  1. I have seen a pic of them and will try to remember where. Not sure how much room youll have to play with but there is a couple different ways we use to take them out. Small pin punch, punch in top and pop out. Small sheet metal type screw into top and pull them out. Spring loaded center punch, (theres another name for it but danged if I can remember right now) pop center a couple times and usualy it deform enough to get them out.   2. I just had my 09 RSV up on the jack. I was poking around and the dog bone area where the leveling links conncet had rust colored dust by the bolt. I'm thinking this usualy aint good. So what the heck I pulled the bold for the links out. After I got them out the entire arm felt like it was loose. Mostly at the frame bolt. So I figured what the heck pulled the entire thing apart, cleaned it up and greased all the bearings and bolts. Man that is a sloppy fit at the frame connection. It almost feels like it need some shims inbetween the frame and the bushing in the dog bone to knock some of the slop out. Once the leveling links are all bolted up its tight so I guess Yamaha figures its OK. Does this sound about right on the free play?
  3. I wonder if them there Chinese cars run on this crap? I was in the service when this "gas streching" manuver was tried before. We got **** out in the field in places we might or might not have been and guess what, it wouldnt run. Answer then, buy diesel powered stuff. Politicians dont care what kinf of rules they impose on us because they are above all of them. They dont drive, we pay someone to do that for them. They dont have to cover thier own health care, because they vote themselves a better deal. They dont have to go thru airport security because we pay to fly them on special jets to wherever thier little hearts desire. And in 4yrs in thier job and they get to retire with full pension and benifets. GRRRRRRRR So like one fellow said, you run out of gas on side of the road. You borrow a 2 gal "get me there" can. What do you do with the other 2 gal of gas? Run it out on the ground? I kow you go in and buy 4 of them huge soda cups, fill them up and tell them I'll be right back.

  5. OK so heres a simular question. Gap type plugs or the "gapless" fire to side or whatever. Not the standard center electrode over pin. I pulled a set of factory Iridiums out of the wifes Durango with about 110K. they were burnt up but what the hect do you expect with that many miles and 10yrs. I think anything else would have been gone long time ago.
  6. Couple bucks more and you can get a jack. this on is from sears. I have had mine since 2007 and works great. On the home made idea if cut reliefs big enough for say the exhaust so the boards contact the frame all should be good.
  7. Goals and dream are good I think. It gives us something to work towards. I had back surgery a few years back. Doc said youll be down (out from work) 4-6 weeks and you can go back but have to take it easy. At 4 weeks I begain my own sort of excersise and work out. So when I did go back in 6 weeks I was 100% Well pretty close. My goal was to not miss a beat at work. Also I wanted to be out on the bike again in that time frame. Its tough loosing friends and family, we just lost my wifes dad a couple months ago. Although we hated to see him go, we didnt want to see him suffer and he was ready. Hospice is a great deal. Them people are great and very good at what they do. They really helped us. Good luck with whatever you decide. Knock out that physical theropy and get to feeling good. Theres plenty of scoots around for sale.
  8. My intercomm cable has a tendancy to get to whipping around. So I got a couple of clips like they use in ID badge holders and clip to cord and then my belt loop or something.

  10. RagTop: in answer to your question-No. Well atleast I coulndt make it work with my Samsung Transform. I could get phone to connect and if it rang answer it using the built in mic on GPS. Which by the way not feasable on the bike. But could not get it to play thru GPS. Maybe its only a one way deal or something. I'm sure you have heard Buddy Rich makes cables to fix this so to speak, but last I head he was in search of a new parts supplier for some of the parts as one outfit quit carrying what he needed. The Gizmo PGunn listed should pretty much solve some of the issues. You could play but no answer. But you would still have to plug in up at Aux in port. So no different than what I'm doing now, Y plug @ aux port and phone and GPS plugged into that. Cables start getting overwhelming about now. Charger for phone so it dont go dead, GPS, 2 aux cables for devices.
  11. I use to carry an air pump years ago. Much bigger than they are now I imagine. But I had a triler I pulled to put it in. Last bike was a turb type tire so the need for plugs wasnt there. Now on the Venture I bought a tire plug kit to throw in the saddle bags, its the old string type. Last year I was on a trip and the need arised one morning before we left the motel we were checking tire pressures. Mine was about 3 lb low. I had bought a few weeks before we left one of the inflator deals that uses the small C02 cartriges. It worked pretty good. So now I have it with 4 or 5 "bottles" in the bags also.
  12. I just used whatever microsoft stuff was on the computer. I guess its media player or something like that. Dont know if I'm going to have to use the GPS as my player anymore. While running thru the Atlanta airport to make an 11 minute connection my cell phone became seperated from me. So unwillingly I am upgrading my phone to a Galaxy S 2 and will probably put my mp3 stuff on there. Plus I learned about Pandora and that app rocks. I rode a couple months ago for like 5 hours and never heard the same song twice.
  13. Well been looking all day off and on. I was pretty set on going with Shinko's but have just about talked myself out of it.Now leaning towards the Michelin Comanders. Trying to find posts nad research about the 130/90 vs the 150/80 though. Looks to be about 50/50 now. The Commander II front does have a higher load rating than most though @ 805 vs 761. I have the forks lowered in triple tree, acording to the chart I found in a J&P catalog the over all diameter is the same on the 2 tires. So it is just the 3/4" width difference. Man I dont want to be stuck with something ill hate for 14k.
  14. I would have to say after searching most of the day the Avon Venom is probably the closest tread patter wise. The E3 center of the tire has no tread. The Michelin and the Avon Venom have some tread that crosses the center of the tire. I had myself convinced to order up the Shinkos today but I seem to be to wishy washy about it for some reason. Maybe its the folks with the low milage wear. I would try the 130 vs 150 but if I hate it I have to live with it for 10K or more. [ATTACH]70492[/ATTACH] [ATTACH]70493[/ATTACH]
  15. I have to add Pandora. I didnt discover it untill I read this thread I guess, or maybe my son told me about it. On my trip this summer I got bored with the stuff I had loaded on the GPS (MP3) So on a gas stop I plugged in the phone and fired up Pandora on some 60-70 rock. Hours later when I got to Charlotte I hadnt heard the same song. Its great.
  16. Heck I would settle for a kit to put a cross over tube in so you could use all the fuel.
  17. I have a 765T and like it alot. I also loaded up a bunch of music, but I must have missed the step to "normalize" the recodings to the SD card. Some are fine some are really soft. I use the patch cord from the GPS to the Aux input @ the Cassette player. I used the FM before on my other bike and the problem I ran across was every say 45 min to maybe hour and 15 min I had to change the FM stations and then retune the GPS to that station as they would pick up a local station on the one I was using for the reciever station. The patch cord also gives a better quality also I think. I am using a RAM mount and a couple velcro type cable wraps to keep cables from flooping all over. I plug into the aux power on the left side of the faring. I keep a zip-lock (quart size I think) available incase of rain.
  18. I am sort of in same situation. I have E 3s on mine @ 14500 and about same wear. I have a 2 up. About 1200 mile. Trip planned in mid Oct and am pretty sure it will need swapped out by then.
  19. I can see how this could be a problem. I never had it on the bike I just traded, but it had tube type tires. I am going to need to order up a pair for the RSV so the "use the old tube" to strech is an excellent idea. Thanks
  20. My 2nd gen ocassionaly picks up some engine buzz. Someone recomended trying to reposition the audio cables where they come out of the fairing and go under the tank. Works for awhile but I guess the cables find their way back. Seems more prevelant when moving around like in a parking lot or backing out of a spot. (stock radio and equip)
  21. That is part of what got me to thinking about making a "better" one. the cast piece I could judt imagine failing. Have had some of those special tools that are out of cast and they dont allways work so good.
  22. Bob got a couple takers off the delphi venture fourms. I too was thinking just a machined piece of alum, but what do I know, your the machinest. I would probably try something like the all thread and flat stock thing.
  23. For the most part I would just as soon use the ACLU for target practice. I cant think of to many things they have done that are worth a hoot. This I can see reasoning behind. But if you aint done nothing wrong, you got nothing to worry about. I agree, for those of us that use a credit card, cell hone, fly for work, have a prepaid tool tag in your vehicle. They know where you are anyways. Besides one of my favorite shows is "person of interest". How far off could it be?
  24. OH my I know on the FJ motor if you turned it backwards you had to then rotate forward as your cams were not actually where the timing is set up. I guess it dont matter as your not running it that way and the plugs are out. Well I'm guessing the plugs are out to make it easier to turn thru. Then turn motor thru once or twice correct way before putting plugs in and firing up. Just seems an odd way to do things imop. By the way the other post I put out for buyers.
  25. OK yup forgot that dual valve thing. So to get tool out you rotate motor backwards? Or the tool turns thru? Also Bob I put a note out on another Venture fourm I'm on to see if there is any interest.
