I'm about 2-2.5hr ride east and a little north. Look it up in Google maps 33872. Nice area over there, not alot going one in Naples though. Maybe in the winter it gets a bit more active I dont know. East of your area is Acrcadia, farm area nice ride over that way. North of there is a place called Solomens Caslte. Look it up its kind of a nice ride over there and you can have luch after you tour the musuem. North to Sarasota, lots to do but it can be busy with traffic. Tons of good resturants. Fort Myers has the edison musuem and a downtown shopping area thats got small shops and eataries etc. January I think it is there is a bike Rally in Sarasota called Thunder on the Bay. Fri thru Sun and lots of music, food vendors and bike shows. OK I'll be quite now.

I think the ABS may be slightly lighter than the fiberglass. Fiberglass fairing would be somewhat repairable with glass matt etc if need be. However all the body work on most dressers and touring bikes is now ABS I belive. I know the Venture is.

Pretty much any muffler made for the HD FLT bikes (street glide, Road King, electra glide etc) will fit. I just took of a pair of RK mufflers I had on mine. I have taken a couple of extended trips with them. I like the cruise speed sound, but dont care for the sound under power. Not terribly loud per-say but I dont car for the tone I guess it is. Sounds to I dunno hard to discribe "blappy". Dont get me wrong they sound alright, I just didnt care for it on long trips.

OK older post I know, but I was looking for brake pad info yesterday. I found some replacement pads on E-bay for about $16 for replacment EBC hh pads. Note they are not EBC, just using the ebc reference number for the sintered pads.

Rear suspension / tire advice
djh3 replied to farm1810's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Thats what happened with my E3. Sounds pretty typical of higher milage Dunlap E3 and simular tread pattern tires. Nothing to be concerned with the "feather" looking wear pattern. If it had scallops or cupping going on I'd be concerned. I just mounted up a couple of Michelin Commander II to try them out. All the reviews I read were pretty good from wear to handeling. -
Heres a TON of pics that may help.

So do the brackets not work or whats the problem. They do sort of look like they sit high. I put one on my 07 Kawaski and it looked high until I got use to it, and it was made for a HD road king. What do you mean by handle bar stereo? You tlking the one where the radio mounts into a box sort of thing with the speakers? Pic or link would help us.

head light goes out and comes back on

Hmm does sound a bit like a gound issue. You say it did it with the OEM bulb so to my it would say its not anything to do with the HID Kit. I dont know where the ground for the system is, but if its feasable I would look at it and maybe clean it up. Next thing you might try is improving the connection in the OEM headlight plug. Should be able to close the gap in the plugs by taking them out of the socket and using a plier or something. You got the drift? -
Mounted up the Michelins today. Not a project I want to tackle very often. While I was at it I lubed up the drive shaft and the drive pins. I looked back at this thread to see tire pressures. The rear states 41 as a max. The only pressure I really saw here was 42 rear and think 41 front. I was inclined to go with what I have been running in the E3's. Also did a little research on how to mount. Most motorcycle tires have a dot or something to alighn with the valve stem. The info I found for the Michelins is what I did anyways from past experiences I guess. There is a bar code in the bead of the tires, alighn that with your valve stem.

They are relativly reliable. Like I said I shot myself in the foot when I filed the edge of the heat sink off to make it fit. I also think I had more vibration in my mounting that you will have. I ended up having to make a support bracket off the handlebars to keep shake out of it. The radio aint that hard to mount really, I use to take my fairing apart all the time. There is only like 4 screws in it holding it together. I dont think you need an amp if using a standard type car radio. Mine was a Pyle model PLCD15MR. It is a pretty heavy radio now that I go out and pick it up, it had a remote I was going to put on the handlebars too. Might be why I had what seemed like alot of vibration in fairing is the weight. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/Kenwood-AM-FM-MP3-WMA-CD-receiver-with-remote-control-and-lighted-front-axillary-port/_/N-2628?itemIdentifier=272432_0_0_. http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znetcs/product-info/en/US/kwd/KDC-148/image/4/ If you search around on e-bay you can find some decent deals. I would say 25w per channel, maybe as low as 15w if it has 4 channels 2 front 2 rear so you split your 4 speakers into lefts and rights. Part of the problem is the mounting. They all pretty much mount DIN style. Slide in and you bend little tabs over to hold in place. Works OK in a car, but not so good on a bike where you have alot of vibration. Most times you can make a bracket and attach to back of radio and mount it to the back side of fairing to help support. Look at this one. It is a shaft style mount like old days and has SD card and usb input. I would prefer an aux jack but thats me. Heres another with a clock in display, thats allways handy.

What about one of the rental places? I know sometimes by the time you rent it a couple days you can just about buy one. We had one at the shop that folded up and disassembled into minimum space, it was handy.

The wife and I did a Victory test ride days in Lakeland in Dec or Jan this year. We rode the Vision, Cross country with backrest and luggage rack and the CCtour. I really like the Vision, it did apear huge but sure didnt handle that way. But as you mentioned when we left the dealership and hit a few bumps along the way the wife noticed rattles comming from I had to assume the trunk area. Dont know if it was speakers or what. The bags dont hold near what it looks like and are odd shaped to fit things in. The two Cross bikes were about identicle in ride, although the Tour had the leg wings and vents and I dont think the regular Cross Country did just crash bars. The boss liked the trunk better than the backrest combo. Also no rattles out of the CCT. It felt a bit lighter than the Vison, but it should its like 80-100lb lighter I think. You need to ride a CCT, if you were inmpressed with the power of the Vision, youll like the CCT.

I use avast, its free and works well. Also malware bytes. IT looks and isolates these pesky virus. Download and run it first. Sometimes you have to run in safe mode to get rid of these stupid virus's, ocasionaly you have to download the malware bytes to a usb thumb drive and run them from there as the virus wont let you download them to clear them out.

The Pyle I bought had a remote, I was going to build a bracket so I could mount it sort of like the RSV is. Even if you get a radio that has a wireless remote you could mount a tab of velcro say in the center of the tank sort of, someplace easy to access and then you dont have to fumble with small buttons on radio. Then when you stop just toss in saddle bag or something.

My first pic you can see the "car" radio. It had a CD player too, but you can see the risers I had on the bike no way your getting a CD in the unit. The more I thought about it one CD at a time wasnt going to be worth it anyways. I later put a windshiled bag on and it gave me a place to put the MP 3 player while hooked up. Although it did make it harder to adjust the radio etc.

Which seals? Post a couple of pics or a link to a parts diagram. My gen 2 has seals around the lids for the bags and trunk, is that the type of seal you are talking about.

I rememeber reading a thread over on the Kawaski boards that was simular. In that the fellow changed out some of the indicator lights for LED. That was the bug in the system, and it had to do with the low fuel light. If the old sending unit was OK I would use it as a tester to see if you got the same thing going on. Sounds to me the 2 easiset things to do is use the old sending unit (if thats an ok spare) or change the low fuel light and see if that fixs it.

Well pulled the horn off a little while ago. Hooked straight to battery and the motor part of it sounds grindy. I can tell you it does not have the small port that a few were talking about as an air intake like the Bad Boy horns have. There is a moulded tunnel looking piece instead. I pryed the plastic away a little from the intake port and gave it a shot of WD40. Put it back on the bike and I think maybe it works a little better. Dont figure I could hurt it. Sucks when you go to use it and it dont work. I guess if it craps completly I'll replace with the Bad Boy as they are $20 or more cheaper. Thanks for the ideas guys.

Normally on the jug somewhere there is the CC size. Typicaly a 650 would be in the 645-650 range and a 1000 like 980 and up. I think my KZ 650 was like 649. And WOW a Dunlop D404 that still has air and tread.

I see a couple guys in the Columbia are in the assistance section. Probably about as close as you can get. Unfortunatly most dealers are closed on Sun and Mon.

Jeff, yea me too. Once we got guys to chime in about this relay and delay this and that my head was spinning. Your idea was easiest and works just great. All I did was run it like th hand drawn first wire pic. I just put the switch inline using the HID kit relay wiring kit. Just interrupt the power closing the realy and your there. Works fine lasts long time.

Mine was a Harley Road Glide model. Where my radio went and where yours goes may be totaly different. At the time thats all they had that would work for me. As you can see the handle bars and the radio were not a good fit. Was an interfearence deal but it worked OK with the little radio deal. First pic is the car radio, the second is the small radio and amp mounted in a cover plate I made, then covered in mylar.
