  1. I may have the opertunity to go up to the Mosport Raceway for work next year. A buddy of mine have talked about riding up. As of yet we dont know what month but would asume mid summer. I live in central Fl and we would be starting our trip from Charlotte NC. Are there some good roads or routes someone might give me a heads up on. This is so far out right now I dont even know if we will have enough days to ride up and get back home before the next weeks work. But I'm hopin we can swing it.
  2. Certainly could be gearing. I had a Ford Escort when they came out. Wasnt long after they mandated the 55 mph federal speedlimit (remember that). But the little car was built just before I think. I got better fuel mpg @ like 65 than 50-55. And on the cheapest gas I could find, better gas worse milage. Never did figure it out. Thats part of why now so many cars have 6 or more speeds with overdrive. Lower gearing for around town and OD for highways.
  3. I have to agree on taking the GPS out. Shoot depending on how I feel about it, sometimes when I stop for a BREAK OR LUNCH ALONG THE WAY i PULL THE UNIT OUT AND PUT IT AWAY. (oops sorry hit that key, not yelling) I cover the bike just for the previous mentioned reason, outa site out of mind. Keeps prying eyes out. Glad all your gear is there.
  4. Initial thoughts on the Commadrr 2 in the 130 size. I like it. Dont know as it makes the bike feel any lighter but I feel like the "turn in" is more crisp and definiate. So far the roads I have traveled havent noticed any pronounced wondering or following of pavement.
  5. PJM welcome. I'm over across SR64 from ya. Hope you enjoy your new bike. If you have been reading here at all, by now you have read somewhere about running some seafoam or Berrymans B-12 thru ocasionaly. This crap gas we got now is not friendly to carb bits for some reason. Maybe we can get together sometime. There was also a newer member down in Naples looking for places to ride here a couple days ago. If you havent invested the $12 for a membership, put it on your list. I assure you will get that much in info and entertainment. Too bad we only get about 300 decent days to ride here.
  6. Mike you mention "setting pump for gravity feed". What/how do you do pray tell? I'm leaving on a mountian trip next week and was thinking about just replacing the fuel filter for good measure. Currently 15500 miles.
  7. Hmm dont see a need. I see what it converts, your $$ to someone elses. Although I dont know if your local Midas shope could fab you up connectoing pipes for $55.
  8. LOL Woodward being Western. At least you all have trees and lakes. I lived over in Altus and had one lake for 100 miles and nothing but cotton and mesquete bushes. Got to get east of I-35 to get to green trees and vegitation. Man I dont miss that red dirt getting into everything.
  9. Kind of what I was getting at. As the tire wears and get "thinner" in spots it is more able to move and conform so it wears differently. Thanks for the link, I had read that a couple times before but its nice to review ocasionaly.
  10. Sometimes tires when they get older just start wearing funny
  11. Wondering what sort of out put? Is the beam long distance type or more of a flood type? Like 20ft wide and 10ft out or other way around. I guess you could discribe as short and fat or long and tall.
  12. I probably should have posted that the pic is curtesy of an article Freebird wrote. But was I correct Cougar on the wattage and wire size coments? Wizard: I dont recall seeing any H3 type bulbs in my local Lowes. I think they have the PAR 36 bulbs (sealed beams) in like the lawn mower parts section, I havent looked for them.
  13. I dont have a carb stick of any kind, but have seen this question before. Why couldnt you just swap over to the fluid these things use now? There is no moving parts or the like right? If the blue fluid works in one why couldnt you just swap it out?
  14. Glad you got some extra lighting there. But you need to be aware of a couple of things. You have 55 watt lights there, the factory passing lamps on the RSV are only 35w and for good reason. I have been told the charging system may be taxed with the 55w bulbs. Also you were discribing where you had it hooked up. Do some research on the passing lights and wiring for the RSV. You should have those with a fuse and a relay and switch to keep from possibly having a melt down. What gauge of wire are you running? Is it seperate switched? Heres a couple of links friend. http://www.venturerider.org/relay/image002.jpg
  15. I kind of like the flat/gloss chrome thing there. 2 tone the bags and stuff to match and heck folks will think its a factory job.
  16. Shows as Hwy 402 from about Lexington to Pikeville is where we got on. Bert Combs Mountian Parkway is name. Check link for a map.
  17. I get to ride over that way about once a year. This year we rode a strech called "mountina Parkway" or something to that name. I'll have to get into TYRE and see exactly what road number it is. Bob Myers on this fourm is from over that way and has loads of roads he has run in Ky. May be chilly in the mornings. Last year my buddy and I left out for Knoxville from Cincinati about this time of year and it was 28 deg @ 7 am. It stayer pretty chilly most of the day until about Knoxville. I am leaving for the NC mountinas in about a week, we are hoping for some cooler weather but not that cold. Oh by the way dont know if you have ever seen this but here is a neat tool on the weather channel site to help figure the weather along your route. Zip codes work best if you know them, sometimes it dont have the town listing your looking for.
  18. Sorry to hear that. Hope he gets well soon. As for the kid, lets put him on the back of one our biks and let him get a look from our world.
  19. As with many maintenance things there is a post or 2 about this. Just be sure to NOT touch the glass on the new bulbe with your skin. The oils will overheat the glass and it will fail. I suggest the 85/100 watt bulb if you have to change. There are some other bulbs folks like for extra light. I actually swapped to a HID kit and man ots nice. Not much more than a good PIAA bulb.
  20. I still have my mini mag I bought when I was crewing aircraft in the AF back in like 84 or something. Been alot of miles flying, driving and riding on a motorcycle. Great piece of equipment.
  21. Ya know, most times I see the first gen speed thing mentioned I now think of 2 quotes. Its not the destination its the ride. And "the older I get the faster I was."
  22. Man that flick played like a month @the local drive in when I was in high school. Lot of good ole memories wth that movie. Steve and Malcom cow trailing was neat to watch a big star just have fun.
  23. Oh yea I almost forgot. ALWAYS pack along the rain gear. It will rain on you somewhere along the way in the summer if your out more than 4-5 hours. Usualy quick and short. Sometimes its welcomed.
  24. I will admit. A great deal of us south of the Mason Dixon hack the heck out of the Queens language. Some worse than others, but they get a TV deal about aligators or turtles.
  25. I used "P" clamps. The fellow I bought the muffs from had them in the box. At first I wasnt a big fan of the idea but after mounting them up I really liked it. No muss no fuss and cant see it with bags installed.
