Dropping the front end was one of the first things I tried. I think I went about 3/4-7/8". Didnt ride much with the "stock" set up so no good compairson to it.

If you can hang off buying one yet. Bob Myers is working on making some that should be of better quality than the cast pieces. I havent heard what latest status was but I think going to get hardened. And there is a kit avail that ships around. I'm trying to remember who has it. I just saw a post in the last couple days, maybe I can find it.

I just bought a pair of Michelin Commander II. I went ahead with the 130 for the front after reading a lot of posts. I am hoping it will "lighten up" the steering a little. My concern is it may track some groves and pavement changes. Guess I'll see here in a few weeks when I change them. Bob I know after 3 different fronts on my 900 I liked the Pirelli Rt 66 best I think. Felt the most stable in corners. I hated the Dunlop 404, and the Shinko I would have to say I really didnt get alot of time to evaluate. It was a good tire (shinko) but I only got about 1000 miles to ride it before I traded the bike.

Look at some maps up around the Deals Gap (dragon) area. Fontana Dam is where they filmed the Fugitive (Harrison Ford one). Nice ride along the lakes there. Apple Barn in Siervierville has good eats and kind of neat if your over that way. Dalonagha Ga not to far away old gold mines and some cool old anique/country type stores. I hear tell there is a good ice cream joint in Highlands I think its called.

Come on man did ya space it out or not? For S&G did ya shake and wiggle connections? How about splitting the controller open and looking for some dampness, or possibly a broken wire. Does it (screen) come on at all or certian patter on when it craps out?

Dont know much about battery tenders. Mine is go out and ride a couple times a week. I know not everyone is fortunate enough to do that. But I understand that if you use one, dont over use it. Once a month or something is the suggested pattern I remember hearing. I am pretty sure you dont just hook the thing up and leave it all winter.

HMM I dunno. I have sold a couple cars down here. Once I sign off on the title and I have funds or acceptable barter in my hands I dont care if you use it to rob a bank. My worry is allways when I buy something and someone signs off, being able to transfer the title because someone didnt notorize it or something. I bought a race car and trailer in Ga one time and drove it all the way home to Fl with only a bill of sale. My guess is also somehow he got burned.

If your talking about the passing/fog/driving lights I havent run across anyone yet. I was looking into it a few months back when I installed and HID headlight kit. It looks like the problem is having a long enough power wire from the rectifier or whatever the piece is called escapes me right now. And the wire will probably not fit inside the tubing if it was long enough. I sure had a fair amount of wire to roll up if I remember right on my kit. Guess I need to measure it up sometime when I'm bored.

Yea Punta Gorda is the place that got wiped clean. @ ways to look at this. 1) everything there is realtivly new 2)If its still stnading from then its built pretty dang good. Oh and whats the possiblity that one will hit exactly there again in near future? Hey I lived in southwest Oklahoma (tornado alley) for 20 yr while I was in the service in amobile home (we dont like to call them trailer houses anymore ) But yea every spring I would go on the roof and make sure someone didnt paint a target on the roof for a tornado. I'll take the hurricanes any day. I guess I was mistaken about Ga not having a income tax. Here is a list of no state incom tax from ehow. The states with no income tax are Alaska, New Hampshire, Tennessee, Florida, South Dakota, Washington, Nevada, Texas, and Wyoming.

Front Brakes still soft after bleeding
djh3 replied to alta55rsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
AHHHH a perfict use of duct tape. I like that saying if it moves and shouldnt you need duct tape, if it dont move and should use WD 40 and if that dont work get a bigger hammer. I have now learned somehow I need to work in Sea Foam. Hmmmm -
I would also suggest that when you install your fuse for any added on device, use one of them nice ones they have at like autozone or advance that splices right inline and uses the same fuse as the rest of your bike. Not like the bottle fuse my lights had. http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/bsm/BP-HHM-RP/image/4/

I live in central Fl. Sebring I can be on the Gulf in 2 hours or in Coca Beach area in about 3. Lots of manufacture type homes down here and stick built for cheap if you look around. Some in comunities like it sounds your looking for. Duplex/town home type stuff. The manufactured stuff is going pretty cheap as it aint selling very well and seems to be alot on market. Be picky. Dang sure check on the HOA or lot fees. A friend of ours has a manufactured home in Lake Placid south of here by 20-30 miles and her fee is $400 something a month and she owns the house. I personaly would look into Fla and Ga as there is no state income tax. NC is high in some places for property taxs. The area over by Dalhonga Ga and Helen is nice and also rual setting. Close to mountians and should be cooler in summer.

Front Brakes still soft after bleeding
djh3 replied to alta55rsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I would suspect air trapped in either the calipers or possibly by the master. Try a light tap on the master with like a plastic screwdriver handle while static. Also try the same as you are bleeding the calipers. Sometimes this will dislodge bubbles if trapped. I replaced 2 rear wheel cyl on my wifes Durango. It kept feeling spongy. This wasnt my first rodeo on brake maintenance. It took me alomst a pint to get the air out of just the rears. It may take some time, perhaps the vaccum bleed is the solution. Your not the first ti write in about front brakes soft after maintnance. -
One power from the acc side should be able to go to booth relays I would think. All its doing is holding the contact closed. I agree, the running lights probably are not an issue with draw especially if they are LED type. The driving/passing lights (light bar) definatly need a seperate power wire if its the factory wires we are talking about. You are lucky to run them 35w off the factory supplied wires. Mine melted the fuse holder.

Glad it worked out. Its some pretty handy stuff, we use to get it by the 5 gal in the shop when I was in the Air Force. Now that your done and dont need it Im sure the other can will show up.

I took the horn that is mounted in the left leg fairing out and put my Stebel (same design) in there. Mine wasnt chrome so I hid it there. I cant get the plastic inner fairing part back on but its just the lower piece. Definatly need to run a seperate power wire and relay set up. What kind of issues did you have with the HID conversion. They are pretty much plug and play.
-
I think if you do it off one relay both sets of lights are going to come on when either switch is thrown. If this is what you want to accomplish front and rear lights on at same time you can run off one relay depending on the electrical load.

This is a concern for me. The 35w halogen (alure) seem to fit the bill pretty well in the dark. They fill the gap between the bike and the HID beam when its on high. Also helps with the side some. I was wondering about light beam with these. They are more of a flood light are'nt they? 5 maybe 10ft to front ?

adding driving lights problems?
djh3 replied to mike042's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Add a relay in your circuit. There are plenty of threads on how and why. If you add a relay into the circuit, you can power one side of the relay with a "key on power" and then the lights cant accidently be left on or someone in a parking lot mess with it and kill the battery. Oh and yea I would guess 55w would be pusing it. -
I have been using the Gold Puroilater filter. The like 3.5 long one.

I wouldnt use it. I would opt for some soapy water like Dawn or the like. I would be afraid that the GOO Gone would have something in it that might harm the coating and cause it to haze. I would try WD 40 before that.

how to make radio work in uk????
djh3 replied to treecol's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I first saw this thread I thought to myself that it must be a metric frequency output or something. I would have never thought the UK would have different radio waves. I thought radio was radio.
