I have one Stebel I got off e-bay and then the horn on my truck bit the dust. I was surfing -ebay and found a similar knock off horn for about $20-25. I bought a couple and one is on my truck and the other is on the right side of the bike. They are great. When you have to use them sometimes the cagers are looking for the semi they PO'd

You already replaced one? You say you did a check on the fuses. I hate to ask, did you ohm them out? Mine wouldn't start, nothing no power. I'm thinking the battery is dead and its less than a year old. I had just got off a long trip to Canada. So I looked stuff over it all looked good. Even the main fuse, it was pretty dirt and ugly but "looked" ok. Finally ohmed it out and the fuse was bad. How it went bad and never shoed a burn spot I don't know. How about any relays involved in the circuits, or if there is fuses under the fairing to the gauge pack. Is there a connection under the fairing where it plugs in? How's it look. Not picking on ya just throwing ideas out there. lol

Hmm looks like a pelican case with speakers.

Jeff thanks. Yea once upon a time we kind of looked into the toy hauler side of a trailer. Mostly for the race car I had at that time. But it would have also had to have been th permanent garage for the car. I figured after it sat in there all the time when we wanted to sleep in it, phew it would be stinky from old tire smell, oil etc. That wouldn't be the problem with this though. The toy haulers we looked at were more on the line of BJ66 style. A cargo trailer that had flip up bed and couch in them. Guess I should check into the brakes for weight rules. My thoughts are the trailers are sold all over the US and I would think they would have to meet a DOT rule. Thanks for the pointers on how to tie the bike down. I was thinking about some kind of wrap strap to keep the hooks away.

I think its just a looks thing. As far as bulbs go I like my halogens (35w) vs the sealed beam jobs. but the cats meow seems to be the LED, but they aint cheap. There are a few different lens styles I guess you would call them. Tri-bar, diamond cut, seems there is another tri-bar type with something added to it.

Difference between carb syncing of a 1st Gen and a 2nd Gen ?
djh3 replied to KIC's topic in Watering Hole
Once I set mine its been good. It was of a tad first time I sync'd. Checked probably 2 times thru the year last year and it looked good, so I left it alone. -
Happy Birthday man. Thanks for the help you have given over the short time I have known you. Hope you all get some riding weather soon.

Yea the resale is part of my dilemma. I have found a tandem 16 or 20 footer for about the same price range used. But from the pics it will defiantly need some floor work. Plus it will sit a lot and to change tires out is twice as much as on the single axle job. I don't really need the weight carrying ability but selling it used it would help. Is there anyplace to look and see a write up or diagram on how to tie one down. I am probably going to have to put floor fittings in. I would guess of the rear crash bars by the bags, but what off the front? And do you wrap the strap around something up front or go to the forks and what does the strap hook to on the bike end? Do you run the front straps to the front and the rers pulling back, or run both sets towards the center of the bike?

Some of it depends on the bike your riding I think. 1st gen, 2nd gen or Tour Deluxe. Then the windshield height. My 2nd gen with the oem is OK most of the time with a shorty and just my eye glasses. but when you get into heavy air disturbing traffic like interstate with big truck it swirls the air and can move the dirt etc around. I have a Bell Mag 8. Its a 3/4 with a flip up face shield Most of the time I have the visor up enjoying the breeze. It is nice when the weather get rainy I have a shield to put down. Other than that My wrap around prescription costa sunglasses do the trick.

Rick I may have an option for you. I make aplug and play ignition by-pass kit that I also have an oprion to make it keyless. My thought is you could possibly put a generic automotive type switch in say on the left behind the seat where some folks put an aux power plug. I was just looking the other day for another fellow and I think they run like 12 bucks. my by-pass keyless kit is 30 shipped in US. If interested drop me an pm.

So is that like 12 from the front of the V and the box is essentially 10'? I don't know if I'll end up with a V nose or not. Still looking. So the 48" is that from the front of the interior I presume? You say basically the bike is centered over the axle. I'll have to also see if I can get some tips on tying down the beast also. I have a wheel chock a friend gave me years back. I would like to figure out how to mount to floor without having to crawl under and hold nuts all the time too. I have an idea on that.

Jerry, have you heard the fan run? To start with the easy stuff first. Just go start the bike and let it idle. Depending on your outside temp at the time within oh I say 5 min or so the fan should kick on. I suppose If you suspect the fan to be inoperative check the fuses first. You could hook a jumper up to the fan connection and just run straight 12v and make sure it runs. It should be just 2 pins a hot and ground. which ever way you want to check things first. I'm for easy. Crank up and let run. If fan comes on in reasonable time, your good. Now if its like 20deg out its going to take longer I suppose.

A couple things at play here are. The trailer like most will sit the majority of the time. So if/when it is time to buy tires its twice as many. Plus here they tag the trailer based on weight. So the heavier the trailer the more you pay the govt. I have had to balance the load out in my single axle before. Took some time figuring out where the car had to be in it to make it pull right. I would prefer the tandem, but the added expense is probably out weighed. Of course it will depend in availability and cost. Penz on what's available when I decide to pull the trigger.

No mute on the 2nd gen. It does have the volume increase thing as you accelerate it get louder to a point. But the no display. Do you recall what the connector for the handlebar control looks like? Maybe a small version of the connection for the helmet? If so I may have something to try to take that out of the picture. Just for grins try with the key in accessory instead of on. I guess a good wiring diagram guy is going to have to get into the schematics to see where and how much voltage there is supposed to be. I'll see if maybe I can figure something out, but wiring is not a strong point.

I have had a tandum axle 18 ft I guess utility trailer I used for a full sized race car. I used heck out of it. Even after I sold race car and moved to Fla it got used by myself and alot of friends. I finnaly sold it about a year ago. I have also had a 6x 14 single axle I used for a legend car and sold all of that stuff last year. That trailer pulled fine as long as something with wheelbase was used to pull. Orginaly I had a short wheelbase dodge 1/2 ton. That could get funky feeling at times. I think primary tow vehicle for trailer would be the wifes 02 durango. If I need to use my truck its 3/4 ton dodge with diesel. No lack in power.. The 14' I had also had brakes on it sotat helped.

I am looking at buying a enclosed cargo type trailer, mainly for the wifes work. She needs a storage and transport trailer that is dry and big enough to haul banners, papers supplies and signs and things. she works for a non-profit org so they are not going to buy it. But it would really make her job easier for the event she has to put on. So I figure if I'm paying for it I might as well make sure the bike will fit in it. That way if we decided to we could haul the bike somewhere for vaction or something. Or if one of my buddies with a HD brakes down. Anyways best I can measure out minimum would be about a 6x10 and a 6x12 would be just a tick longer. What size do you folks have to haul your RSV if you have one?

The bulb part of comes out of the rubber bucket. Yea I see they are not the brightest things. But they are not $70-80 a piece either.

I didn't even remember who this guy was the other night when they said he croaked on the news. I was like "big deal" some anti patriotic JA that some of us defended his rights is gone. boo hoo.....ray

It just struck me. Some time back somebody was having radio issue and found something bad under the pillon seat. Back on the way to the CB parts of the radio stuff. Before you ship stuff off I would hate to see someone check it out and it be OK and your in the same boat.

Hey was looking around Northern Tools site. The LED passing lights that seem to work as a replacement are on sale for $20 ea. I'm still on the fence about these units as I have not heard anyone say how bright they are at night or anything. I know they seem to show decent in the daytime to oncoming traffic.

I like the K&N because you buy them once. I agree on the pricing. It looks a scary if you look @ full retail. But there are enough outlets to buy now a days that nobody should pay full retail. I also did not pay much more than what I could find the OEM's even on e-bay. I have looked into the "reusable" cleanable oil filters also. Just not convinced that is the best way to go there. The cleaning surface are just does not look like its as much as the longer Purolator I use.

After living in tornado alley for 20yr in a mobile home, I figure I must have used up my allotment of luck. We did spend some time in the fraidy hole though. If you live in an area where you deem it a good investment its up to you. Dragonslayer is right though them things can come up just about anywhere, as was evident here in Fla last year.

New to me bike. I thinnk the radio is toast
djh3 replied to muaymendez1's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
I gather there is no display in the hand controller. If you take it out of the system, how you going to make it turn on, volume up etc? -
RSTD vs 2nd Generation
djh3 replied to bwk's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Knowing what I do now radio and comm wise I would probably look into just blue tooth between the wife and I. That way it probably is a bit clearer and your phone could be connected also if you wanted and could have radio/mp3 player. So the cruise is the big factor. I don't know if the TD had electronic cruise. I have the same kind of issues with the Victory if I changed rides. To get electronic cruise on the cross roads its like $1200 and headsets would run me probably $180-200 for decent ones. Plus would have to add on the windshield. I think the Cross Country with the fairing is only like $1500-2000 more than the CR. I'm terribly spoiled with the cruise now. -
Yup dead.
