  1. THe luaghs are important too !!!!! I like to chuckle at the weekenders with the leather, boots with all the buckles jackets with studs and that stuff and no helmet. Thinking they are cool man. I just wonder how hot will all them studs and stuff get if they take a slide? Or do they add an extra layer of material to wear down? I see a guy with a nice bike out somewhere "ah cool man what year?" Shes an 09 with 3500 miles aint it nice? "whats it been broke down so you cant ride much?" and watch them look puzzled.
  2. Not using the WIFI part of PC. When doing the speed test it is hard wired to modem. R45 cable I think is what it is

    GPS

My buddy and I rode a route a couple years ago I would have been in a ditch or something somewhere if I wasnt going by the GPS. I had direction in the tank bag but it had alot of road changes in a few spots that were um lets say Kentucky DOT wasnt up to the task. Many of us that have rode for years, we never had a GPS back in the 70-80's and beyond. So maps were it. GPS does make it just that much easier. But your right even if you lay out your own route with software, you had better check you work. lol I did a route and it ran me 20 miles or so in a loop to go across where I was. I think now you can do your route on Google maps and inport to a Garmin, dont know about other makes. If you do get a GPS look into a RAM mount for it. I decided to not go the "lifetime map update" route. My reasoning, how often do they really build new roads? Heck they cant even fix the old ones.
  4. Yup used the speedtest.net. Without router it gives me 12mbps and sometimes even better. Put the router inline and its cut in half or more. I have a d-link dir-615 now. I'm thinking for the $50 extra they can keep the usb. I aint had it so I dont know what I'm missing, ya know?
  5. I had a pair on my last bike. 900 Kawasaki Vulcan, granted a lighter bike but I really liked them. I got very good milage out of them over 12k. Let us know what you think after a few thousand miles. I'd be interested to know how they milage out on the heavier bike.
  6. I do some online racing in a league. The last couple weeks I have had som ebad warp issues. So I did a speed teat and my service I'm paying for @ 12mbps runs like 6.3-6.7 maybe as good as 9 once in awhile. So cable company sent a fellow out, changed thier modem and a couple other tweaks. Its better but still under 9. If I go direct modem to PC it runs 12 or better. So best guess it router is slowing it down. We have also had problems with the wireless part of it, almost every day you have to reboot router to get any wireless device to connect. It like the signal fads and drops. The 2 routers I have seen I seem to like are Asus rtn53 and a rtn56u. Kind of pricy dudes but good speed. Biggest difference is one has USB connection for a printer. Right now my printer is connected to the other desk top. If I get this router can I connect it to the router and then print from say your cell phone pic without much hassle? They are about $50 difference and unless there is a huge advantage to the USB connection I think the rtn53 would work good. Any help is appreciated.

    GPS

I bought a Garmin 756t refurb a couple years ago. under $100 even with extended warrenty thru square trade. At the time I bought it I wanted 3 things. 1-programable with a map program. (I use TYRE its free) 2-Had to have an aux output 3-FM transmitter. At the time thats how I was listening to it over a radio on the bike. that system dont work real well but the aux out does. It isnt waterproof but the plastic baggy work OK. When my cable shows up from buddy it will enable me to connect my phone thru blue tooth. It has an SD card for tunes. I still will even if I have the route all loaded in the GPS, print out a map of the days travel and put it in the map pouch of the tank bag.

I used to look thru CL but it gets expensive if you aint careful. www.jayski.com for nascar info and a few.
  9. That was pretty close to the time they started the "twin I beam" front end stuff wasnt it?
  10. I know man. Now if we could get the egg heads in Washington to do the same...............
  11. Yup if it look like Jacks ole #07 its time to go. ESPECIALLY if its on the rear brake system. I can tell you why from experience if you need to know. PHEW Cougar I know I have read it here a few times but to replace all the bleeders with speed bleeders is what under $20-30?

    aharbi Down

Sorry to hear about this event. Prayers go out man. Scarry deal. Reminds me though as I ride solo alot. I use to allways on the back of my helmets have blood type, and alergies none on a piece of the ole Dymo tape. The old plastic embossed stuff. I gues it came from the old moto cross days. I'll be putting something like that on my lids in the next couple days.
  13. When I read the part about games thats what I was sort of thinking. Instead of a cow chip throwing contest you could use old helmets. Or take an old tire and chunk helmets at it and see who gets the ringer dinger. sort of like horseshoes. Now this is some progress like congress needs to make. Putting heads together to figure out a soultion to the problem instead of a way to spend money you dont have to create new ones.
  14. Why do I find it so hard to get rid of the old skid lids? I buy a new one but never seem to want to get rid of the old ones? Last couple I cut the straps off and chunked in the trash can. I saved the buckles and have some web strap I sew together and it makes a pretty good tie down on the bike
  15. I have used old floor mats out of the car (the rubber ones) and also have cut up an old tire and mad mud flaps sort of for the old trailer I had we pulled behind the bike. cut the bead out of it and used the tread part and side wall. If you find someplace that has old racing tires the tires are a bit more flexable after cutting out the bead (metal band)
  16. Cant check them when hot either if memory serves correct. So bike will have to sit for hours to cool off if your riding it there.
  17. From that there notch in the center. BTW that was a 9" CE Bailey.
  18. There was a thread a week ago or so about this. Refer here.
  19. Barry if I'm not mistaken you can measure from the bottom of the chrome strip and it will pretty cloase. I think a stock OEM is listed @ 19". Mine measures 19.5 so you can subtract a half inch and should be pretty dang close.
  20. Yea, although I love my ocasional Krystals or WC burger dont think I can justify 200 miles to get one. Then have it hang around all day long too. Now I did find a nice burger joint up in Lakeland called Burger 21 that is worth the ride though. I'd ride that far for some good mexican food.
  21. On another fourm a memeber called the place mentioned in the OP (levine auto parts). They told him that the bulbs mentioned were NOT LED they were incandesents. Even though if you look at the pic the one bulb certainly looks to be an LED. At the price it dosent suprise me really. 2 good deals in the same week would be way way to much to ask for.
  22. From what I remember Barry you take the chrome trim off the front (2 screws on the backside sort of forward of the grips) Then carfully lift sort of towards the seat and up. There are flimsy plastic tabs with pressure "keepers" that hold it in. then the windshield has a square cut section in the center. Mesure from the cut to top of the windshield. I was looking ar a clearview I think it was a fellow had for sale in the 12" variety. I measured up the 12" and used a piece of masking tape to figure out where it would be. For me too short. I think I figured I'd like about 15" or so. If you need a little more discription on the trim removal search out splitting the faring.
  23. I work with some fellas that ride. Some own motorcycles. We were talking after dinner one night. These 2 guys that own a sporty and a dyna ride up. We talked a few minutes, I knew the trailered the bikes there due to driving company pickup truck down. I asked them if it was true that with every Harley purchase you get a free trailer to haul it around on. I didnt get a very big smile from them. The guys standing around that ride on the other hand got a pretty big kick out of it.
  24. I'm running the commander II in the 130 size. I havent noticed any significant changes. May be a little better at slow speeds. The E-3 Dunlap is a good choice. I was alos looking at a Shinko tourmaster. On a previous bike I have Pirelli MT 66 and they were great. I dont care for the wear I got on a pair of the 404 type tires on a Kawi 900.

    2nd gen fan

Just a thought. But I know on a cage I have had air in the system and it does not transmit a temp like if it was water and so the sensor dont know how hot it is actually. Hmm did I explain that plain enough. If the sensor has an air bubble where it is it may not pick up the correct temp to turn on the fan. You did say you had refilled the system, possibly an air bubble?
