Well finaly got a response to my question to Michelin about pressures. Now if this dont look like a canned statment. I especially like the job discription at the end.

Definatly sounds like a connector problem to me. Does it work with headsets? Or do you have the same problem. I understand there is a connector extension for lack of better discriprion under the passenger seat too. I have had speakers in a car do simular thing. They ground out or loose connection but still send a weak signal. I think your looking in the right direction.

I have run the 28 south to Franklin a few times from Bryson City area (I forget the road there 4 lane). But the 28 is a neat road I had never heard anything about and stumbled across because at the time it fit the bill. Backroad and got me from point A to B. Plan on rides over to Highlands and bridal veil falls telico plains, Probably to the Apple Barn I think its called up by Pigeon Forge/Gattlinburg area.

Orginaly they used a Yamaha FJ 1200. But that bike went out of production somewhere in early 90"s. 600 Racing (parent company of legends) contracted with Yamaha to re-produce the motors. So they are now called a XJ 1300. Which was porduced a few years after the FJ went out only as a European version I think. Same motor just a little bigger. I have seen the 1200 beat the 1300 before and regularly at times. The motors will rev like crazy 10500 rpm or more. The cars have a minimum weight of 1000lb. They a fun to race but unfortunaly for me it just got cost prohibitive. We starte to get to many kids racing on PHD's (pop has dollars) and dad worked and fixed the car while they went and listened to I pod or went and played on the swing set or something. If they had to work on the cars and understand setting them up things would be different.

Something about the rubber bumper things has been posted about they need to touch the forks or be pretty close or it will vibrate and crack them off. The 2 allen bolts that hold the lowers and passing lights on is a bit of a pain. There are a couple of spacers that go on between the lights and the lowers I think is where it goes. I just know there is a spacer somewhere in there to keep lights off fairing. I happened to have a ball allen that fits the bolts.

If the dot is not painted on the tire there is sometimes another marker made right into the sidewall. I have to imagine the "heavy spot" is probably where the belts would over lap. I have balance beads (dyan beads) whatever you call them when I get them mounted up. Also I ordered a 90 deg valve stem for the front wheel as with the 2 disc's up there the straight one is a trick to get the gauge on.

Got enough piecs left to glue it back together? -
OOPS think I missed that when I put it on the Kawi as it was under the gas tank. On the RSV its (the horn) mounted in the left leg fairing. Hopefully not pulling to much crap. Guess I could run a hose up under the cover by the relays.

Thanks, I thought so but just wanted to make sure there wasnt some sort of factory out of balance wheel thig or such going on I haven heard about. I find it strange though, I looked at it again today and where the weight is in the center lip just forward of it is where the tape a weights are. Guess maybe they missed the amount by a touch and had to re-do it.

It is if your ridin a 2009 Voyager. I dunno you think about going to the nude beach. Then you get there and find out it aint nothing like you have imagined for all these years, a total let down. I'd rather close my eyes and imagine it then see it and have to gouge them out like Rick.

I know the weekend is usualy busy there. Need to make a note and do it that Monday or Tue. Leaving Fl the 11th Oct staying over night in Robbins AFB Ga. Frankilin the 12th oct. Leaving Franklin the 17th and staying again in Robbins. I need to find some info out about the water falls in the area. I heard somewhere over by Highlands?
-
Yea I know over rated, to busy etc. I have done it once entering from the north up by the Fontana Dam I think it is. In October the wife and I have a trip planned to Franklin Nc for a week. I was thinking about mostly shorter day trip maybe 2hr to somewhere shop etc then maybe an hour over to some other littel town and hour or so there working our way back. I was thinking of up 28 across the Cherola to Teleco up to the Dam area and then down the Dragon. If your riding the Dragon do you prefer making the trip from the north side or the south?

So I have a 2 part question and this looks like an OK place to ask. I have an e-mail out to Michelin about what tire pressures to run. I ordered a 130/90 for the front and will give it a go. So of those running the Commander II's what pressures are you running? Second question. My wheel while looking at it yesterday doing some other maintenance on the bike has weights on it. I know this is to balance, but the thing that caught my eye was there is like 4-5 tape a weights on the flat part of the rim. but also in the center there are what sort of look like car tire weights (but fit much better) clipped over the center part of the rim. When changing the tires should I pull ALL weight off? Or are the ones on the center part a factory installed weight to balance the wheel itself? I'm going to run Dyna Beads.

Put an HID in my RSV a few months back. Awsome lighting. You may find room forward under the tank.

My guess is they will follow the V-Twin route. Probably use the Strato Deluxe or whatever the bike they have now with fairing and bags. Add some do-dads maybe ABS, a radio-MP3/I Pod and a few K to the price. That way they will have a competive platform (V-Twin) engine size 1600-1700cc and can bump prices up to boot. Fuel injection will be a MUST. Emisions wise I dont know how they have skirted it.

RSTD Overdrive gearing
djh3 replied to Davo's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I have a RSV, all drive train I think is the same. I am "relearning" how to drive this vs the V-Twin I had before. 4th and 5th a re my struggle too. 4th is all I try to use as a top gear around town. I'll try to force myself to use 4th up to about 60. The 55-65 range steady is tough for me, I just keep thinking I need to shift. This motor goes against the ideas we have been taught for MPG. It likes the higher RPM range for effecincy. My normal route to work I average around 36-38 mpg. 2 lane rual speeds mostly 60-65mph. I took a 2200 mile road trip which I got to do some freeway driving @ 70+. MPG went up to 42. As far as mufflers go. Just before the trip I swaped out to the RK mufflers. Pulling up thru the mountains and highways etc I decided not what I wanted. I still have them on right now trying to convince myself I like them enough to keep on. I think when I change the tires in a few weeks they are comming back off. Just to much for me. The wife aint said nothing yet but I'm waiting. -
removing scuff marks from seat
djh3 replied to cabin boyz's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Try some armour all. Mink oil will sometimes help but again here you need to wipe it well. I had some leather care stuff for my seats in the convertible that worked pretty well on scuffs. Sheep skin cover? -
Front fairing question
djh3 replied to Rscott's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
So hows your fairing holding out? I really liked mine on the Kawi. Only regret was I should have investigated maybe some that fit other bikes, as the placement for the radio in the one I got (harley road king) put the radio in an interfearence place with handlebars and risers on the Kawi. Mine had 4 speakers and it didnt matter how loud you played it just about anything over 40 or so and you couldnt hear radio. I used ear buds on linger trips to hear radio.- 16 replies

Rear shock slop in top mount?
djh3 replied to RSTDdog's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I just was thinking not pleasent things when I saw the "rust dust". that usualy is accompanied by frozen bearings or dry bearings and ugly things going on. So I tore into it. Once I took the leveling link bolts out, that dog bone rocked back and forth and I would have bet the farm something was loose or missing. Was a little better after greasing it all up but still free play. Bolted links back up and good to go. So I guess they expect the links to keep everything from swaying. I guess now I will have to look into how much of a PIA the swing arm bearing would be to lube. -
OOPS I only read as far as he said something about "lowering" and was refering to the Barrons kit. But I just so happened to be in Home Depot today and the flat strap aint real expensive. You could sort of use his dimensions for rasing and reverse and lower it the 1/2 or whatever and make a pair. I can see if you lowered the 1 1/2" like the Barrons you probably run into interfearence problems. 1/2-3/4" probably not. Yup crewed C141a and B models in Oklahoma. Good ole jet.

Nice rig Ron. Is there suspension on it? Looks like it has maybe a torsion type, or is that just mount that way for some caster effect to pull straight? Overall kinda neat. I got a buddy that makes cabinets. I bet he could make me the box part so it looks like a coffin. That ought to get some looks ehe?
