  1. Well kind of in a jam and need PC back up and running. I have a buddy that build them for alot of our online racing group. Current machine was an AMD 64x2 dont know series. Had ddr2 ram. I have a 500w PSU in it and a nvidia gso9600 pci express card I would like to keep. It has worked well and I think its new enough to do a decent job. I'm kind of an AMD fan. The last 6 PC I have built ground up ahve been AMD. Well 2 ground up, new case etc. Everything elses has been more of a refurb kind of gig like this is. MOB goes out and replace what you ahve to to get running. Sometimes is MOB and CPU sometimes its alot of stuff but the case and drives. I have 1 SATA HDD and one IDE HDD. The optical drives probably need to go as they are IDE or whatever ribbion connections and have adapters on them to work. Probably best to just s#i* can them and get one good new dvd/cd write drive. Current case is a mid tower atx I think aprox 18x7.5x18 MOB is 10x8.5 aprox so mini atx? I dont know been a long time since I built it. OS is XP so Its out of service here in a couple weeks. But not sure I want the hassel of learnig the windows 8 managery. But Dont want to buy win 7 and it goes out of date here in about 2 yrs as far as support. Kind of been researching CPU today. The Phenom 2 x4 look good but pricey as are the FX 6 CPU. I do some online racing on Nascar 2003 (old game I know but its a good group of fellows) some paint and graphics use with photo shop CS and anothe rolder version of a photo shop. Other than that mostly e-mails etc. No war craft, Call of duty or that stuff.
  2. Well my trusty ole home built bit the dust today. I know its been 7yr or more since I rebuilt it. I suspect the MOB it gone from the troubleshooting I have done. Its an AMD Athlon 64x2 Looked for a replacment MOB and heck they want $50 or more for one. I'm pretty sure thats the problem but do I want to bet $50 on it? Plus its old tech and has XP which is going to be unsupported here in a matter of weeks. So toady I looked at different ready to go PC from tiger direct. Trouble for me is I have not kept up with the processors so I am not sure whats an Ok processor and whats going to be just about as antique as my current one. Plus the machine has XP on it now and support goes away for it in a few weeks. So I have been looking today at desktops with everything from a AMD a-6 series to the FX 4100 and FX 6100 CPU. Part of the problem is the power supplies are so dang small they dont leave you any room to add a decent video card. Maost come with like 220 maybe 300w psu. I have an nvidia GSO 9600 I would like to reuse. I would like to satay under $400 but it sure dont look like that is going to happen.
  3. I'm with ETCSWJoe- IF Yamie brings back a touring bike I bet its on the big twin platform. Air cooled Strato liner type.
  4. Is this going to be like Flyinfools thead?
  5. I can remember crossing on I 20 from West Memphis going east and that whole flat land there before you cross into Tn was under water. You could see roofs of house trailers and the ocasional TV antenna.
  6. Yamagrl, yea thats a nice ride and nothing to scoff at for sure. 800 miles in a day is a good sized chunk of road, especially when you think about it being backroads. Mine was all interstate, but your rite Cowpuc the miles just sort of melt once you get in the groove.
  7. Last summer I did this trip. My buddy and I had left outside Toronto Canada the morning before so like 750 miles the day before. Then I made this leg from Blufield Wv to home map shows 785 miles, 6 states and I left Wv @ 7am and was in my drivway at 7:30 pm that night. My trip was not as leasurly as yours. LOL was still kinda cool. Probably as close as I'll get to an iron butt. In case your wondering its 62.8 mph average mph. That included going trhu Charlote NC, the hidious I 26 from Columbia to I 95 which your lucky to make 65mph and construction in Jacksonville fla and hitting Orlando @............yup 6pm. My buddy and I for the last 3-4 yr made an annual trip up from Charlotte to outside Cincinatti Oh. All on backroads. Was fun on a couple of them trips to see how many time you could cross in and out of a state on one road.
  8. Wife and I got in 170 miles. WEnt to Plant City for the annual strawberry festival. Its sort of like a fair, all the great foods your mom or Dr tell you not to eat, rides exhibits, concerts and oh yea did I tell ya about the food? Strawberries made into all kinds of delectiable eats. Parfets-berries, custard then cake cake and whipped cream ,(sp) funnel cakes with strawberries on them, short cakes you name it. ummmm
  9. Steve I find that is one of the things that bugs me about this bike. If I am going out of a parking lot say and there is a sharp bump or change of pavement I hear a clunk. I know its the tripple tree/forks loose. I have adjusted it 2 or 3 times already and its making the same noise again. I really hate to think I am going to have to take it all aprt and put new bearings. I may have warrenty left but dont know if I trust the dealer closest to me as they sell mostly them side by side things. Suprising the acorn nut was that loose though. I had a crows foot that would fit it at one time but it evidently has grown legs.
  10. Wow Steve looks like they like those as much as the By-pass relay set up I'm making. LOL Good luck with it. The plug and play is just such a much nicer way to do things. Plus I HATE Scotch locs. They serve a purpose, but I have chased so many ugly eletrical issue because of them things UGH. It is a nice piece your making.
  11. So you wouldnt be interested in hearing the wife and I had a nice 86 degree day trip of 170 miles up to Plant City to the strawberry festival. Strawberry short cakes, roasted corn on the cobb, just about any kind of fair food you can think of. MMMMM Oops sorry I heard a rumor summer was on its way up that way, but decided to stay south for a couple more months
  12. Is it the radiator or the small filler tank up by the gas tank? Depending on the place the radiator is leaking it may be repairable. The top and lower tanks are plastic and ABS. What kind of a price are they looking to get to replace? If you have mechanical skills and somewhere to do it, its not a terrible job. Just a bit more than exchanging the fluid. But here is something in your favor for the shop doing it. They are part way there when doing the vavle check. They should have the left leg faring off and water drained anyways to preform the check as there are thing concerning that cooling system that had to come out. So they shouldnt charge you twice for removing the leg cowl, drain and fluid for the rad. Another thing to find out, is it leaking from a plastic part or the core. The core should be very repairable. Plastic, unless a radiator shop knows something I have not heard of they just throw them in the trash most times if plastic is hurt. I just looked at Bike Bandit and MR Cycles and the rad goes for over $300 ouch.
  13. Angel Just noticed your an AF vet also. Thanks for your service also. Wheels are turning. Can you fit the furnature in say 22 ft of u-haul truck. Pack bike in back of truck and maybe put van on trailer? Unless its a mini van they get kind of picky about how big a vehicle goes on thier trailer. Then only have to buy fuel for one vehicle.
  14. Dan I have a carb sync and so does Barrycudda. Its a fairly easy job. Tow the plugs it needs to be engine cold and youll have to remove the front top engine supports to get at the plugs.
  15. I'm getting ready to mount up some red LED under my rear bags and wire them into the running/signal lights. Flyinfool-the lights you mentioned at first I think we use to call "tennesee blue dots" I ran them for years and never had any problems. But it only takes once and a JA po po.
  16. First off welcome to the Sunshine State. Prime Beef is over that way in Ft Myers, I'm a couple hours towards the center of the state. Couple others on north side of Tampa bay. Thats off the top of my head. I moved here in 96 and had a U-haul 26' my wife in a van pulling a 16' utility trailer and my Bro-inlaw driving my pickup. Check with u-haul and see what price is. Sometimes you can get decent price if you drop to a place less folks are moving to. But the fuel is so dang high now that may be a wash to drive say 100-150 miles out of your way. I think the PODS or u-drop whatever they call them now is for a small houshold probably the way to go. Are you forking the cash to move or is someone else? Have you checked with a moving company? Depending on your packing skills even a 8x24 cargo trailer may not get your stuff all in it. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
  17. Making my 3.5mm earphone jack had 2 points. First it gave me a way to hear music better with the shorty I like wearing when solo. Alos gives better sound for music and I can hear the wife better with less noise. We also have a push button mic mute inline we use to turn off voice comm to cut down on all the "woosh"
  18. Yea thats the model I have. They are OK. I personaly feel that if I turn it up enough to hear the wife then I have a bunch of background "woosh" Go to far and then you get intercom squeel. There are some better wired ones but the price goes up with quality. If you can get away with under $150 I would say OK. Bluetooth is probably the way to go, but on the RSV it presents problems adapting audio system. What I have done is installed a standard earphone plug and wired it in so I can hear better by running ear buds. The mic seems to work OK but the speakers on the J&M lack a little in clarity. Looks a little like this pic, but I found connectors so I can put it inline with audio under the faring.
  19. I am going to be one of those caught between a rock and a hard place. I am running XP on all my machines. I know service by MS is ending. I used 98 until it just became impossable to find drivers etc. So is Linex compatable with windows programs IE office, Photo shop, open office? What is cost?
  20. $29.44 on e-bay and free shipping.
  21. Yup had a modualtor installed on my Kawasaki before this bike and actually had it on this one until I went HID. I would install it on the passing lights but I think the law man would have something to say about that.
  22. My luck it would bounce me into oncomming traffic.
  23. Not carried a guitar but I have carried a pair of RK mufflers from the other side of the state. Crossways on the passenger seat. I carry a suitcase every week for work, and sometimes way more. I took the allen bolts just behind the crash bars and got some "P" clamps from the local hardware store. I think 1/2" or so. Put bolts back thru the "P" clamp and tightend up so clamp was open side up (when you look down it looks like an 0) now I have someplace a bungee end will fit thru nicley. Then from clamp around object and usually up to the luggage rack on trunk.
  24. May be worth a look see. My old ford from high school use to eat points left and right. I got to where I carried a pair or 2 in the glove box.
  25. Something to pay mind to when adding these additional lights. The pair that Haloosinator has mounted look like the typical aftermarket ones at autozone or advance. Watch the wattage on those guys. Alot of them are 55w and the electrical system just cant power them without issues. Also hopefully you have them mounted on a circuit that is relay powered or the ignition switch will fry. I keep looking at LED lights, they may not be really any good if the primary go dark but some extra ones to be seen would be good. I am trying to figure a way to mount them off the chrome bolt that holds the lower leg farings on. I think a longer bolt and some sort of spacer so the bracket dont ride on the faring, then bend to aim.
