  1. I use a 2x6 about 5ft long or so, a smaller section maybe 4" long and the bumper or hitch of the truck. A couple pieces of 2x4 to keep brake disc from being on ground. Whell positioned so you can use the 2x6 on edge against small chunk of board on beam and pry down.
  2. My brother in law had a couple ring dingers that were aces I thought. A yamaha 100 twin and a Kawasaki 2500 triple. First one I ever saw. His 250 triple would run right with my rd 350 twin 2 stroke.
  3. If you have to do a wet compression test, roll it over some after you do it so most of the oil will be pushed out or around and not foul plugs. If reading is with in limits, no need for a wet test.
  4. Dang it. I forgot and feel stupid. We also teach our techs in training to check base voltage FIRST. I guess I forget and think it is automatic with folks. Dough
  5. Looks like it is welded to the frame there. Hard to say, but you should be able to get a better eyeball on it. Final drive oil I liked a full synthetic . Most "whine" is usually from the clutch basket. But with a lower gear ratio I could believe it makes a bit more noise. I think 70w140 may be the weight I ran, but check the service manual. There are a couple places one is available from download free.
  6. Yup have to go with a crossed up wire too. I would try the disconnect battery/reset. IF that dont do it back up and uninstall parts.
  7. I have a pair of Kury like these. They are on their 3rd bike. Im frugal like that. Must have been like 08 when I bought thm for my Vulcan. Then they went on the RSV, and now on the Vic. I will tell you the chrome has been flaking for years now. I pulled them a couple years back and wire wheeled them and painted them. So far so good. They are a comfy peg for sure.
  8. I remember many laughs because of this guy. No cursing, no innuendo or insulting people. Just funny s#it
  9. Does the key turn? If so you might try a little pressure down and turn key. Could be the seal is stuck to opening or the latches are frozen. At any rate if it has not had gas in it in 15 years, I wouldnt have any thought I could just dump some in and fire it up.
  10. Yup I used the "ford carb" filter that was screw in type supplied and also a clear glass replaceable type bullet filter up by seat. Never had a problem with the Mr Gasket 42.
  11. So is it a 49 state bike? Or a Calif emissions legal? Heck just go to Montana, transfer title and ride it back. You can use my address here in Fla, we aint got no emissions inspection.
  12. Yup Thats where my trouble was. I was confused to no end. Had just got off a 5k+ ride and next day no start. Battery voltage was good.
  13. Sounds like its backing up. There have been quite a few reports of oiling problems on the Milwaukee 8 looks purty though
  14. http://www.ebaystores.com/Wisconsin-Cycle-Salvage-Inc/Honda-/_i.html?_fsub=872399&_sid=34395240&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322
  15. Back in that area you mentioned there is a solenoid and a main 30a fuse. I made a 5 or 6k trip up to Canada and back all was good. A couple days later went to start bike, click nothing. Ran it down to the area you mention. Had some wires not in good shape.
  16. Well far as I now the 2nd gen were not chipped keys. But the lock is an expensive joker. If I remember right the "door" slides to one side. Probably from leaving the key in there alot the spring is so weak it can not push it back.
  17. Is'nt there an on/off control on the left handle bar. OHM switch out and see if it works. Maybe figure out a work around to turn the CB on without the left switch.
  18. Also double check the frame right at fork mount to make sure not paint is cracking, which would indicate the neck is bent. Heres a $3200 parts bike in GC with 14k miles
  19. Yea but them aint even full size trucks. Wont be long, anything under 1 ton will have an automatic except like the micro cars like the Focus and similar size.
  20. Jeff, nobody is offering a stick anymore in anything under a 450 I think. Dodge you could get up until this year 3500 with a stick. Extra money but I have read guys getting an allison on their Dodge aftermarket.
  21. Said on news tonight. Wife had darrenger in purse and went of. LOL Yea thats what I would say too.
  22. Jeff I got 2 in the driveway with over 100k on them and original trans. My Durango and a 2500 Diesel stick.
  23. So since this thread started we have had 2 "accidental discharges" in public places in like a week or so here in Tampa bay area. One was a cop in a middle school in the cafeteria. He was leaning up against the wall in the lunch room and it "accidentally went off" No safety was engaged. The Chief said officers dont typically use the safety. I'm like "what the hell?" Then yesterday there was a civilian in a grocery store that his "Pasco man accidentally shoots himself at Publix" Lucky for both these guys nobody was injured. Well except the guy in grocery store, he shot himself in the leg. Just carma imop. Why in the heck would a cop in school NOT have a safety engaged? If you draw the weapon it dont take an eye blink as your drawing to turn it off.
  24. For you all up north I think over $1000 for bike insurance should be illegal. But your dealing with the government and, well we all know whether its Canada or the US we are gonna get the wrong end of that. For me about every 3 years I have to go bike insurance shopping. It seems they creep up first year then however much it went up the first year that number doubles. So I end up shopping every couple years.
  25. See if it can be welded. Probably be cheaper than finding one, unless someone has a bit sitting around.
