  1. While your in the part ordering mood, you might want to look at a speed bleeder for that. Part #SB8125 I just go some off e-bay. They run about $7 a piece, but supposedly make it way easier to bleed.
  2. Sounds like slave maybe leaking. Unless maybe you were bleeding it didnt get it closed or its residual from bleeding.
  3. My guess on this would be the 600cc sport bikes are the ones these guys do all this stunting crap on. They crash them and need bodywork for them and we know how expensive the plastic work is. Plus if they steal a bike and crash it, no biggie it didnt cost them much probably. And they dont register them for these stunt shows so.....
  4. I use some anti-seize on them also. Who knows you may want to get them off sometime.
  5. WARNING WARNING Make sure to cover up the gas tank and the lowers anything that might get brake fluid on it. Also dont cycle the clutch lever thru with the cover off. As you release it it will sort of spray fluid up in the air with the greatest of ease and where it goes you can only guess. I have an old syringe I use to remove the old fluid. Then I use a paper shop towel to soak up the rest of the old fluid. I spray a bit of brake clean in the reservoir and you'll see 2 little holes in the bottom. then dab out the brake clean. Fill reservoir with fluid and open the bleeder without pulling clutch handle. Watch the level it will flow on its own for the most part. Close the bleeder, and refill resevoir. Install cap and bleed thru with pressure a few times. Refill and you should see nothing but clear fluid. I find that if I use my "leveling" board that I use for checking oil level under the kickstand and then rotate the handlebars to the right it levels out the reservoir.
  6. I just bought speed bleeders off e-bay. About $7 each seem s to be the going rate and $5 for shipping. I ordered all 4 from same supplier, so only one shipping cost. You need 2ea SB7100S For front 1ea SB8125L for rear and 1ea SB8125 for clutch. I have been told the trick for the clutch bleeder swap is to remove the faux fin there by the clutch bleeder.
  7. Thanks Steve I did have that happen on my Vulcan. I was working on the front with installing a fairing. When I got ready to check things out it did similar thing. I guess the OEM bulbs dont have very tuff filaments in them.
  8. These look like the replacements Alpine SPS 410. Measurements are pretty close to the discontinued Alpine SPS 400
  9. I mounted a reckless on my 900 Vulcan. I mounted my own radio rig in it. Looking back I think if I was going to have a radio in it I would just go with their rig that mounted up. About 3 months after I fabricated brackets and figured everything out, Memphis shades came out with a bat wing fairing. they have quality stuff and I had very good service from them also on a windshield I had bought.
  10. Look for a bad ground or pinched wires.
  11. Or stop by your local autozone. They have loan a tool program you can borrow a tool for a couple hours or a day.
  12. To get by you can use hose clamps like on a heater hose. Then source out your "real" exhaust clamps. Most go for ones supplied thru V-twin manufacturing. Search around here youll find the info for the swap. Try this link.
  13. I was watching an episode of Top Gear (the british one) and caught some info on why there have been several 3 wheel cars over there. It seems they are taxed by their autos. And as this is classified as a "cycle" therefore less tax. Now I'm sure there is some way our government can foul this up for us rite? Impose some sort of "luxury tax" or something for non-car vehicles. The more we work to get away from using fuel the more it goes up. Funny how that works. Seems to me right after GM started making the 350 converted diesels and put them in pick ups and passenger cars diesel fuel went sky high compared to what it had been.
  14. Lucky for us Floridians most of us dont have to worry about many toll roads. Well unless you live in Miami. A couple in Orlando and Tampa area. So I know when I'm going to be on one and its pretty easy to put it in my hi-vis vest pocket and it will hit from there. Now up in the Chicago area where every five miles is another toll both is a different situation.
  15. There is "weird science" that goes on there. First the LED only knows to be "on" so you have to limit the amount of voltage going to it. Then you have to put a diode in to keep it from feeding power from one side to the other and making all the lights flash say if you signal for a left turn. I forget all the particulars rite now but I do remember researching it and having to solder up the circuits.
  16. KARABOO, I have read about a fellow rider that had flags mounted where you do. Imagine his surprise when he was cleaning and he found the flags had essentially sanded his trunk paint off.
  17. When he said it bolts up to the clutch resevoir I thought it was one of these dual use types. they come with a rubber bushing sort of thing if you use the U clamp instead of bolting it to the clutch housing. http://www.rammount.com/Gallery/images/RAM-B-309-1U/RAM-B-309-1U.jpg By the way the alwrmcusn- I have oogled your expensive sun screen for the GPS before. Tell me is it mounted with the 2 screws on the back that also mount the GPS holder to the arm?
  18. Looks kind of like the bagger shield thing. $168 I think you can get a whole new shield.
  19. Yea my son thinks one of these is going to solve his problem with the miles he has to drive for work. He travel all day seeing patients at their homes. So a couple hundred miles a day sometimes. His company wont let him drive a motorcycle, so for now this would be out anyways as it is classified as a "cycle"
  20. Hey no worries man. WE all sort of learn here together. See I wouldnt have thought it would make no difference if you charge on say 8 amp or the 2 amp trickle charge. But hey guess it does. Are you running a AGM battery (it would be sealed) or does it have caps you can take off.
  21. Billy, I think I connected to the wiring from the turn signal. In order to make it a run/turn signal you need to have resistors and a diode gizmo soldered up. I think I know someone that might make them for you if you wanted to try to do that.
  22. Dont want to overwhelm you with things or make you scared of your purchase. There are some things I would call "fine tuning" or improvements. All things fellow have discovered while owning these bikes that just makes them all that much more reliable. I can suggest some things, but everything is subjective. To me it might be important, but someone else may feel another mod is more important. You being new to the bike reading all this stuff may think "holy crap what kind of POS did I buy" When you look at things I would say kind of brake it down into sections, something like Safety-Mechanical keep me from fixing on side of road-Mechanical makes drive better-Nice to have and looks good. I'll stop now just a suggestion. Welcome and dont be afraid to ask questions. Try to search for your questions first time around as most likely someone has asked something similar.
  23. AFT= reward, rear end of a ship or aircraft The port and starboard thing messes me up, but a Navy friend explained that to me as Port has 4 letters and so does left so now I'm good to go.
  24. Barry let me check and see what the other half has planed for me Sat. I may run up Steves way and bring the relay and stuff. If Steve dont think that would be a problem to put it on also.
  25. June 14th rite?
