Here is a couple pics of my fuse/holder. I changed it out to the same type of fuse used on the rest of the bike (makes to much sense huh). I used this one from Autozone. http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/bsm/BP-HHG-RP/image/2/

OK heres a couple options depending on your wireing and soldering skills. Repair the end with something like this, or one of these. I have no idea if there is enough room to fit them as I havent tore mine apart there yet. Or use the "Y" cable. This one happens to be 4" but they do make a longer one. I was thinking of putting in a stereo jack so I could use ear buds with my shorty helmet, but they do make an adapter for that too.

+1 on the price hike. I discovered the B-12 at wally world was something like $3 a can vs almost $10. So I have been using the B-12. Reading the directions (yea I know perrish the thought) the only big difference I can see is Sea Foam is OK for diesel and the B-12 says specificly dont use on deisel. 6oz of either per tank every 4-5 weeks I think is OK. Anybody ever put a shot of marvel mystery oil in? Other than over winter storage?

I dont have the mic mutes. But I have had problems simular to this with a radio and some lights (auxilary type) Both times ended up being either a ground connection or the powerconnection. Did you use a solder in type or the scotch lock (clamp over wire)?

Which plug friend? The power socket or the aux socket next to the cassete slot? I know Radio shack has the plugs and the backing part threads on but I dont really know what the aux plug looks like or how its mouted to the face plate. Other option is to put a aux in splitter under the fairing and run you another plug.

Front fairing question
djh3 replied to Rscott's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Check out some of these. http://www.destinationcycles.com/Fairing-batwing-96-Royalstar.htm http://hoppeindustries.com/store/index.php?cPath=21_33_49 These seem pricey to me. Check the guys at www.recklessmotorcycles.com I bought one for my 900 Kawi I had to adapt but it worked well. I know they have Yamaha listings. I've noticed a bunch of our advertisers have been running ads with their company's aftermarket batwing fairings. These include: National Cycle, Memphis Shades, Kuryakyn, Tsukayu, and Dragonfly. Some even come with radio options, and they all vary.- 16 replies

How about a PN for the JC Whitney ones? The ones I came up with didnt sy they were specific to the RSV/TD and were in the $45 range I think. Single outside rail. The first pic of the ones I posted are 13"x6" and best I could measure on mine that should work OK. I like some rails inthe middle so if you do put something on there it dont lay on the bag lid.
-
Look up the bags they go on from thier site. The one there I think the first is a rather narrow bag. Then it would kind of depend on the arc of the bag that they are suposed to fit. But Someone said the HD ones fit and they have little to no arc. I researched it a little before and I think the first one is what I came up with fitting OK. Also I think Kawaski Nomad top racks look to be close to same shape.

Yea but if you think those are bright, wait till you put an HID in. I bout some Alure housings and halogen passing lights for mine after installing my HID. They still look yellowish compaired to the headlight. I bought my HId kit off e-bay $32 free shipping. Easy install. Hardest part was making an on/off switch with warning light as suggested by some other members suggested. Bi-zenon is the way to go, otherwise you end up with HID low I think and a halogen for a hi-beam. On the flip side though if you by the kit with a halogen beam you could run a modulator with it I think. The HID you cant run a modulator.

I have looked for the "top rails" off and on for awhile now. I looked on e-bay for them and only find like one supplier. I looked at some on http://www.mutazu.com/index.html and found some I think may work. The rails fit these bags. http://www.mutazu.com/images/extras/HL%20Top%20Rails/thumbs/th_IMG_1238.JPG Heres another set that fits a slightly different bag. All considerable less expensive than the $200+ for the ones I have seen on e-bay. http://www.mutazu.com/images/extras/jm_toprack/thumbs/th_JM%20top%20racks.JPG What has to be done to the HD rack to make them fit? Do they look decent once done?

Had no choice. We were in the Cheerokee national forest and staying in Maggie Valley. We were going to Gattlinburg to shop and spend some time. So that's where we were. Streets looked like a river. Like I said I don't think it will happen very often. I hope anyways even though I had it again today heading up to Daytona. LOL man these afternoon storms from all this heat suck. They just spring up from nothing.
-
Only disadvantage I can see to open back is if water is high when you get to a light. A few years back the wife and I were on a trip and got to Gatlinburg. It was raining cats and dogs and water was ankle deep in town, so when you stopped at a light your boots would be on water and soaked. With the ones I have I was good. But how often does that happen?
-
Belive me I have seriously thought about the taller rain boot covers. Most of the time thats all I would need. Unless its a driving hard rain like last week when I left @ 530am in a huricane. The average boot covers are not tall enough alone and my knees are what gets wet, so have to put on the full rain pants.

Just got back from a trip that I had to don the rain suit 4 out of 4 days of riding. 3 of the days was not bad an hour maybe 2. Anyways the last day I just rolled the suit, and boots up and bungied them to the trunk rack as it was easier. When I got home I noticed that the heel of my rain boot has a tear in it. The ones I have now are maybe 5 yr old so close to replacement. They are the "spyder" type that have a complete sole. I am thinking about the Tourmaster or Nelson Rigg type. The cover just the toe and the heel is open. Can anyone tell me do these keep your feet dry with the heel being open? Are they a good rain cover? Looked at the Hopnel rain gaiters but the couple reviews didnt seem like the folks were very happy about the fastening methiod.

Undrilled-bone stock. Around here I thiought I would be OK (Fla) Pretty flat too. Sounded pretty good, but a full day of pulling mountian terrain cured me.
-
With all your work I sure hope you like them. I swapped a week or so ago. Then left right away on a 2200 mile trip with them. I'm taking them off soon as I can. To much roar on long trips and under power like in the mountians. Dont get me wrong, they sound good but I just dont want the constant roar.
-
I can gaurentee youll like the ride on this one alot more than the KZ. A 2x4 would have had a better ride than my KZ's seat. Be safe and enjoy. Welcome back.

Exhaust Pops and pitch
djh3 replied to bikeboy10's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They say the Road Kings have good sound, and I would have to agree. But I will also tell you I just got off a 2200 mile trip up from Fl to Cincinati Oh and back down thru the mountians so a varity of roads. Mine are comming off I think. I just dont think I want that roar and I'm pretty sure the boss wont particularly like it either. I think they sound good, but I dont want my ears ringing after a trip. -
Well just got back today @ about 2pm. Left Florence Ky @ 730 Sun am and my buddy and I rode back partialy slab to Knoxville then hit the Cherola. Saw a rider down into a gaurd rail almost at the end. Others were there to slow folks down. I stayed in Ga last night as no way I can make the entire way back to Fl in one stint. Plus it was 101 in Frankiln Nc when I went thru @ about 5pm and south of Gainsville Ga it was 106. Reminds me of my days in Ok.
-
Well I have had this trip to Ky and Tn planned for a couple months now. I have to go for work and am making it a small side trip for me. Right now over Fla there is this huge rain maker parked. I have to leave tomorrow AM and am still planning on taking the bike. I probably should have my head examined, but I'm still taking the bike. Hopefully 4hr or so in the wet and I should be past Jacksonville and start clearing up.

Handle bar adjustment
djh3 replied to Flyinfool's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I would be leary of heating up the bars and bending them as it may take the heat treat out of them. -
I also have the Throttle Rocker. Only difference is the the Throttle Rocker has a little longer flat part to rest the heel of your hand. It takes a little to get it set up right. To far one way and youll be adding throttle when you dont want it. To far down and your wrist will hurt because to much angle. I like it for times like a previous poster said "you cant use cruise" If your running donw the slab at 70 and have traffic you prob wont have cruise connected, but these releve the tingle in the wrist that you get alot.

Harley Muffler mounting brackets
djh3 replied to bikerjohn's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
There was a package deal on e-bay a few days ago. I think the seller was a Hills. I just mounted mine today and used the "P" clamp. Simple, inexpensive and when mounted the bags hide it anyways. All you need is a 5/16 course bolt and a washer. The bolt need to be about .640 long I think is what I cut mine off to. I read 3/4 in length somewhere, but it bottomed out. So not wanting to run the the store again I just cut it down. I am working on another clamp besides the V-Twin 31-9920. Possibly J&P 4400201 or a 4400200. Listing dont say what size the clamp is and I havent had time to call and find out either. I think the ID of the clamp needs to be like 1 7/8 -
My new Road King Mufflers came with a wig?"
djh3 replied to ablumny's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well I got a set of the RK's mounted on mine today. I have no idea what year they came off. The only thing I could find that looked like a PN# the last twwo digits were -09. The right one as you sit on the bike is straight thru till about maybe 5" from the end and it has like a block off plate to keep it from straight thru. The left is made different, maybe 8-10" from the inlet it has something that drops down about half the width of the hole. Sort of looks like a ramp of sorts. Looking up the pipe from the back it sort of looks the reverse. Didnt see anything thing that looked like the catalitic stuff that fell out of my muffler in days long gone. Honest I accidently dropped a pipe in the converter and all that stuff just fell out. The pressure comming out the mufflers feels about the same. I used the "P" clamps to mount. I just need to find a wide clamp. I'm looking for something else besides the V-Twin job. Call it my protest. I hate it when there is only one supplier for something. Right now I'm using hose clamps. Aint purty but it works. I'll be by the J&P store in Daytona in a week or so and think I'll see what I can scare up.
