  1. I cant testify to it, but I think all the "aftermarket" add on light bars I have seen are small bullit type lights. Not the PAR 36 bulbs 4.5". Mine has an OEM type.
  2. I have not investigated this yet. So how hard is it to get to the fuel pump/points. I know the fuel filter is a @#$% I have located the pump, are they on the end of it?
  3. Dan I checked mine. both are Tahiland. I have over 12600 on mine and they still look good.
  4. Hmm I'm wondering, I use to make my old ignition points last longer by sandpapering them ocasionaly. Think this would help the fuel pump points?
  5. So you are looking for the size of inlet you will need for a replacement muffler? I saw last year where a fellow put some thrush muffler on a 1st gen. Wouldnt it be easier to go the HD RK route. You could still get the black BBQ paint and take care of the chrome issue. I have a set of RK I can measure the inlets on tomorrow. But it seems to me they are less than 2"
  6. Dan I'll look tomorrow. I aint crawling on the garage floor this late. Well not without some help or a reason.
  7. I remember something about raising the idel up a few hundred RPM too. I belive that will take some of the pulse out also.
  8. 3mm for the allen size of the head of screws for fairing. If you can find a 1/4" drive one it may be easier. The bolt head that holds the passing lights on is a 6mm. I have had the best luck with a 6mm long ball allen on it. I dont care for a ball allen if you can go straight in on the screw like the fairing and saddlebag bolts. Advance auto parts carries a 3/8 drive short allen metric set for around $20 I think. The long ball allen you may have to find a snap on dealer or maybe NAPA has one, but its kind of a special tool so sears probably aint going to have one.
  9. Bob I have been using TYRE ever since I got my 765T. You can easily (unlike the base camp thing a ma bob) make a route and it will use your waypoints thru your route. I have made all my trip plans thru this program. Work simular to Microsoft streets. It is a free program.
  10. I really dont know if splitting the faring would make changing the headlight out any easier. Unless your going to pull the whole thing out once its split. Way more work than you need. Turn handlebars to far right, good light helps a bunch also. It is tight but can be done. For me the hardest part was the spring clamp thing holding the bulb in.
  11. Had an ole school mechanic I studied and worked under for alot of years tell me "the best kind of oil??? Well clean oil of course"
  12. Look thru the 2nd gen side of fourm here. I think someone was removing thiers. I only remember because they had some radio issues or something and thought maybe it was connected.
  13. Cant remember now if I had just the one bracket you can see or if it is secured by another lower. Pretty sure I would have secured it down and not allowed it to flop around.
  14. OK so within reason. If the spec is .004 to .007 Aim for the higher end of spec. I had a couple that were at the minmums. I had some spare shims, although within the limits I figured it was better to adjust them now and not have to worry about being out of spec before next adjustment time.
  15. I mounted mine on the left side with the thin metal bracketry they sent in kit. I carved it up so it would work using the mount scres for some piece of electronic equip under the faring.
  16. Yup as a general rule for the valves error on the bigger clearence side. A fellow once put it to me as the valve springs are trying to pull the valve thru the head so if the clearence on the shim/cam is small it will not close eventually.
  17. Splitting the faring is no big deal after a couple of times. Of course I dont know how much work area you have either, and working outside I would guess is a no go.
  18. AH yes. Seems I was in a conversation over on the Delphi boards about this unit. The question arose about clearence for a fan unit on it or something like that.
  19. I have had real good response off the Delphi board. A few guys here have bought them also. Thanks for the support. I guess I need to see if I can list them on the page where members sell things. Dont know how to go about that though. Also I am able to make the ECM by pass. All you have to do to make the system "keyless" should the switch fry out is install a toggle switch. Most folks though tell me once you install the by-pass relay you wont have a problem, it sort of solves its self.
  20. On the second gen the LED headlight is a major project. The lens is glued into the bucket and is not a seperate piece. It can be done and there is a write up on it around here someplace. Most of us have just opted for the HID.
  21. Load your music on your phone and use it for mp3. I use mine for pandora. I also have the 765t and its a good gps unit with the mp3 capabilities. Searc e-bay for mp3 maybe "motorcycle mp3" or something like that. I have seen some neat small units. The on/off with ignition may be a trick.
  22. Mine pops cb. Last time I replaced the heatelement. Now cb is poped agin 2-3 yr later. I havent got around to trouble shoot it. I just discon the element and see if breaker will stay. Sounds like yours could be on way out.
  23. From what I understand on the XP thing. MS is not updating anything for that OS anymore. Drivers, bug fixs etc or security fixs. The "threat" is that as it get older and now no support hackers are going to be able to get into folks computers easier. If your running a firewall should not be to much of a problem and keep an anti virus updated. I think anti virus folks and the like relaize not everyone is going to jump right on the win 7 or 8 or whatever it is this month. I would suggest budget it for an upgrade and talk to your IT guy and maybe a couple others. You should be able to upgrade your machines to use the newer OS without problems. May depend on your "home company" software and its interface.
  24. This posted on a RSV fourm. :rotf:Actually I didnt think the Vision was as top heavy as my RSV. Seemed more managable at lower speeds, it heavy dont get me wrong but it seems managable. Well to some extent, I'm sure at 46 deg tipping over your had but.....
  25. I would probably go with a Victory. CCT would be first choice, Maybe a cross roads (clear windshiled same bike as CC) Or a Vision. If they had the heat thing figured out maybe the Kawasaki voyager/Vaquero
