  1. Flyin: when you mount those up make sure you point the exit to the rear or else your going to stall out.
  2. Barry, the wife and I took a week long trip to NC in Oct and fit everything on the bike. We did stay in a nice motel so that elminated stuff like hairdryer shampoos and soaps. But being it was cold we had to take heavier coats and chaps. Raingear in the left bag, coats and someother thing in the right heavy clothes like jeans etc in the trunk. And I used my T bag on the rack. The best little helper I found were the zip lock style storage bags. Think they are called space savor. Some say you need a vacume, not the ones I have. Put clothes in zip closed and roll to one end and it pushes air out. MArvolus and about $20 or so.
  3. Ahhh The riser sits down into a rubber bushing type deal, that would fit around the part of the riser you have there I belive. I can go and look over on the Kawasaki site and some guys have made risers simular to what I think your talking about. The risers on like my 900 was the "u" piece and then a stud threaded into it. They would make spacers out of like a 1/2" deep crafstman socket and change the stud. This is sort of what they look like. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/HANDLE-BAR-RISER-4-INCHES-VL800-01-04-4-4IN-AFTER-MARKET-1-BARS-02-03-05-06-07-/00/s/NDgwWDY0MA==/$(KGrHqJ,!i!FCuqFeybcBQry(ecosw~~60_1.JPG
  4. Looks alot like the ones you have pictured/ They are mounted in a rubber bushing if I look at mine right.
  5. I think I read she will do them with loops or something so you could bugee a rainsuit or something to the top.
  6. Its all plastic pieces rite? Order the deluxe and swap out the plastic side covers etc. Some times it makes no sense how these manufactures do things. I guess limiting the color saves money somehow. Or maybe the color alone will be enough to sway someone to buy the more expensive bike.
  7. Mine is like this one. It reads dead on to my expensive race tire gauge. Both could be off I supose but my other digital I have reads within like .5lb. I forget hi or low now. The 2 stick gauges I have not even close one is like yours 8lb and I think the other is in the 5lb range. I dodnt even use them for the lawn mower tires. Usless.

    $21,000 Yamaha

Yea one of my first thoughts was how about the warrenty? Also being it is "new never registered" will Yamaha finance it? How about your credit union? Will they give you the "new bike" low rate? Ad the guy that wrote this article said Obiously he has not priced a new RSV. All joking aside, that is quite a find. I have heard stories about simular Harleys that shops went out of bussiness back like before the bowling ball company bought them.
  10. Yea they got us bad. My Sprint bill is as much as my Electric bill, sometimes more.Might have to look into that option in a year or so when I'm "out of contract".
  11. They are AWSOME. I have 2 mounted on mine now. One is a real live stebel the other is a knock off from evil-bay. @ $23 its best price I have seen on this type of horn in a long time.(do not see a chrome one available) You need to make sure you wire it up with a relay and power from battery. Also after just adding my second to the right side (first is mounted up front by left foot) need to remember the horn is actually operated sort of backwards. The button makes the ground if I'm not mistaken. So power wire is hot all the time.
  12. I learned a lesson in tire press on my Kawasaki 900 Vulcan. The OEM tires went about 6K-8K. I ran the "factory recomended" press for alot of that until I noticed the rear looking worn about 4K. I started investigating and found that I had been running under inflated. Next set of tires were Pirelli RT 66 and I kept them very near the top listed press on sidewall. They went close to 14K.
  13. Eddie, man I got a chuckle out of your post. "Wainting on the key guy, then wainting on propane guy to change tank" thing was a hoot. Bad thing is I know its true man. This hurricane Sandy deal did me in a few weeks ago. Our power company down here in Fla sent like 2500 guys up to that area, NJ New York, Maryland etc. They had a report on our news that some of the guys got to New York I think it was and the power workers there wouldnt let them do anything, because they were not union!!!!! What the heck? Man if I'm sittin in the dark with no heat or power and I got some goon wont let a fellow help out because of some club they dont belong to hog wash. Basicly what the power company here said, guys if they dont want our help come on home or we will send you someplace that welcoms the help. By the way, I spent 20yrs in USAF working on aircraft. We had times it was "waiting on the key guy" stuff. Military guys not so much. We were kind of the get'er done type. The Civial service guys, if it wasnt in the book for them to take a part out of the way they were not touching it.

    Bike build off

Part of the rules should have been meet say at the exite ramp to go up to Vegas and ride your creation to Vegas. No run-no drivable-no compete. Not been a big fan of the american chopper thing. I have watched ocasionaly. but who in the heck paid for all them themed bikes they built, and who in the #ell rides that kind of thing? I really like Bert and Ernies bike. They were done on time, on task and rode the damn thing 1400 miles. I didnt think it had enough for twitter idiots public to win. Just not enough "Ta-Da" for them. I was glad to see them get an honorable mention. And the color was ++ PJD-Was cool looking and obisously had the most "public apeal". Could you ride the thing more than across town? Probably not. Seniors bike was cool in design. Space/monoque frame design was out there. They did make the majority of the parts and bits. Tie for 3rd in my book. JJ's bike was a tinker's dream. Fidgit with this make that all cool stuff. But unless your a real gearhead they dont look that close at that kind of stuff I bet. And when he started talking about a sport bike yada yada I too thought Buel. If he wanted to be unique on his build he should have went with a different motor. Maybe one of the old Kawasaki 750 triples or something, suzuki water buffalo something outside the box.
  15. I dunno, last night on the news they said something about a non-unnion worker makes on average $1500 a year less than a union worker. So I have no idea what your monthly dues are but conservitavly a guess would be somewhere say $50-80 month? So thats a min of $600 a year your giving back to somebody else that your paying taxs on. Then count in the 4-5 weeks every year or two it seemed my brothers use to be out of work on strike or plant shut down and I dont really see it as a bonus. If you want to join go ahead. Anymore I dont think ANY employer has to give a reason for firing anybody. They just state "below work standards" and out the door you go. Workers have little to no bargining because there are "a 100 people outside the doors looking to get in".
  16. Several of us have installed LED light bars across the bottom of the trunk for extra viability. Mine is only 3 LED but operates as tail & brake lights. Helps the bike be seen better. I got 2 off e-bay for about $15 shipped. As for the shorter antennas, maybe you could flip the bracket the current ones are on. that should lower them about an inch or so and no cost. Also from personal experience think about a brake/hyd fluid flush/change. I lost my rear brakes in the mountians because most likely old fluid.
  17. I too was wondering if the tire press is "the same" for the different brands. I switched over to the Michelin Commander II both front and rear. I cant swear to it but I think the max is 41/40. I have been running about 38-40 in the front and 38-40 in the rear depending on if loaded up. I use the same gauge to check them. I did buy a smaller gauge to throw in the saddle bag to take on trips so I could check and it reads consitantly .5 psi lower than my "main" gauge. So I would say pick a gauge and use it all the time. If you can compare gauges, if they are close to each other I would say thats all you can ask for. I prefer the digital ones myself. Here is an e-mail I sent to Michelin: I am looking at replacing my current Dunlap E 3's on my 2009 Yamaha Venture. Your tires I am looking at using are the Commander II in a 130/90-16 front and a 150/90-15 rear. The weight of the bike is listeed @ 870 lb. What would your recomended tire pressures be The best air pressure recommendation for the original equipment size tires is to use the inflation pressure as specified by the bike manufacturer which can be found on the placard located on the bike frame or in the motorcycle owner’s manual. They have determined the optimal inflation pressure for load, ride, handling, rolling resistance and treadwear performance. We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing Michelin. 18. Barry if you are taking it to a shop for oil changes I would sure in the heck hope they were using a "motorcycle" spec oil. I misunderstood that when you and I PM'd back and forth. I thought you were going to do some of this. I lowered the front of mine by the tripple tree methiod. Mine is like 3/4-7/8 range. I am thinking about maybe going the full 1". I think I have a steering bearing a tad loose and need to tighten it up, so when I do that being it will be close to apart enough I'll do it then.
  19. Barry welcome aboard. Lots of info around here on almost anything you care to know about your RSV. If your asking about lowering links I have to guess you would like the bike a bit lower to the ground? You can also lower the forks in the triple tree (which is what I did) and it sort of helps the heavy steering feel. I could probably take a ride one day after holidays and meet up for lunch if you want to meet half way or so. Have to see what the boss has in store first.
  20. Blinker light bolt is good idea. I was thinking of a "p" clamp to the same tube. Dont think I would want them mounted to plastic, atleast not without say a rubber grommet between surfaces.
  21. At the price I saw like $135 range for me its not a "economical" substitution. I think at that price I would just go with the Kuryakn or one of the made for lights you know is going to be correct beam. Thanks for the options though. Looks like it would make a heck of a "back up" light for backing trailers and such. Oh and the ocasional JA that has hi beams on in your mirror.
  22. Dont know how it is there, but here in the states she could be sued in cival court by family. Wont bring them back but could help get message across. Bikers could get bumper sticker made "I'm a killer" caution I cant drive" and plaster her car with them. Get neighbors to pitch in and put up yard signs that a killer lives next door with an arrow.
  23. Yup same kind of deal. I got probably 4 or so from computer speakers in a box. Most of them are like 9v, some of the cell phone ones are 3 to 5v. But thats the idea. My way of recycling. I knew I was savin them dab burn things for sumptin.
  24. I dont know specificly what the lamps you are talking about look like. A pic would help. But on a guess are you saying the on/off switch is located in the back of one of the lights? I'm going to also take a stab you have the current ones run via a relay and you plan on just using what wiring you already have and connect your "new" lights. I should think that you could just pull the wiring out and access the switch. Disconnect the switch and by pass it, then connect like the current one is. I would try home depot, lowes maybe tractor supply and find a rubber plug to pop in the hole to keep FOD and water out. Dont know if you could find any chrome type cap that would actually seal it.
  25. Long as you favorite college dont hire Skip Holtz. He won like 6 games in 2 or 3yr @ USF. Suprisingly they showed him the door last week.
