  1. LOL windjammer fairings. Man they were the bomb. Back in them days nobody made a "touring" bike with a fairing except HD and I think BMW. Everything else was piece it together. But they were a nice faring. I had 2 on different bikes and a Pacifica on a GS1000 and a Custom Dresseres on the same GS. I really liked the frame mounted ones.
  2. My brother had one the exact same color. He still had it when he passed away. My mom was allways sooo owrried he was going to hurt or killed on it. Turns out he hit the back end of an illegaly parked steel truck in Detriot on the corner he was a school patrol on. Those bikes were the king for a long long time and still do well in my book. Low maintenance. Easy to adjust the valves (unlike some certian Yanmaha models).
  3. I thought maybe they had an event for kick starting them or something.
  4. Yea I get songs stuck in my head too. Sometimes good, some not so much. The other week watching Grammys there were of course songs I havent heard and some in what must have been a different language. Some wede big winners and I couldnt see why. But one by a gal called Lord titled royals got hung up in the cobb webbs. I dont like it but its like some of the old jingles off TV or the "its a small world". Dang thing is just stuck on repeat. GRRR
  5. Ya know, being you are machining all the tubes etc to mount. Why not machine a fland to sit against bucket and thread the back end. Then tube would sit in bucket and the nut would tighten to hold lamp mount vs an epoxy or glue. Just a thought n maybe you have already been there.
  6. Theres a fellow on the Delphi board that is parting out a 2000 RSV. But I think he is canada just an fyi.
  7. Rain here in Fla is exactly why I went with the Michelin. I like them. I went to new pads when I changed tires. I think I put EBC pads in.
  8. Where I live I dont have a "dealer" per-say. We have a couple of independent shops, but they seem to cater to the Milwakee crowd. I supose I could have them order it and mount or at least ask them too and see what they say. I guess I have been lucky. I have bought at least 3 or 4 seta of tires from MSS and not had any issues with anything. I did have to do a little hoop jumping to get them to match a tire price one time though, but they did.
  9. I have been close a couple times in the last couple years to a 1000 mile trip, but the time just wasnt right. I did however run across a site long distance riders that at least I get some credit for my longer than average type rides.
  10. Looks like you would have got plenty of flex from the neck and those looong fork tubes. To heck with the springs. lol My brother got one of the 750 fours when they first came out. Back then that ws a pretty big bike. I kind of think thats a bike that got big red up and competing, and then later the goldwing.
  11. Here is a thread on the Delphi site where a fellow is parting out a 2nd gen. Dont know whats still available. I think he is in Canda though so shipping might be expensive.
  12. Is'nt that the same place a kid walked into school with an arsonal and wiped out most of the school? Well I'm offended they are here getting a free education on my dime.
  13. Well I'll be.......
  14. MSS is probably just trying to cover the bases. Make sure you didnt put wrong size equipment on something. Besides if they know Avon is on board, I dont know what they got to loose.
  15. Anyone ever heard of this unknown or marked Vietnam memorial. A friend of mine just sent me this link. Its up on the contental divide.
  16. They dont weigh that much. I would have to say that with out knowing the torsional load and twist etc of the engine and how the frame is made vs the other earlier TD I would have to leave them alone. thats not to say you couldnt maybe machine them down a bit and maybe some sharp looking billit pieces or something. I am one of the first to say say that "behind every good train wreck is an engineer" but I too think they probably had good reason to put them there.
  17. Yup Mike, I'm in central Fl. Our idea of twisties is an on ramp for I-75. I'm almost dead center of the state. You say its a logo? Seems odd place for it.
  18. I was vastly disapointed last year when I got the info my company was "reorganizing". I took the deal as I figured if I wasnt gone in the first set of cuts I would probably be in subsaquint cuts. $8hr is average around here and $10 is a "good" paying job. Really? How do you make a house payment, elec, ins groceries etc on $400 before tax? Well I think my company figured out they boo boo'd because they asked me to come back for 1 yr and "help" them thru the transition and get same package at end of 2014. But I'm still not looking forward to the job hunt thing. Especially in this job enviroment. There just aint nothing it seems. Hope thing work out quickly for you.
  19. Glad to hear they are standing behind thier product. But what about the $$ your out for mount and balance? Do they cover that also? I mount my own and use the balance bead stuff.
  20. Whats the chink there about 3 o'clock in the pic? Looks a bit "square" bu so does my Michlien. Happens when your mostly on highways.
  21. Some where in the thread here somebody said something about fuel pump froze up. That could be plausable with the ethonol fuel and the way it collects water. I woundr if by chance it got some water in fule and then it settled in the fuel pump? Maybe set a trouble lamp in the area for a little heat and try it in a few hours? Its hard to figure. I read this and walked out in my shorts and flip flops and mine fired right up with very little trouble.
  22. When I switched I decided to try a Michelien Commander 2. I had the E-3 but the rear got noisey as they do. I read good things by folks with heavy bikes about the Michlien wear. I have to say I have 15K on mine and they still look good. I liked the tread pattern, that the cross goves went all the way across the center section of tire to get the water out in the rain. The E-3 didnt have that.
  23. WHAT no seafoam ad? I'm finding this hard to belive.
  24. Just read a post from him. I think he is all in on the cam removal.
