I belive the black round connectors are the audio/comm stuff. That would appear to be maybe power and control wires for cassette and radio posssibly. Oh and the trick I have found for the bolts for the light bar, 6mm long ball allen from snap on. I dont know how you would do it other wise. I just happened to have one and was glad I did.

I have had good service with them also. Last set of tires I bought I did the "price match". Took me a day or so for them to get back to me if I rememeber right but they got back to me and gave me their match price.

Rear Shock Replacement with Remote Adjuster
djh3 replied to TheKid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Whats the OEM spring rate? If I remember all the replacement shock have adjustable bump and rebound settings dont they? That could help out if the spring is a bit on the stiff side, just soften up the bump side of shock. -
From experience (dont ask) you haave a chance of possibly getting a break if you dont have one in the vehicle. I got 2 of them laying in the garage somewhere. I dont put them in anymore.

Well I sure aint no scientest or expert on this stuff. But I belive what is used for speed detection is way different from the stuff say your dentist or a Dr uses to x-ray you. The speed stuff is more a radio wave kind of gig and lower wave legnths I belive. However you can probably find some lawyer that might go after them for over exposing you. 1-800-ask gary.

Up on the helmets where mine plug in there is a retaining strap. Does only one person loose the radio? Or do both go out? There is also a connector undr the passenger seat when you go to looking fo loose connections.

2yr ago my buddy and I went the Cherola Skyway route from Knoxville to Bryson city, then went our seperate ways. Enjoyed it quite a bit. Last year we had heard about the Dragon so much figured we needed to check it out. So we came back that way. It was neat, we definatly went at our own speed. Iwas comfortable with my abilities on the 900 I had at the time. This year we have elected to go back to the Skyway. Not sure how cofortable I am on my tight curves ability with the RSV but I will feel alot better about the skyway. 28 up that way is a neat road too. I think they call it Moonshiner 28. Like one fella said after riding the Dragon he was wore out. I felt kinda that way too. Couldnt really see anything because you are (or should be) concentrating on the road at hand. With as many other roads in that area that come highly recomended, surely you dont think your the only one that like the more leasurley ride right?

My passing lights have bullit connectors at the bottom of the fairing where the light bar hooks in. When its apart would be a good time to put a piece of heat shrink over it to fix it good. I had to solder a couple wires up and heat shrink it on mine.

I did have the problem once of the route deciding it was going to "do its own thing" after uploading to GPS. Luckly I run thru the routes once they are uploaded on GPS and I caught it. It sort of swapped a couple waypoints.
-
I had split the fairing and susiquently had to lower the light bar. Well I guess the wires got pulled out of the nesting place and sure enough got into the steering lock tab. I happened to have it one and was turning in garage and "pop" lights out. Thats where the thing got pinched. I have since rerouted them and wraped them.

Is there passing lights installed? What headlight bulb do you have? OEM or the higer output? MY fuse holder for my passing lights was all but burned in two.

WOW manged to make it further than Evil did on that jet thingy.

If its the threaded part there, try Jegs or Aeroquip. Any of the folks that make braided steel lines for hot rods. Earls performance fittings. Jeg's Summit Racing Supply

Well just wasnt happy with the brightness of the LED turn bulbs in the front. After looking at them for a few days I decided they just aint bright enough. The rears are quite a bit brighter. I put an OEM bulb in the front and put the cover on to compair the LED to it. Much more defination to it. You can actually see it blinking, although its still fast. Good thing I only got a couple bucks invested in them.

Different REAR tire sizes ???
djh3 replied to Miles's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
HMMM I know we had guys over on the Kawaski boards going up one from a 180 to a 200 to "gain a little on the highway gearing. If you dont get any info from anyone heres an idea. Contact a local bike dealer in your part of the world there. Tell them you would like to find a tire in that size, if they get a take off call you. Being you have the ez does it equipment mounting one up and dismounting for measurments shouldnt be all that big of a chore eh? Might be the only way to know for sure. Should be somewhere that they show the specs of the tire and you can maybe measure it up. -
RSTD Windscreen Options?
djh3 replied to Dave77459's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
WOW @ $320 I'm pretty sure you can find an alternative. Shoot for that much you can probably afford to buy a Mephis shades and experiment, and if it goes horribly wrong buy a replacment and still be even. -
For the big "LED Bulb" looking headlight like the trucklite I think you have to take the glass apart and seperate from the housing and stuff. The HID is about a 30 min or so job.

Well the engine design is certainly different. I am still getting use to this V-4 from my 900 Kawai twin I had. I think the VIc probably has more power, certainly more torque but its low in RPM range. You are use to the high reving V-4 so it would be a learning curve. I too rode the VIcs. Talk about grunt!!!!! If you are traveling 2 up I would seriously take another look at the Vision. While a excellen riding and driving bik. There aint a lot of room in them bags the way they are all slanted and curved. If I had the funds I would be on a Cross Country Tour now.

The LED for the brake light is quite a bit brighter than the stock bulb. I think the turn bulbs look a bit brighter also. So its an appearence thing I guess. And LED's should last way longer and are not as suseptable to burn out or a filament getting broken.

OK I tried this today. Pulled the 2 wires for the flasher out of the connector for the OEM flasher unit. Plugged those into a flasher unit off my pick up. Went for a ride around my neighborhood and turned on the left signal. It never cancelled. This was done with regular bulbs still in. I did this to check and see if by chance I could replace just the flasher with a LED flasher and still retail the self canceling properties. No such luck. So while i'm messing around with this the mail man comes. All my turn bulbs show up. So I put them in. They flash like they have been on 5hr energy drink or something but they work. Well now they do. I had to crimp one of the front sockets down a little to get a good enough connection. So now I have to decide if I want to add the load things. Do you add one for each light? Or for each side? Saw the ones from signal dynamics and it left me confused on the wiring diagrham. Looks like from the schematic you need 2 for thier deal.

I guess I'm in the minority. Aint much on that phone worth my life. If I have the GPS fired up and it alerts me to a call I just check in when I stop. Very few times do I even talk on it when driving a cage.

I think I saw quite a few guys going with a Mustang seat also. Part of this was a bunch of the guys I was talking with to start were guys moving up from 900 vulcans and we all went with the Mustang for those.
