  1. I know I have probably been a PIA on a couple registrations. But when I see something that looks odd, I usually try to give you a heads up.
  2. Well if its like the 2nd gen and in the lever housing, WAG would be an hour is what they get. Actual changing the switch if your doing it 40 min or so. Depends, I have never looked at it. My Victory would take me more time to chase down the wire connection in the fairing than changing the switch.
  3. I've run both. I prefer Synthetic. The additives in the Syn oils have longer lasting properties. May be psychological but I feel the Syn shifts better. I also run the little bit longer oil filter. I have run the Shell T-5 I think it is blended, T-6 Syn, Mobil 1 10w40 and V-twin 20-50 in summer, Valvoline MC oil, and a couple others. The T-6 is my go to oil even on the Victory.
  4. Looks like a miniature fat bob I think it is with that solid looking front wheel. Just took a peek @ the virago 250 parts fiche I could find. By cracky I think they also run both exhaust thru one muffler via a cross over box looking thing. Good luck with the project.
  5. There are knock off types available on e-bay too. I have bought a couple of those and had good luck. But I have yet to hear an OEM bike horn thats worth a crap. They all sound like crickets, some might be mad crickets but still.....
  6. I was thinking all that was missing from that mess was some scotch loc connectors. But sgetti sauce was a good one. Man that is a mess. I guess in the mass produce get them out the door process crimps work.
  7. How about a simple Simon way to figure out what goes where. Small battery charger, a couple wires and power up each wire to see what it lights. Any 12v source will work, I use my small battery charger. Granted the turn will have to be sorted out, but once ya know which wire powers what. I had a flat bed race car trailer I bought. One day it was blowing turn fuse, then next week it was brakes. My wires were pinched and insulation was pretty brittle. I got some extension cord and used it. Worked great.
  8. Oh my. I can feel for the guy. Little to no experience and seems everything is going sideways on him. Wonder if maybe a previous owner had a wire break or something and got things swapped around. You or I would just start at the front and rewire or repair it. Maybe he could haul it down to the get together thats going to happen there in Vizona or wherever up there that way.
  9. I also pulled the "removable" heatshields and wrapped the pipes with exhaust wrap. Did it help? Beats me but psychologically I suppose
  10. I just used some round aluminum and longer screws. You only need about 1/2" or so to get it out far enough you dont have to remove to split fairing.
  11. LOL to funny, a mower filter. I figured out which Fram fuel filter worked. Somewhere I got the number.
  12. Have you tried here Steve? Maybe e-mail the guy to see if he can help you out if it not listed here. https://www.timeouttrailer.com/wiring_diagram.html
  13. I had a 78 or 79 back in the 80's somewhere. A whole 175bhp woooo It was OK and fun for awhile. I forget which model but the big ugly one the front end flipped up, was rumored to orginaly have been sketched up to be mid engine. And looking at the body I could see it.
  14. WOW That could have been way worse. I was going south on I 95 by Coco Fl. The lanes got narrowed down to 2 for a good distance and backed up with cars and I had a car hauler in front of me. We got to the end of the construction and a few hundred feet past there I had switched lanes and I heard something funny and then smoke and out comes big ole chunks of tire
  15. I just put my 3/4 ton dodge up on craigs list. First couple days got 3 or 4 e-mails, I did not put personal E-mail or phone # in ad. 3 of the responses were some sort of "I have trouble with CL email, whats your e-mail to communicate directly. LOL Yea like I'm gonna do that. A week later nothing. Oh and an ad to sell something is no longer free on there.

Hmm may have to add a can of that to my inventory. I also need to pick up a can of Kroil This is some fantastic break free stuff. Liquid wrench and WD got nuttin on this stuff.
  17. I dont remember from my test ride back when it came out. Is there some air management ducts, wings? On the XCT Victory I have some wings under the fairing and then the leg fairings have doors that you can open. You would think if its hot the more ope they are the more air flow, rite? Well unless your just dead stop or stop and go traffic jam, about 2/3 open is all you want, other wise it seems to duct more hot air back at ya.
  18. What and where is this mic your talking about. If its the comm mic I spent way more than it was worth for a "guaranteed" noise eliminator. LOL suffice it to say it did nothing for it. But what it is basically is a piece of 1/2" heat shrink with a hole rite over the pick up.
  19. Yep, thats my thoughts charging system. Will need to do some fact finding. Alternators on these have been known to go out, have fried connectors due to high charging rate, and the rectifiers go bad also. Depending on how skilled you are it is fairly easy to trouble shoot. It has been gone over in several threads. Ricks Motorsports Electric is where I got an alt for my Kawaski and for that model it was actually an upgraded piece.
  20. Man wish we would have had advance notice on this event. I can imagine at one point "hold my beer, watch this"
  21. I wonder if they are using rubber O rings or a silicone type.
  22. We on the Victory bikes like to call it "positive engagement" I only thought the Venture was loud going in low gear. My Victory the bottom 2 gears are like that. Yea and on the clutch fluid I changed brake and clutch fluid every 2 years after a scare in the mountians one year when rear brakes faded out.
  23. Dont know if you all have a Autozone or something like that. But out auto parts stores, some have tools on a loan program. Basically you put a deposit on tool use for the day and bring it back in good condition you get deposit refunded. Get the hand bleeder/vacuum bleeder and its a pretty simple job.
  24. LOL "ex mechanic" I dont think there is such a thing. Glad you got it figured out.
  25. Hmm how old is it? Color. Dont think it is near as critical to have fresh fluid in clutch as brakes. Air sounds like your culprit. Any visible leakage on left side under motor?
