I got tired of trying to run power wires under the positive cable. I saw a write up on a Kawasaki site and I think one here where the fellow added an aux fuse block. I found one I think its 6 position so I have places to add circuits for say lights, accessories without adding wires under the positive on the battery and having wires willy nilly.

your top hole on your multimeter is to check amperage thru a line. NOT to exceed 10 amps it what it looks like. So if you were to check how much amp it takes to run say a tail light. You Connect the meter inline and it tells how much to run whatever circuit you are connected in. Like Jeff said, dont worry about it now. but I would for simplicity disconnect the new headlight and put the OEM type in. Just makes things easier to troubleshoot. -
Is there a how to for Igniton Switch Relay?

I know this is an "old" thread. But I have a plug and ply unit for sale in 2nd Gen parts. -
If you know where your staying either look up on web or call and see if they have a hand steamer. If not I have used the bathroom trick a couple of times with a Tux.

You said something about having a digital volt meter. Mine you set to volts then there is a button on the face you push to cycle thru weather you want DC, AC . For OHMS it has 2 settings, one you can read what resistance and the other you can set a tone to go off when you have continuity so if your stuck looking say down into something to get the probl on it you hear beep its OK. -
MA61AMech makes harness to connect trailers and extra lights etc. He can set you up with a harness and connector. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=35

Do you think the HD dealer would allow me much on 2 Ventures
djh3 replied to YamaDuck's topic in Watering Hole
When I first got the RSV it was still under warranty. Closest dealer is over 40 miles away, so I knew I was going to do my own oil changes etc. I did the same on my Vulcan. I buy the oil, scan the receipt into a file folder. When I change oil I take a pic of the dash with my phone camera (its usually handy close by) and turn date on and take pic of dash with milage. that way its recorded. -
Old age possibly? Not sayin weather its the bike or operator though.

Look here or give them a call. -
I built one for the RSV. But for mu Vulcan I did much as Steve has said. I used some 2x4 cut down to make contact with frame. It will probably get you buy, but you need to look for a little more stable solution if your going to do tire changes etc.

OK Eddie Was sort of a last minute cancel. As it turned out over here in middle of state was pretty awful thru most of the day. And it looked like storms brewed up after about 3pm.

Lots of factors could play into this deal. A bit to much speed entering corner, then brakes, then the un-braking load of trailer pushing the rear of the bike up which unloaded the suspension (making it loose). To which you now have to compensate by counter steering and widening the corner........... I have run into a few corners on this bike either solo or with the wife that I have "overshot" and had to widen out. I blame myself and try not to make the same mistake again. It aint the bikes fault I'm going that speed.

Somewhere in the middle. But no choice for that. LOL I picked comfortable. Always a helmet, sometimes a half, long trips my 3/4. I have a textile mesh jacket I will wear up to about 90 or so, then it just seems to hot if mulling around town. I do try to wear a hi-vis vest as much as I can. Unless its a trip to the corner store (about a mile on neighborhood streets) it long britches and real shoes. Never flip flops.

It kind of sounds like you have a good indication of the trouble. The battery. It gave you trouble in one bike and you moved it over and now the trouble is there intermittently. those intermittent things are a pain to troubleshoot, believe me. Yes a battery can test "good" and then actually be bad. If they get say a cracked plate inside, if it makes contact when you test it it checks good then you ride and it shuffles around and now not so good of contact and it shorts out. As for the voltage the like mid to late 70's GM cars with HEI needed like 11.5 volts to give a "hot" spark, under that they would run but under stress they would misfire, under about 11v they might not even run. I have read the electrical system on the bike are minimum on the charging side. If everything is working its fine, but start to add some extras and now its at its limit. I wouldnt think the carb heaters are running as the temps are high pretty much everywhere and dont need to run. but them bugger take like 30amp or something when they kick on, even though its momentary. I have no idea what the engine control module needs just to produce a good spark on these but I will reckon its upwards of 11.5 or more volts. -
Here is a route Roadrunner mag did last year from Detroit to I think Buffalo.

I think I could put a hurtin on it for sure. But my luck would be I would get beat out by an IB guy and then just have "new" Vic with a ton of miles on it. Makes me wonder just how many miles would a guy be looking at having to put on his bike to "win" I took 400 miles a day times 30 days as I dont remember how long the contest is. But heck thats over 12K and I bet some will be over that. So a years worth of miles in say a month and then not win. Ouch

After checking a couple of weather sites the weather looks as though it deteriorates in the afternoon with possible strong storms and wind. I hate to see anyone get caught out in one of these. So maybe we are best to put this off to another date.
-
OK Midnightrider here is something else that will just make you fry. How about a FREE Victory???? I just got an e-mail from them that is a challenge of sorts. If you buy a new Vic between certain dates in June and by the end of july you have the most verified mileage you get the bike free. Well I would almost be up for this except a couple of issues with work. But some Ib joker would by a new one and ride it from Calif to Alaska over threw Canada and down to Fl or something stupid like that.

Big storm just now blowing in here in central Fla straight across from Sarasota. Its about 8:40. I want to ride but this weather is dicey the last few days. Below are the forecasts for your selected cities and times. Forecasts are based on the time of day you selected. I have a Tourmaster fully mesh jacket. I think its an Air model not sure. but I have had it since 07 when I bought the Vulcan. It has a couple of liners you can zip in that I think must have been available at one time, but finding one now has been a challenge. I have an old military liner for a jacket that works well for winter. I also have a Fieldsheer jacket that is textile and has a quilted liner. This thing is definitely a winter type jacket as it is a solid textile. Although it has vent sippers I have yet to really get any air moving thru it to stay cool in our summers. I will agree sometimes its hard to get the pads to stay where you would like them but most have cinches on the sleeves or what have you to position. Textiles are nice as you can toss in the washer also.

Maybe we can do a "Southeastern" meet and eat. Somewhere like valdosta or something on a long weekend.
