  1. I saw that done I think on the Kawai site. Guy had a pic and everything. After I thought about it for a couple minutes it was like "well daa".
  2. I was just looking into lamps for these today. I have a RSV with 4.5" passing lamps. I was chatting with a fellow Venture owner a few days ago and he said he put HID in his passing lights. He had to use a housing I think from the TD. Best I could find today was STR-4wm35-50-ea. Its just the housing and I think it takes a H3 halogen normaly. I thought it said something about Tri bar also. Any ideas short of calling a dealer how to find out the size of these things?
  3. Calprin: what housings are you using. I am looking to change mine out from sealed beam to a seperate bulb type. I think the star part number I have found that might be correct for the housing is STR-4wm35-50-ea. I have been trying to source some from a Harley also on e-bay. But so far the take offs I have found they guy wants me to make this months payments for him.
  4. Not sure but does your state require a motorcycle endorsment on your drivers licence? If so you probably have to go to a class to get it right? Riding without the endorsement is as good as not having a drivers licence. basicly you are "not qulified" to operate said vehicle. If there was an accident and even no injury say just laid it donw and walked away, guess what the insurance company and cops are going to say? On the note of the bike look at some Buells. I think they are going for decnet money, and sort of sport bikeish but more upright. Also engine size should be down where your talking. I think they were a Buell Blast was the model.
  5. See I done learned something already today.
  6. If ya do it rite you can get NC too !! Shoot your goin to Gattlenburg, just take a nice day trip over to Cherokee thru the national forrest. Nice ride, get some lunch drop a couple quarters and head back.
  7. XV: your problem definatly sounds like it could be rotor related. I would definatly take care of the steering head first and then go from there. You may have to jack it up and get a dial indicator to check run out.
  8. Joe do you live in a neighborhood where the roads are maybe less likely to have the crowns? Maybe take a spin around for a few stops and see if ya got the same problem. That may narrow it down. Maybe an empty parking lot and test it out there.
  9. Cougar I'm kind of thinking same route. Maybe tire wear or possibly the road its self. I also lowered mine as orginal poster has. I have noticed this once in awhile but I think I discovred it can be the road. With slight crown in center and certainly the two tire groves the big rigs and cars drive in all the time, off to one side or the other slightly and it can make it sort of go one way or the other under braking. Mine just dont feel like the front gets the "grip" that my single rotor Kawi 900 had. Maybe I'm still getting use to it.
  10. I know kind of old post but I've been looking around and dont recall finding the answer. But if you swap to the RK mufflers stock not drilled do you have to change jets and reset carbs?

    Yessssss!

You know I almost feel sorry for you all up north. I think I have wore a jacket maybe 5 times this winter. Thats part of why I moved here instead of staying in Oklahoma or moving north.
  12. Yea maybe we got our wires crossed. As far as the Gen 2 is conserned I havent seen anything about that. Sorry about that. It had me flustered for awhile there.
  13. I have a place for a switch, its the by pass thing I'm not sure about. So far I haven found anything about needing to do this. I'm looking thru our fourms right now, but so far nothing under "reserve lighting". I currently have a switch mounted to turn off or by pass my modulator.
  14. OH crap. If I have to chop up something to make the switch, Ill have to put this on hold. Bike is still under warranty so I dont want to do anything that is going to foul that up.
  15. Do I need to look at the code elminator thing? I thought I had all the questions asked in last post. lol I was thinking of using the exsiting power wire to headlight as power to the relay and a switch on it the fire relay. I supose I could use the relay to complete the ground to the system doing the same thing right? Ground for unit to relay-realy to ground and the power wire for relay somewhere off key side I guess. While I'm at it I am going to look into the relay addition to the passing lites, maybe just build a decent harness for it and feed direct off battery to instead of thru headlight circuit. I guess I'm looking for an answer from folks that know. I will just be putting it into the stock RSV headlight not changing over to frog eye or whatever projector lens. Is it worth going to the 55w over the 35w? I have been reading some info googled on yahoo, but most is tuner guys and its sort of a 50/50 wash to go 55w or not to.
  16. Well I'm really looking into info on the 35w vs 55w now. I found some 55w kits on e-bay with slim ballest for same price as 35w. I have read if running the 55w folks recomend running thru a relay. Also have read that you need to put basicly an "on/off" switch in the set up even with the 35w due to something about not enough power when you roll the starter over for the lamps to kick off. The bulb I'm looking at is 6000k should be OK right? Probably take more time to run wires/relay/switch then doing the kit. lol
  17. I have a Garmin and like it alot. I didnt know if I wanted to use a Nav unit on trips. But now that I have one and have plotted some courses its kind of neat. Last year (my first trip with it) I found that for me it was alot easier to use the uit and not miss important turns and such with the unit and I could pay better attention to things knowing it was going to tell me when to turn vs trying to read printed directions on the map bag. Enjoy. I use a program called TYRE its free and is much easier than the map do-hicky thingy Garmin tells you to use.
  18. The 765t has an external mic port. I didnt know this until Buddy Rich told me and I had the unit almost a year. I would have to give the 765t a excellent rating for what I need. Works good on the bike and I can take it in the car too. I do listen to MP3 and nav and tried to use the bluetooth in the car on a trip but didnt work so good. I think part of it was I was running the nav thru the FM at the time and a call came in so there might have been some feedback to the caller as he said it was hard to hear. Might have been mic just couldnt pick up that well that far on the windshield. I think the screen is plenty big. Garmin probably found out they were loosing sales on the high dollar Zumos to these types of units so they quit making anything that had MP3 and bluetooth unless its in the "motorcycle specific" units.
  19. We complain about the RSV not being updated since 99. To me pick any of the HE touring bikes. FLTVHwhatcamacallit. tourglid, road glide, street glide road king. They pretty much look the same as in the 60"s. To me the road king would be your full out touring bike. For them its bagger with a windshiled not a fairing. Electra glide and ultra glide, whats the difference? I certainly cant tell. Elctra glide came from the 60's once again when they started to put elec start on big bikes. I got a friend that ridea a Harley, was allways a life long dream for him. Even he says that HD stand for hundred dollar everytime you want to add something. I dont know if its any differnt then when we use to bench race and cut a guy for driving a Chevy or Ford or whatever.
  20. I have ahd a couple problems in years gone by with the plastic filters. One was jammed in place and I guess rubbed against a bracket or something on my KZ650. Never caused issues other than started to really smell gas. Another time on a race car the end where the hose connects cracked right where it meets the body and blew the hose rigth off the filter. I think I'll go with a metal housing type.
  21. I did have a thought on this changeover yesterday riding home from my sons. If you go with the std type kits that have the halogen hi beam, could you still run a modulator on it? If its a halogen bulb its not running thru the transformer thing right?
  22. Radian: I have the J&M wired type headsets. Lower end ones I would assume as the pair were about $160 off e-bay. I have the same deal, I have a hard time hearing her sometimes. I have tried a few things, mic position, adjusting the intercom volume speaking up. If I turn up the volume to much then when the GPS/MP3 player is playing it gets tinny sounding also. I had a hard time figuring this out as I had made a solo ride a couple weeks before and it was A OK. I dont know if there is an "upgrade" type speaker to use on the wired headsets or not. I'm looking at going to a "mic mute" to cut hers out until she want to talk being the factory system is "on" all the time. I got a ton of miles around your area as I stationed in Altus for 20 yr. Lots of miles in the Red River area. Reshired: As of now I have the J&M headsets in Bell Mag series 3/4 helmets. I have a scorpion EXO100 1/2 I thought about putting a kit in one day. But the kits I see you have to put the weather curtian/ear covers back on to hold the speakers. I was wondering the same thing, could a fellow make a connection to a pair of earbuds instead of the big speakers. I can come up with a way to mount the mic I think. Scala seems to be the manufacture of choice from posts I have read on the wireless comm.
  23. Might check your local Craigslist or e-bay. I dont think I have seen any used ones for sale very often.
  24. tiptopcanvas.com 1010 N 20th Ave, Hollywood, FL 33020 C&D canvas 2016 Wilson St, Hollywood, FL 33020 www.emmarine.com Hallendale. Heres a whole page from yahoo So how board am I?
  25. I would think so. Looks like youll need some sort of suport on the back so when you crawl in it dont flip up. The rods an tent supports my be up to you also. I would think some good velcro would hold the sides to the inside of your lid. Check with some of your local camper dealers, camping world and the like. See if they have somebody that does repairs for them. Being you are in the Miami area I would think there is some sail boat shops around maybe they would be up for it. Upolstery shops could be a good source too.
