Yup I actually discovered the 28 from Bryson city NC to Franklin Nc on accident a couple years ago. Now I find the web site. Moonshiner 28 Glad to hear about the Ice cream joint. The wife and I have 5 days or so planned in Oct staying in Franklin as a base. Plan on some rock hounding, small shop visits etc. I'm going to try to work a trip to the Wheels thru time mesuem in Maggie Valley in too. See there, there are other roads than the "Dragon" up there to enjoy.

I've got a buddy that has an 07 Heritage. He looked for quite some time to find a sutabe sub oil for the expen$ive HD oil. Check the owners manual it will tell you what the spec needs to be as far as SG-SJ-SH or whatever. It will also say probalby JASMO. Which is a fancy abrev for something like Japanese Assoc Spec Motor Oil. (close but not exact) Anyways that is the key to a non-slipping clutch. Cage oil that will work in a bike is getting harder and harder to find because they are dropping the weights. He is using a oil recomended for diesel trucks, much like the Rotella T6. I think its maybe a Dello or something but in a 50w. The air cooled bikes need a bit more viscosity I guess to help keep thier cool. I used the Mobil 1 20w50 v-twin oil. It is a Syn. But there are some other out there you can get @ your local Autozone-Advance parts house. Oh yea , dont forget there is more oil to change in the gearbox (its seperate) and the primary.

Saving radio stations for me here lately aint been no big deal. I think I have about figured it out and set a couple. But a few days ago I tuned one in and I'll be danged they have had a format change and now is some sort of crap talk radio all the time. The other went from classic rock to new wave or whatever this crap is now with all the synthasizers etc. -

SO if you work on it a little, you can hook up 2 9V batteries and have a jumper box right? That would be to easy. Neat gizmo though. -
AH thanks. I'm riding with some Harley guys so they experienced in watching for falling parts. I found the clmaps for about $19 @ debrix cycles, but heck the shipping is $13. Still thts $10 cheaper than what I have found on e-bay. I wounder if a HD dealer would have them in stock? I have to make a trip up to Daytona around the 4th of July for work. What do you think my chances are of J&P having a sutible clamp or maybe Rothmyers HD having the clmaps in stock? Surely this cant be the only company that makes these clamps, can they? They must be a OEM clamp for something. They are like 2" wide right?
-
I'm despretly looking for some on e-bay now. Just to kind of see how much and shipping time. I have a 2200 mile trip planned and would like to run them on it. But I dont want one to fall of in say backwoods Kentucky or something either. With the brackets I dont think they would actually fall of do you?
-
I plan on buying a set of the v twin wide clamps. But I am in sort of a time crunch and may not have time to get the clamps shipped. So my question is do you all think as a temp fix a guy could use a worm type hose clamp?

I've been dealing with this on my 96 Dodge PU. The collision has got so high I have dropped it. I had an 89 mustang GT that got the same way. I bumped it up from $500 to 700 to 1000 deductable. Well heck it got to the point I could buy a replacment car for less than 3yr insurance almost. So my theroy with the truck is if I know I cant avoid it, get it up to ramming speed and go all in. Probably not a good idea on the bike though.

My son works in the Ocupational theropy field. My BIL had this surgery done back in Dec. His advice to him was to keep working it. If you can stand it work it a bit more than they do at the sessions. The more you work it the more free all the muscles etc stay. Pain pills, yea thats a huge problem with any surgery. Good luck.

Check with your insurance company how far back they will cover for full coverage. Some will only go like 10yr. A friend of mine buys some insurance "totals" and fixs them and rides them then resells them. He told me that on a wreck bike something like once repairs get to about 60 percent of wholesale they just total it out.

I have a Bell Mag8. It was really snug on my sunglasses. The wife wears the same helmet only in her size. lol Anyways what I did to fix the pushing the glasses up or smashing my head was to take a zip tie and put it around the foam ear piece where my glasses were and tightne it so it didnt push on them any more. I did the same thing for the wife's as hers was making her glasses vibrate and giggle around giving her a headache to ride for long.

Its getting closer and closer to that movie where they jus fenced off whatever city it was and let the thugs have at it. Go ahead, use your drugs, kill off eachother stay the hell away from the law biding citizans and delete your population. Then see how biga boy you are.

When I was a kid some summers I would go back up to Detriot and stay with my sister and her kids. I moved to Fla with my folks in the early 60's. By early 70's I guess Detriot and LA/Watts were in a battle for "the deadlyist city" award. Every night on TV seemed like right after they told how many of our brotheres were killed in Viet Nam they would give an update to the yearly murder numbers. 1 maybe 2 a day, now you sadly chucly that one away. Its probably closer to 5. Only thing we can hope for is that nature thins its self out and dont take many of the bystanders along the way. Meanwhile folks question Floridas gun laws and personal protection. Sorry I'l get down and turn it over to someone else.

ECK thanks for the info friend. I have a Utopia driver backrest and will take a look see to make sure my wires a routed correctly. Kirby- Like I said mine has what looks like steel tubing maybe 1/2" thick behind the flat piece of steel, yet its close quarters between the fairing and the back of the light housing. I supose a fellow could "tweak" it so you had additional room. The "pinch" area makes good sense with the discription of trouble. I'd think an old piece of fuel line or something to shroud the wires would work also.

I was reading a discussion somewhere that replacement "new" casseette players were no longer in stock. I guess he looked it up on like bike bandit or something and the fiche said no longer available. I'd rather see a MP3 player that takes SD cards and maybe has a USB plug in.

DANG now you went and ruined it. I also got my new edition of Roadrunner in the mail. I aint even broke the seal aas I was saving it for a airplane trip next week. Now all antisapation is gone.

You know when I posted about how my bolts were I was thinking about a guy could use studs. So how much room do you need? Would a couple of washers behind the lights give you what your looking for? What about a piece of alum tubing that would go over the bolts and just cut it off as thick as you would like. And then if they are to far out dont I remember something about the lowers flexing and breaking or something.

Risers certainly helped me. I can tell you from experience what probably happened. First day out you were rested up so to speak. Second day being you were in an uncofortable position it worked on the muscles so its weaker. Consecutive days same thing only worse. My old bike before I put risers on after about the 4th day of a long ride I had like a charley horse so bad I couldnt hold bike up.

I have changed mine up to this point. My previous bike was a 900 Vulcan with tubes. Boy what a pain that is. Anyways looking forward to tubless this time around. I saw a video years ago of a BMW rider changing his tire without even removing the wheel. I was impressed. It wasnt one of the dual sports jobes either.

Oh my does this mean I need an upgrade? http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3262/2587148827_38b31848e5_z.jpg?zz=1

Mine have about 3/4" inch round spacer behinde them and I still have to take the bolts out. Maybe it should have a thicker spacer. Maybe its 1/2" I dunno, I just know its got to come off to split fairing. Wow if its got hex heads thats got to be a PIA. I dont know as I could get a wrench anywhere near them and I dont think anything bigger than a 1/4" drive is going to fit under the fairing in that spot.

Big part of the reason I go back to them is low pricing. I have probably looked at over 20 sites pricing tires, and for the brand and size I was looking for they were the least expensive. The time I had them price match I happened to find a tire on sale at a different joint and they MSS.com matched it. Dont own no stock or anybody that works there, just good experiences for me.
