I have a question for you all on the TD side of the house. Is your ignition switch as apt to fail you as the ones on the RSV 2nd Gen? Is the wiring harness the same so the the same by-passing of the switch with a relay works? Same 2 pin Yakaza plug?

Penz-on If you like lots of traffic, crowds Ft Lauderdale. Smaller towns on the Gulf coast, Naples, Ft Myers Venice are nice. Edisons Winter home is in Venice, pretty neat hot rod musem in Naples I think it is. The guy has Chevy's from like the 40's thru 2000's or something. Venice has a little more going on than Naples I would guess. Sanabel Island is a nice place to stay so I hear. Brake Pad likes it. Sarasota has John Ringling home and museum. He was the big circus guy.

RTV/Gasket dressings
djh3 replied to dna9656's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I will depending on the gasket normaly put a thin coat on the lower surface typicaly to hold the gasket in place. Now if you goop it up your asking for trouble. I can remember way to many times I had to use the wire wheel to remove what was left of cork gaskets off a small block chevy valve cover someone used the ole permatex aviation type sealer on. Now rebuilding a 2 stroke.... yellow dog was your best friend. (3m weather strip adhesive) -
Help: Lowering Bike with Barons Kit
djh3 replied to ksufan05's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I have not used one of the kits. But as I understand it it is a replacement for the links connecting the shock to the swing arm. So you will need a support of some sort to hold the bike up while you are working on it. I'll look when I got a chance and see if I run across something. Did you run a search here for lowering? Here is a link to a write up that may help you out. Pics and all. -
I really like that you can plan brakes in, fuel warnings at so many miles figure in the time of the brake etc. I dont leave the CD in the computer and it still asks me to update construction info. The only reason I bought the 09 version is my previous one quit updating construction. Oh by the way if you havent checked out TYRE here is a link. For me much easier to use than the base camp thing.

I dont think so. Maybe if it was going to be a very short time to try to "clean" it out for some reason. If you put it in and ran it maybe 50 miles then dump and change maybe. I would have to read the side of the can again, but I dont recall it saying anything about "final drive applications".

I had one little 8mm headed bolt left over. Couldnt for the life of me figure where it went. I would think a small retainer bracket or the like. My luck the front end will fall off soon.

Plus whatever on the Streets and Trips. Mine is like 2009. Works really well. I supose a newer version has a few more bells an whistles. I had 05 before this and it did construction and road updates for 4yr or something. I dont think I have ever got mine to export as aGPX file though. I use TYRE. I will lay the route in S&T adnd get GPS cordinates for places like gas stops, places to visit etc and plug them into TYRE. Then map the route. A bit time consuming but it works. TYRE is free but will not do the milage sectioning you want. It will give you a total of the milage for the route and milage inbetwwen turns etc.

I can probably find you some National Champion FSU swag.

Randy I entered the USAF in Jan of 78. Comming from Fl about the second week it got cold. To me it was really cold and of course thy dont really give you any cold gear just a field jacket. There was a bout 3 weeks of that bitter wind blowing cold. I got so sick I got to spend 2 extra weeks in joyus San Antonio to get well. Then up to Witchata Falls Tx. Pretty dang cold there while I was there too but atleast I could go and buy some warm clothes.

By the looks of things Maybe depending on how your going and when you leave. This winter weather seems to be a kick in the butt everytime a front goes thru.

Mine is in the $400 range for full coverage. So yes I think you should be able to do much better.

A: Not soon enough B: When someone goes to the Honda dealer with a firearm. C: When a flash mob shows up spoofing it. And of course gets it on you tube

I rememebr my brother also telling me years and years ago there was a difference in "european metric" and "Japanise" metrics. While both might be a 14mm there was just enough in the Japanise bing smaller you ran a bit more risk or messing the bolt head up.We at the time had VW so we had some metic tools. But the ole Honda was still a PIA. I have on ocasion used a #1 phillips bit because it just felt like it fit a bit better. So far I havent had any issues. Thankfully Yamaha went to internal wrenching (nice I still remember that from my USAF days) for any bolts with higher torque requirements.

I had Pirelli on my 900 vulcan. I got about 8k on them but it was a lighter bike. I liked them well. This bike being bigger and heavier I went back with tires folks had proven out for my first time. On your issue I would definatly look at tire press first. Look at sidewalls ans see what max is and go maybe 1lb or no more that 2 under what it says. The bike recomende pressure is going to be for ride not handeling, so pretty much toss it out. Once pressure is set look at rear shock for leakage. How much pressure are you running in it? See if you got any leakage of oil.

I have full coverage, because mine is still financed and it is required. The liability part I have is 100/300 Way above minimum requirements. The uninsured/under insured part is close to 2/3 of the cost of my premium I think. And it goes up every year because more and more dont have insurance. I dont know about the liability not required if you wear a helmet thing. Somehow that just dont make no difference. Not wearing a helmet makes you more careful? I dunno?

I tried to look thru Fla motor vehicle site to find an answer. As usual nothing straight forward. Call them or stop by a tag agent and ask them.

So just what is different from the JIS and a std head. If I was to take a guess its the pitch of the slots or something like that. If you replace a screw on the bike with another "regular" metric its only the head thats different right, not the thread pitch/count? This would explain why I mangled most of the screws on the 305 dream and RD 350 I had.

I read the first line and figured the US was out. Spanish is our new language. Then the more I kept reading on it began to look and sound more and more like the kids texting.

I predict the Bucs make the play offs next year. They just hired a coach with some experience in the NFL. I take exception to the NASCAR remark. Its easy you put 2/3 of your money on the 48 and then pick your next favorite just incase.

PHEW 3 days in on this project and I'm probably a couple hours from firing it up. I'd like to choke the jokers that designed this. It just seems silly to have to take this much stuff apart for something that is a common as valve adjustment. Good thing I had the tool. Just about all the intakes were to tight. Exhausts were all good I think and only one or two of the intakes did not need adjusting. Man there was some big ol honkers in there. 288-282-285-280 Just about killed my spare 275 to 280 supply. I will admit I'm probably going a bit slower than some. I'm kind of taking notes along the way. I have now figured out that perhaps there is a better disassembly process than what looks obvious. The air box hootus is a PIA to wiggle out. I can definatly see where 2 guys working on this would be alot more productive.

Tire Mileage Question
djh3 replied to RAm5700's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
RAM my 09 RSV came with E-3s. Got about 12.5K out of them. I was heading on a long trip and didnt want to chance it, plus the date codes were from 09 so @ that time they were 3yr+ old. I went to the Michelin CommanderII. I was OK witht the front being a tad taller and narrower. E-3's are a good choice also. I normaly buy mine from Motorcycle Superstore. They will do a price match and shipping on stuff over like $89 is free. Also Some of the guys have been pleased with Jake Wilson. I can tell you from when I changed mine it definatly pay to compare and shop. I also run the balance beads type compound in my tires. I also change my own and it saves me from having to take them to a dealer somewhere and balance them. So far I have over 16K on the Michelins and they still look good. Aip pressure is the key it seems on milaging out tires on these things.
