I remember back in the day when the CHiP's switched from the HD to the KZ1000. BIG uproar. But the bikes were quicker, more nimble and less maintenace required. Alot of forces have went the BMW route. I dont know how they got past the "cost" factor on that one though. The intial cost and if you ever had to do anything upkeep wise its high dollar. I think I seen a couple Concourse in the Miami Dade area also. Shoot I think Daytona Beach has some of the dual sport bikes for the beach region. LOL I can definatly see some forces going to the Vic. Its solid and very dependable, hyd lifters bu-coo torque and will lope along at 20-30 mph too.

Was wondering has anyone attempted to make a windshiled out of the same thickness lexan? I have thought about like a Cee Baileys shorter windshield, but I have a sheet of lexan (I think the same thickness as current windscreen) and was wondering if anyone has made thier own. I saw a couple posts somewhere about cutting down the current OEM windscreen.

New Mount for Bright Front LED lights

Landing lights not bright enough. :rotf:Depends on which ones and how much watts. I had like an 83 Suzuki GS1100 and mounted some landing lights on it. 13v and 60w+ I think. Long before I understood about the amount of amps etc to power them required. All I know is I could run one under 30 mph, to run both I'd better be moving around 60 or else the bike had no power. Now I know why. Things we learn. -
OK thanks. I went back and looked agin tonight. I may have misread it too. It may have said it was for the 1600 air cooled bike too. I cant remember what they call it now but its tour something. I did find a pair for the $65 range which is $20 less than I have found anywhere else.

OK thanks. Last time I had them out (OEM) they looked fine. Now I have 14k or so on bike I was thinking might have to change them out.

I was looking on e-bay the other night and ran across K&N's for a RSTD. The numbers were different than the RSV and like $30 bucks less. I thought basicly they were the same bike except the fairing-gas tank-speedo deal. Looking @ K&N site they show the YA 1399 for both the TD and Venture. Maybe they had the years mixed up or something? Does anyone else make a filter for the RSV thats worth running? Unipro anyone run them?

I was wondering about the underarmour type stuff. I completed a 1100 mile stint from Cincinatti to central fla in 2 days. The temps where pretty high. It was July 1st weekend. I got so hot I just had to stop and I knew I was hotter than @#% but no sweat on my shirt. I filled up my now empty water bottle and bought a coold one at a station. I kept wetting my shirt but it seemed to dry out pretty dang fast. So I wasnt sure it this is the route I sould go or maybe the old cotton T-shirt is better as it stays wet.

I could see a sign being somewhere "down south" as you enter Texas being like that. But it would probable have to be in a different language. When I forget her name now, but when she was in office there I could see something like that actually being posted that way. She was no nonsense.

I know what would happen if I had a pair. Some bluehair swing the door open on thier crown vic wide enough to get thier walker out and break them.

I think I'd be more worried about someone moning it at the motel to get the parking spot, than stealing it. :rotf:Kind of like locking the doors on a convertable.

New Mount for Bright Front LED lights

Them LED's almost make your headlight look yellow dont they? Could smaller driving type lights be used with your bracket, or does it have to be in the 4.5" range? -
You think we got it bad? Check out the Kawaski fourms under the Voyagers. LOL them guys are cooking in the winter time. There are some "vents" someone around here makes to go on the outside of the leg fairings to hel direct some air in on your legs.

I dont have a trailer now, but at the time I just put a pd lock thru the coupler. Now a days though I would probably make a cable and locker down to something less mobile like a post or maybe the parking bumper thing. You can go to home depot or lowes and buy a cable of the size you would like and also get a couple of swedges and make a loop in the ends and wa-la you have a cable to lock stuff up with. I mad a smaller gauge one for my other bike to lock the helmets up and use the disc brake lock . something like this http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/300/3a/3a9b9e9d-0000-4fca-852a-8670853d6f9e_300.jpg or could use one fo the cables for a dog tie out.

Verner: I was just up in your part of the country a couple weeks ago. It was 106 when I came thru by Gainsville Ga @ 6:30 in the evening. Yea it feels hot and is. Not a lot of air flow right at feet and alot of heat seem to gather there, Rad, pipes, heads etc. If your able slide your feet out to highway pegs or atleast outside part of floorboards and you should increase some flow around your feel. Dont lug the motor if in town as it seems to build more heat instead of running a little higher RPM's

Might think about maybe something like the spray in bedlinner stuff. I know they make some sort of clear coat type stuff like that. Might be lighter to do say the lower 4 or so inches in that then added weight of more alum.

Typical Florida summer time weather. Gets hot, boils the atmosphere and then it rains in afternoons after heating up all day. Going to the the parks, drop by local wally world or simular and buy the $1.00 ponchos. Easy to carry and if you use it and dont want to refold for next time not bad to replace. Depending on ages of kids they opend a new place in Winterhaven not to far from the Disney are called Legoland. Suposed to be pretty neat and less crowded.. Have fun and enjoy.

LED Headlamps/Passing Lamps
djh3 replied to DONATALIE's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
They came off e-bay. A tad large on diameter and wouldnt fit thru hole for H3 in housing. I plugged them into the wire and they didnt seem all that bright. So back up for a little while and rethink. not worth ordering if you ask me. -
And looky here another stisfied cutomer. Phew I'm glad he bought it because I was thinking about it. And I need another piece of motorcycle specific luggage like I need a hole in the head.

I had a 71 Maverick Grabber with a V-8 and 4 speed. Dual glass packs for awhile, law man didnt like them real well and man did they drone at speed. They went by by when we discovered Corvair Turbo mufflers. They were the hot ticket then, now is flowmasters. Oh and I put the RK's back on mine this week to give them another try.

I love it. Their humor is so different, and ya got to love the "star in resonable priced car" test drive. The american version is still on although it has been revamped to be closer in format to the Brits. I dont get the BBC America on my cable but I can watch episodes "on demand". I saw Rutlage (on of the guys on the US version) and asked if they were maybe going to do a face off with the Brits. I was told they were looking at possibly doing one. That would be neat. I saw one where they went against the Aussy version of the show and of course the Brits stacked the deck against them. But what do you expect its a Brit show. :rotf:They had a show not to long back that had Britt amputees doing some sort of rally-off road racing in the UK. It was pretty awsome the way the guys fitted the truck for the driver and it was amputees all on the team.

OK I missunderstood the $300 figure. I would think with the contacts here you should be able to recoup your money. Plus folks here would know reasonably that the parts are good. Something you dont allways have confidence in when buying salvage parts.

Thrush glasspacks installed!

Not bad from behind. I looked forever for a decent video of the RK muffs on a Gen2. Everything was like this from behind. What gave me a good idea was a guy shot some while riding from the dash or helmet. Then you could tell what it sounded like from the drivers seat. Just an idea. But I will say very ingenious. -
Tell them OK find me a like vehicle for that much. I dunno if you think its fair thats what counts. I didnt read up o the tory liine so I dont know what happened or where. I know stuff like the ignition parts for a yamha FJ1200 are expensive. The ECM's go for about $150 and the coils for 50-60 a pair. If the transportation cost would be high than it probably aint worth messing with IMOP. If you can put it in a U-haul for $100 maybe.

Mine has like straps on the top of the lid to help support. If it didnt I would certainly add something to help support it. I have some washers that were on a bike years ago that have like a star pattern on them and are about an inch around. Something like that would certainly help it out. I have seen washers somethin glike it at Home Depot or Lowes made for mirrors.
