  1. Best prices I have found have been www.motorcyclesuperstore.com. I did buy a pair of Michelin commander II for my RSV last year from Jake Wilson as they had a sale and it made them a tad cheaper. My RSV had Dunlap E-3 on it and got 10-11k on them I didnt buy the bike new so I'm guessing they were OEM tires. I liked them but at end of milage they got kind of noisy. I read good reviews on the Michlen commander II so thought they were worth a try. I had a shinko on my 900 Vulcan and it seemed like a good tire. I only put about 3k or so on it so dont know about milage.
  2. Yup the cargo strap was going to be my next suggestion. You could fab up a couple of guides to run the straps under. Pop rivit them to the top and then run the strap over lid to hold on to it. But I would be cautious how much I would crank it down. Them things dont look all that sturdy. The other idea I just had was to mount the ratchet end to the trailer and then cut the strap down to a couple feet say and drill a couple holes in lid and use some feder washers under it and screw the atrap to the lid. this way you wouldnt have to run the strap all the way over and possibly have the straps whistle to you going down the road. I have had a few things with that style of "over center lock" None seem to really work well.
  3. I have found that my cable whips around on me sometimes. So to stop it I have been using ID badge clips you can get at office supply store of your choice. http://ts2.mm.bing.net/th?id=H.4581313740407533&pid=15.1
  4. Jeff if the Gen one has as much power as you all claim getting it back up the staisrs should be much of a feat. A couple planks and let'er eat.
  5. You talking about tie down rings? How about some of these?
  6. I almost hate to say this, but that was what I was thinking all the time when I was reading about extending the tounge on these. I figured slip a new length of either square or you could use "C" channel flipped up side down and bolt it together. Might need spacers on inside if using channel to keep from distoring it but double bolt on both ends and I would think its good to go. I have been looking from time to time on my local CL. Boy do I get alot of trash to sort thru when looking for "motorcycle trailer". Most time not really what I'm looking for. Its the ones you use when its broken that show up.
  7. Mine "seems" noiser than the v-twin 900 Vulcan I had. To me sound like top end noise, I'm thinking valve train. Especially when first started up, sya first five minutes or so. then I guess its got enough oil it quites up. A long screw driver or engine stethascope would maybe help narrow it down. No rockers so you dont have those banging around. My 900 Vulcan I got an odd rattle at like certian speed/rpm range. Turned out it was an exhaust heat shield. Lock tite and good to go.
  8. You have to give the motor company some credit. They sold alot of people on the cool aid, sort of like apple. Not saying it aint good stuff, just that there is equevilant gear at less prices. They do have some neat stuff, but I dont want to pay to advertise thier brand for them. Speaking of advertising, do we have Venturerider t-shirts available?
  9. Thanks RedRider. The speed on that one should be plenty fast.
  10. Congrats, so whats your first holiday off? April 1? :rotf:I personnaly would be suspicious of a hire date of Apr 1. But it will look cool in the records.
  11. Unfortunatly knowing how some of the bidding goes on those type things you could be right. They probably had them sourced out of China. So they sell them without batteries, the buyer puts batteries in and they burn up, Boeing say "they were not the correct source" no warrenty.
  12. I just pulled the router out of the loop. Direct cable modem to my PC. Speedtest thru the comcast site and get a 16.8mbps download and 4.21 upload so to me sounds like router. I have opened ever tab I can find to do with the NIC card and dont find anywhere to adjust said properties.
  13. I guess I'm blind and cant see it. I open device mgr and open the network adapters which shows my ethernet card. But none of the tabs when opened show me anything about the speed or a setting of 100mbps. In network connections>local area connection it shows speed of 100.0.
  14. looks like youll need a trip to the hardware store of your choice.
  15. I think he mentioned that when it got hot the top got flimsy. I would look into maybe some alum strips and rivit/screw them to give it a little stiffness. If I could find one of these things cheap donw here I might go for one. A search on CL for motorcycle trailer brings up to much junk I aint looking for.

    GPS

WOW they still use radar out there. Lazer is THIER new tool of choice. Cant slow down fast enough when they flip the switch on that bad boy.
  17. I did remember something about a seperate switch on it (the unit). you have to open the saddlebag and turn it on/off as you want it right? A relay energized by key would solve that, good thinking.
  18. My son has XM I think. He got the unit that is "portable" Seems to make the most sense. He can move from one car to another rpovided you either move the antenna wires or buy a second kit for wires which is what he did. My self, my sattalite radio is Pandora on my smart phone. 50-60's Alman Brothers, Stevie Ray Vaughn Creed I'm all over the place. lol
  19. Win XP I thought I put that in there. Reset router to 100mbps. It was on 10/100 auto. I looked all over in the wireless settings and never saw anyplace to reset or change connection. Dont look like it did a whole lot. Just ran a test 3 times. Best was a 9.83 download and .99 upload. Shoot before the upload was 1.94
  20. I had simular bars on my 900 Vulcan. I mounted up a setof the Kurakin Adjustable pegs. I liked them so much when I bought the RSV I took them off the 900. I think they are called dualy. I got them used off e-bay for about $35. Just need to make sure you are getting the correct size clamp for highway bars. They come in about 3 different sizes.
  21. Will have to check router settings. I went in to device manger and looked at the card on my computer. It is a Microsoft PCI adapter MN130. Specs say its a 100mbps card.
  22. Heres one I found. I think it came off a goldwing site but the connections should be the same as the headsets cross over.
  23. HUH I looked thru the sservice manual and that thing is worthless on TS the charging system in my book. It tells how to ohm it out but no voltage check other then at battery with everything hooked up. It just so happens I had a stator go out on my 900 Vulcan. Way more common than it shoud be for those things. But anyways I was just on the Kawi fourm today involved in the TS of a stator issue for a fllow. On those it says run @ 5k rpm and reading across any combo of white leads (I'm guessing thats the common or something they are all across the bottom next to each other) is 54v. Dont know if this will help or not, but its more info than the Yamaha manual has.
  24. THe luaghs are important too !!!!! I like to chuckle at the weekenders with the leather, boots with all the buckles jackets with studs and that stuff and no helmet. Thinking they are cool man. I just wonder how hot will all them studs and stuff get if they take a slide? Or do they add an extra layer of material to wear down? I see a guy with a nice bike out somewhere "ah cool man what year?" Shes an 09 with 3500 miles aint it nice? "whats it been broke down so you cant ride much?" and watch them look puzzled.
  25. Not using the WIFI part of PC. When doing the speed test it is hard wired to modem. R45 cable I think is what it is
