  1. SO Wes0778 can you do a check on the radio and comms to let us know if your getting the interfearence that has been reported ocasionaly? The specs for the lights off Northerns site says the lights are something like 3.79 inch or something. They fit right in the RSV light bar?
  2. Yea we have become so acustomed to them now. I usualy go in every couple days just to check charges to make sure they are on the up and up. We have had a rash of the "fake" readers installed in gas pumps around here in the last year or so. They say to pull on the reader when you get gas to be sure it is fully installed. I also heard when your done to press the cancel and clear buttons on the pad when your done. Supose to clear out the info from memory.
  3. Looking around found this kit. Krypton bulbs.com $50 Still looking for posts of why to use the non-bi-zenon. Seems to me if your gonna go HID go all the way and have a hi beam HID also.

  5. WOW I wonder how many of those miles were 35 mph in the left lane with the blinker going. LOL Seriously though, just shows if you take care of something like that it will last. Now a days probably not so much. You cant fix none of it, its all replacable not repairable.
  6. I thought it was the new cager stun gun thingy. When they start to pull out, you hit the button and the engine dies.
  7. I have looked at these. $38 + $15 for the Hi beam and $5 shipping. But I have to add tax as I'm in the same state they are and it comes to around $62. Still not a bad deal I supose. I'm definatly thinking about it.
  8. I had to look at some "real" pictures of this operation before I understood it. The manual dont really give it a very good discription. Full right turn and some finaggling and you can get it done. However I can definatly see how a very long pair of needlenose pliers would make it easier.
  9. I've been to couple. But I didnt know it until watching the show late at nite when I was going to bed. I'd see it and he would be talking and then it would hit me DOUGH. One was a BBQ joint in Memphis and the other a burger joint in Bridgport (I think thats right) Texas. I keep meaning to look the joints up on thier site and stop at a few on trips outa state. Hmmm I wounder if they put the GPS cordinates in the listing??
  10. ChrisFrench: Well if I ordered this kit the shipping would cost more than the kit. What bulbs are you all going with? I think the bi-xeon is the way to go. HID for both hi and Lo. The other way all you get is an HID on low beam and the Hi is a halogen like I'm running now if I read the info right.
  11. THanks Yea was thinking of the 6000 as max, probably the 5000. While the bluer light looks cool, as I have read and you said I'm not gaining anything by it. If the 35w is like 4 times better then the stock 60w or whatever it is that should be plenty I think. Now the research on the driving/passing halogen sealed beams. Cause even now with the headlight I have they almost look like amber fog lights.
  12. I have thought a couple of times about documenting my summer trip. But I never seem to stop anywhere long enough to explore, take pics and I'm terrible about writing. Last year I took a "real" digital camera with me to the Dragon. I had all the good intentions of doing some pics etc. I brought home 3 or 4. LOL I forget to take the dang things. So most of the time I end up with cell phone pics.
  13. HMMMM maybe I'll go with the 55w then. Like I said I'm currently running the Wagner 80w100 "off road" bulb now. So certainly if I go even to the 55w HID I'm lowering my draw right? The passing lights I dont see the HID's in my future, cost is prohibitive. LED's would be an option but cost is high there too and also reports of radio interfearence. I did find a pair of take off passing lamps from a HD that were of the reflector and bulb being seperate type. But I'm figuring the sealed beam type is least expensive. Will going to the halogen sealed beams get rid of the "yellow" beam? While 55w passing lights would be nice I'm thinking the load will be a bit much unless I run new wires. Also the load on the alternator would go up, no?
  14. Mine was installed when I got the bike. I like it as it gives some support for lower back. I loved the one on my Vulcan 900. It may take you some time to get it adjusted just right. I might suggest a "lock nut" on the screw that limits front to rear travel. For me I have the backrest adjusted forward, well I guess the screw would work its way back because it would get uncomfortable thru the day. So I put a nut on it and snugged it up, now it stays.
  15. Sounds like for the most part you enjoyed it. Getting old sucks. I have had a shoulder I slept on wrong or something 2 weeks ago and it still has the muscles all knotted up. I use to live in soutwest OK in Altus. Roade quite abit down in theat area and Texas. We use to make a run the first weekend in Jan up to OKC called the Candy A$$ run. Some years bitter cold, this year I think you all could have done it in t-shirts. lol
  16. I am considering changing out the driving/passing lamps any ways. They look so yellow next to the 80w100 bulb I am currently running. I am looking at going to clear non-fluted type halogen bulbs. I have looked at some HID types but the price is outa site. If I do go with the halogens I think I'm going to have to stay with 35w version to keep from overloading the circuit. I had found some halogens last night sealed beam type for around $8.
  17. I just read about this on Jayski. Unfortunatly I guess there are allways some who cant play by the rules. I wonder if alcahol was involved. I have my suspecions.
  18. I have a question on the HID kits. Some are available in 35w and alsoa 55w kit. Is the 55w OK? Or will it tax the system too much. If it is not as taxing electricly isnt bigger better?
  19. So if I read this right. If the passenger has thiers in the "off" or non-transmitt position, they can not hear if your talking to them either? I should think it only cuts out the mic.
  20. I'll say thats pretty decent price. Mine was closer to the 11K but only 7500 miles. No whine on mine. Least not anything I find suspecious sounding. Clunk of straight cut gears when shifting and the normal valve clatter until up to operating temp. I love mine. These things have been around since 99 with very few changes. I say thats good. If you got a good thing why change. Lots of guys on here have been on these things for lots of years and are more than willing to keep guys like me straight on the repairs and knowledge base. Oh and youll really dig the cassette dude.
  21. Well mark that one down for americans striking back. I have seen on the news up in Orlando from time to time about unsuspecting neighborhoods having someone busted. Last one I remember was in a neighborhood that is "comming back". Some of the houses have gotten assitance from city govt on like back taxs being wrote off and that sort of thing. Well this one guy had like 6 rent houses and one guy had 4 of them rented. Somehow cops got tipped off about elec or something. BAM this guy had some really nice grow houses going on. All the neighbors said the guy renting was "really nice and helpful if you needed yard work or something done"
  22. I currently run a Wagner BP1210 I think it is. 80w100 bulb, it also said "off road use". It is quite a bit brighter than the stock ones. My theroy is if thats all they got to do is hassel me about a stinking light bulb... well must be a slow day in smallsville. For the most part unless you do something to draw attention to you like driving like an idiot, cutting around people crazy like maybe really loud exhaust, I haven had the law bother me about silly stuff.

Also there seems to be the question of bi-xenon or not. I guess some are not true HID as the low beam is still halogen. I have read on this fourm if running HID's you have to have a switch wired in or the light my not start. Something to do with the voltage draw on start up faking the light out that there aint enough juice to run it or something like that. Dont forget if you retired military or active duty Cycle Gear allows you a 10% dicount. OK a little searching e-bay and found a deal for under $30 for a kit with 2. So tou and a buddy could go in half and come out pretty well. Anybody know what the difference would be between a 35w HID and a 55W one? If the HID is already like 60% more light @ 35W would the 55 be over kill?
  24. I did a little research on this today as it bugged me. There are some sealed halogen bulbs made. Sorry about that misinformation. But the ones I was interested in have a reflector housing and the bulb is seperate. On the LED question. I have read several posts on here and some other sites that some folks experience radio interfearence when switching to LED passing lamps. There dont seem to be a lot of ryme or reason to it either. Expensive vs economy bulbs.
  25. Your class is in June. Oh dear look at all the quality riding time your missing. One good thing if you havent rode before or in quite a long time is you shouldnt have any bad habits to forget. You will learn to look further down the road, watch cars on the side streets to make sure they are stopping and staying put. Watching the wheels has been a good indicator for me. The tour deluxe is a big bike to start with as has been mentioned but be careful and respectful and youll be alright. Good luck and enjoy yourself. And I still cant belive you have to wait until June.
