2007 Yamaha royal star venture blue/black color

My battery was acting funny, so I just read up on that. I ordered one from Bohanon's over by Jacksonville Fl. There was a link in another thread the other day. I had to pay tax and it was like $92 shipped to my door. If out of Fl I think they run about mid $80 range for the DEKA. -
Boy unless they can get busy fixing these places it is going to take a toll on the tourism this summer.

I went from E 3's to the Michlien Commander II. Stock rear and the 130 front. My bike is also lowered 3/4" up front. Is it better handelig than before? Yes Is it the design of tire? Who knows, couldbe because its "new" But it is an improvment over the worn ones. lol Dont know as I can say I notice a big difference in low speed handeling but possibly. I can tell you it feels more positive in wet conditions. That is part of why I went with the Michilen vs Dunlap. I liked the tread pattern of the Michlien, as it appeard the every other or third grove crossed the center of tire to pass water. The Dunlaps the center part say and inch maybe had no groves to disapate water. They fell positive in corners also.. My Dunlaps were at the point the rear was getting "noisy" in corners. But I think thats just the way bike tires get. The DUnlap did show some tread cupping. I would have to look it up but I belive the michliens have a little higher capacity rating too.

Yea I'm glad I already made an addition to the post here few days back about "silly thing I have done" and lived to tell about it. I can remember having both cars the same brand (fords) and putting the key in and wouldnt turn. So pulled keys out, thought I switched and still nothing. Well shoot the lock picked a heck of a time to crap out. I went in garage to look for something and the wife jumped in the car and drove off. Hmm I seperated key rings after that.

Cause of the fuel pump failures
djh3 replied to orlean1's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
My brother in-law has a early 2000 ish G20 Chevy van. He had a couple of them die on road and he uses his van for work. Left him high and dry. Mechanincs tell him "no reason" just the way they are. And car/truck ones are submerged to help keep cool. He now changes one out as regular scheduled maint also I think. -
Meach, could you google map up the aprox spot the road fell in? I have run that 441 alot from Franklin NC down to Madison,

Royal Star series Repair Pro Disk

What does it have on it? Is it like a Clymers on disc? Or more like the Yamaha shope manual? I have never heard of one myself. -
Yup When I first got bike I closed petcock every night when parking. Then next day I would ride a little ways and cough cough oops open it up. My other bike was FI so didnt have that issue. So I have just got out of the habit of messing with petcock except when flipping to reserve. If its going to sit for several days I try to remember to close it, but not allways. And yea Jeff glad I didnt have to make another trip to RS.

While sitting in the wainting room I got to thinking. I closed the shut off valve while working on the filter. When I got home, sure enough it was still closed. DOUGH what a dummy.
-
Went out started bike to go to Dr appt. Started fine but whlie warming up just died. I changed the fuel filter the other day and I knoticed it sounded like the fuel pum ran maybe twice as long when key is turned on. Even if you turn it on prime up then turn off for a couple min it runs alot when turned back on after short period off. I will double ck to see filter is in correct way. But does it sound like the pump just took this opertunity to crap out?

Aviation fuel is listed as 100 or 110 LL most times. Meaning its "low lead". Has been for lots of years. Not certian what the content is but on non-cat stuff your fine. I would hesitate in putting it into anything with a cat. I ran the stuff in race cars for years, and it smells great to.

Whatcha talking bout Willias? Its been mid 70's to 80's for weeks dude. We are getting a cold spell tomorrow for a couple days. Lows in the 40" highs in the 60"s Might have to look for the jacket. -
+1 +1 on the RAM mount. Check around though. I yahoo searced/googled motrcycle GPS mount or something and lots of stuff came up. Prices very by anywhere from a couple bucks for the complet deal to as much a $20. If you go the tha actual RAM mount site it will ask type of bike, what kind of unit etc. Then it gives you a list of part number you need. Like the ball mount for handlebars, the GPS mount and a mid piece that has a clamp devise. There a various lengths of these pieces so if you think you wanted it mounted say closer to you than the dash you could get maybe a 7" one or something. $43 from the RAM site itself. These parts. RAM-HOL-GA34U mount 9.42 RAM-B-103-238U 4.13" arm (medium sized) $18.12 RAM-B-231ZU handlebar mount. $14.80. Heres everything you need for $33 plus shipping. GPS city shows $40 plus shipping. Like I said shop around. I didnt put mine in the aqua box for a couple reasons. Unless its pouring, behind the windscreen it dont get wet. If its raing that hard chances are I'm making a direct route and dont need the GPS. 3rd if I doo need the GPS in inclemet weather I carry a zip top bag big enough to fit over it and a rubber band to help seal it up.

Congrats man. I like the color. IT sounds like a decent deal, not a "man I got to have it" kind of thing but a good deal none the less. Also being you got the additional information that put you at ease makes it good. Sounds like the gent knows how to take care of things when storing them. He probably took the battery out so there wouldnt be all kinds of corosion and leaks. I think your a smart fellow for adding the new tires, I'm sure if you look closely at them youll see weather checking. Shoot my 09 had a late 07 and a 08 manufacture code tires on it and they were cracking by the rim. So I figured if I'm changing one the other cant be far behind and I went for it. Post some pics after you get it. Nice to hear about "barn finds". -
My 09 had E-3 on it when I got it. They felt as good as my 900Kawaski did with the Pierrili MT66. Wich was the best I could find for it. After doing some research and a couple fellows suggesting them here I went with a pair of Micheclin Commander II. So far I think they feel a little more stable in the wet than the Dunlaps did. I happened to catch them on sale @ jake wilson. Most of the time motorcycle superstore is cheaper for me.

I was going to say. FRom what our weatherman here in Tampa Bay area said last night, you all are in for like 3 days of rain. We are suposed to get some Thur I think then temps drop for a couple days.

Original Flasher Modification
djh3 replied to Hotrod's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Here is what I tried today, and didnt work. I had a variable resistor (trimmable potensiometer) I adjusted it down to .4ohm. Put a male spade connector on one side and the female on the other. Pulled the brown/red wire from the flasher unit and installed the resistor inline. Which is the wire that goes where they show the modification being done. Should be the same thing right? I also did the same thing with the brown and white wire as was suggested just incase I had the wrong wire. So I dont know whats up with those electrical theroy's but it didnt work. -

First one I tried to buy was blue, might have been solid blue though. Somewhere around 05-08 range. If skill wise your ok with fixing some things that helps. I would definatly want an up close and personal inspection to see what I was getting into. If the dealer is going to inspect and give some kind of warrenty or maybe help some on the cost of an extended warrenty......... -
Partially my fault. I thought I put a link to the actual lights I put in and it had all the specs etc. .06 amp draw Made in USA, 10yr warrenty. Found on e-bay here. They come in clear lens, red or amber. also black or chrome outer housings. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/USA-MADE-Tecniq-Red-Clear-LED-Clearance-Side-Marker-Light-1x4-Camper-Trailer-/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$T2eC16h,!)!E9s2fDwrYBQkTifl!Bg~~60_57.JPG

So then its considered "non_running". I think if it was me I would want new tires on it. If it in deed has been sitting that long the tires have probably taken a "set" and has flat spots. I would be cautious about not running, I would want a battery in it to check all the goods out. Especially if you dont have warrenty to fall back on. AS far as the shock goes, I think its kind of one of them things thats been known to go bad but not everyone has the problem. Maybe you can work out a deal to split the cost or something. I would hazard a guess the dealer didnt give much either, less than 8k would be guess. Good luck. -
Way over my head dude. Maybe I can dazzle you sometime with my knowledge of military cargo aircraft or differentials or something. Eletricity aint my bag. I can struggle thru some stuff but all the ohms laws etc is why I pay my $12 a year. lol If we share our knowledge amungst us then knowbody has to know it all, right? Should be able to finnish the back half the bike, lights on crash bars by bags and the additional light on the back. I am going to replace the reflectors up front, but I know I have to split the fairing probably and I have a Buddy Rich cable comming, so I'll kill multiple projects then.

I dont know what the hay is going on. Now all is good and I have signals from the 5 pin connector. Beats me. So been trying to take some pics along the way. Got like one side almost ready to mount lights. Tired of bending over and stooping for now so I am taking a break. Sure hope this looks decent when I get done. lol Thanks a bunch to Flyinfool and bongobobny for thier input. Without it I would have probably been struck down by a lightning bolt by now.
-
Well for me the only "law" thats working is Murpy's. I can pick up a turn signal back at the rear light, but how come there is no signal right at the flasher unit? Only signal "flash" I get is on the brown white wire and it dont matter which one is one it flashes. I tried the connector under the seat by battery "5 pin square" that has the tail lights running with it but I get no flash. It goes back thru the fender so I fugure this has to be the harness with all the lights for the rear.

1K pot. Got it turned down to 328.x and light works. Cant ride everything is torn a part. Option one solder it up and use it or option B use the pot for the turn signal LED mod so they dont flash so fast.
