  1. LOL Brake Pad Left bag has rain gear-a must in Fla. If wife is going with on long trip I have to take the C/D player out of there because it is so big. Spare bungie cords, tire plug kit, small C02 inflater, spare headlight bulb. Also a cover for the tour bag. Right side bag on a trip with wife. We pack our clothes in those space saver bags you get at bed bath beyond maybe wally world has them too. Try to fit her clothes into some of those bags and mine each in our own bags. Pack like socks and underware in one, pants and shirts in a couple. I have to use the trunk for carrying these also. We usually have a bag on the luggage rack also and most times I use a tank bag. I think I could carry more gear easier on my 900 Vulcan than I can on this with the trunk. If your 2 up investment in the tour bags for the luggage rack are worth it imop. Check you craigs list you can find some deals on that sort of stuff. If you use the space saver bags (space bags) or whatever they are called you dont have to be to concerned with the elements getting bad as everything is already in a plastic bag. I have also used and still have military "laundry" bags. Look like a round duffle bag but are a rubbery type material. Hope I havent been to far off base. So far tool kit has consited of what came with the bike and a leatherman. I mean hey its a venture not a Harley
  2. So what your actually sayin is you paid for the bags and got all that steel for free?
  3. Actually he saved way more than the $12. You figure he got the "replacment" filter number here instead of giving the Yamaie dealer probably $28 or more for the filter......Soooooo Its almost like money in the bank.
  4. Okey Dokey Here is what I found out today. A really nice member primebeef and I met up today. He has a really pretty blue 08 I think it is Tour Deluxe. I took an ECM by pass harness with me and a by-pass relay. The ignition switch by-pass relay is a direct fit. Plug and play fellows, the ECM I have to build a different harness with a different connector. Which at this time is not yet available to me. So if interested e-mail me, I will do my best to get back to you.
  5. I dont know. Alot of models per say but whats the difference really. I have allways had a hard time telling the difference between a electra glide, ultra glide u-glide CVO or whatever. Paint and pertties? It will be interesting how the "water cooling" goes over. The HD hard and true were not real receptive when the v-rod came out. To me thats the motor they should be trying to make a touring bike around.
  6. Marc have you got a relay kit?
  7. Maybe the reason they call it a limited is because its limited who can afford one.
  8. Check around. Many volunteer fire dept an churches and the like have big ole smokers. Maybe you could borrow or rent one from them. Unless you just got to have one. Other option find a Hawaian fellow and ask them to cook one up in the ground.
  9. I went to Michelien Commander 2 and they only come in the 130 front size. I went ahead and tried it as I can use the low speed help. I have put over 12k on it at highways speeds and super alb speeds for hours and never really noticed any difference from this tire and the E-3 in the 150.
  10. ION: where are you looking to add additional power tap? The additional audio stuff is a snap being radioshack has the "y" connector and the cables reasonanle. I would heat shrink them to keep elements out. First time I split the fairing I think it took me an hour or so. I was sooo worried about breaking something or messing it up. Now I can have it split in about 15 min. Make sure you get the 3mm allen in the scres square or it will round them out. If you have the passing lights unless they have a spacer between the triple tree and teh bracket you will have to remove the bolts holding it on. I take a heavy towl and drape on the fender to keep it from scratching the fender. Splitting the fairing
  11. On the bucket issue: Where the piece broke off is it preventing the shim from being installed and seated fully? If you have the piece and the shim still installs correctly and its less then say an 1/8 or so of the lip I think I would run it. Unless you happen to have the spare parts. As far as changing it...... I just finnished a valve check on mine @ 30K All the intakes were out and one exhaust I think was not where I wanted it (on the close side) I belive that to replace the bucket the cam is going to have to come out. That mean retimming the cams etc. When installing the "new" shim I allways try to give the shim a tap with something like a screw driver or brass drift to make sure it is seated OK.
  12. Yea I agree with the majority on the subject. Even if everything looks brand new and out of the box. I would allow $$ to replace tires, I would replace the oil, fuel filter and drain the fuel in it. Bleed and purge the hyd system (brakes and clutch) Look the hoses over for brakes. You might even talk them into changing the antifreeze. Sound like alot of things, but once you own it you can gradually change these things and probably would have.
  13. Got a message he made it home safe and sound.
  14. We lost that fight a long time ago imop. If the gov would set up snipers on the boarder with night vision and tracers. Shoot the peopl illeaglay entering the country it would slow alot of the crap down. You wont get them all but when the guy next to you gets dropped and all you hear is a whizz thud, the will think twice.
  15. I can remember a few times riding to work on base. It was my only tranposrtatio and in southwest Ok its usually colder than ... but not much snow. Will freeze at night on ya though. I was on my way home one morning about 7am and a sleet storm hit. Dont ya know that was fun. windshiled sleeted over, I'm trying to look over the top and the faceshield is frosting over on the inside. When I got home (about 10-15 miles) I took off my field jacket and it stood up on its own in the bath tub with the arms still pointed like I was hanging on to handlebars.
  16. Uechi Kid: Which kit or what did you order? Have you got around to installing yet? I dont know if this is something I need to look into doing yet. 30K and no signs of it slipping yet.
  17. Grrr ya know now that someone mentioned it in this post I do remember seeing a post somewhere and the guy had the bike front end hanging from a sling to the rafters. Now if he was doing steering bearings I dont remeber but I think so. I tend to belive if you could suport the front of the bike, take the handlebars out of the risers and lower the stem out you wouldnt have to disconnect all the cables and lines. Probably still have to discombobulate the fairing inner though. Hmmm Back to the search.
  18. On one of the after the news filler program before network TV starts they always have out takes of funny lines from the late night comdey shows. Lenno had a quip something about an "exobanant amount of money spent on a study in a college only to find out that fruit loops regaurdless of color all tast the same. You just had to know they were going to study this with the pot being legalized right?"
  19. Well heck. Not like it was a big suprise out of no where. They had been telling folks for 2 days it was comming. They knew it was going to be bad, just not how bad. So lets recap. Roads are going to freeze and snow so lets go drive in it. I dunno. I know some folks had to go to work, but I dont get the part about kids being stuck in schools over night. Why did they even open?
  20. Boy Dave couldnt have hardly picked a crappier weather to come get it either huh. I dont envy him driving over and back in this stuff either. Glad its going to a good home though. You did hear about his story and all right? I'm sure he told you. Pretty unbelivable.
  21. I should know something by Feb 3 if the ignition by-pass part of this is a plug in deal on the Tour Deluxe also. If the weather is OK Fri I am going to meet a member with a TD that has allowed me to see if this plugs in just like on the RSV. now the ECM side for a "keyless" operation back up should the switch burn up, as of now I can not get connectors to fit the TD. The RSV I can get them and have sold maybe 5 or so of them.
  22. Sounds like it. Aint this intro-net thingy neat. Sure am glad ole Al Gore invented it.

    Grammys

Have to say Pink is probably one of my "new" favorite singers. She kind of reminds me of Janis Joplin. Hearty and soulful. You can understand what she is singing to boot.
  24. Like alot of things I think they have thier place. But its not a "one size fits all" deal. Elderly, certain illness or situations those folks probably should get it. I just vitamin C up thru the winter and hope for the best. So far since being out of the USAF since Jan of 96 I have had the flu twice and one of those was in the summer.
  25. Hmm my Galxey wont fit!!!! Would probably have to have a flip phone open.
