  1. There ya go. Why are you carrying the brake fluid? If its a just in case thing, I would rethink my strategy. Parts stores are everywhere. Or you need to put it in a freezer bag, and then inside like a piece of tupperware or something. How big a hole you got in the bag now?
  2. Kind of like this?
  3. Saddlebum, dont necessarily have to be your e-mail that got hijacked. Could be an e-mail of a friend and they got into their address book and got your addy from there.
  4. Well if it was last year some homeless guy has a nice collection.
  5. Basicly it is a car engine aint it? With all the plastic add on cowls etc alot of the bike like that hold heat terrible. Its got no place to go when sitting still.
  6. They dont look to come off easy to me. And I would say I'm a pretty fair mechanic. I am however NOT a carburetor guy. Run a couple more tanks of seafoam mixture thur if you think you can safely and see what you think. The carbs a buried up under and between the cylinders.
  7. SO you are able to run the GPS and play pandora at the same time?. Depending on what kind og holder you have for your phone here is wat a member here suggested to me for my Garmin. You take a 3x5 index card plastic box from office supply store. About $3 and cut the top off. then take the bottom and trim it so it will fit around your device and attach it to the mount like RAM mounts on the back side.
  8. I put a pair of commander 2 on over 17k ago. I just took the rear off. It could prob go another 2-3k but summer rains are upon our area.. I put a Shinko on the rear to try out. So far so good but it aint been on very long.

Oh my. You drink the kool aid?
  10. What ratio on the aeafoam have you run? Typical "normal" is one oz to a gallon. Try a double and drive some. When you get some of the new mix in carbs as ir sits some it should help disolve some of the gum. Fuel filter would be good to change soon as if you run the seafoam thru to filter it will loosen the crap in there also. Filter is kind of a pia to get at but read up on it.
  11. I am very happy with a FREE program called TYRE. Trace your route everywhere. Much simpler to use than the basecamp or mapsource thing. Give it a try, what have you got to loose?
  12. Well I cant say for sure on these machines, I can tell you my experience with cars. @ identical vehicles may show different ranges on a gauge. It can be the dash gauge or it could be the range the sensor reads and puts out. I higher pull cfm fan may help and I think most of that is either the number of blades on the fan or the curvature of them to make it pull. Only way you are going to know completely what temp it is running at is put a numerical reading gauge on it. I guess you could use one of those shot it heat sensor guns. Is the coolant new? or how old is it? Is thermostat opening all the way or partially restricted?
  13. Several years back the wife and I were in Gatlinburg Tn. We had come up from Cherokee and about half way it commenced to raining cats and dogs. We put rain gear on but stif were pretty wet. We got to Gatlinburg and looked for a place to get something hot to eat and dry out. The streets had so much water on them it was over the tops of my 10" boots and the bottoms of the mufflers I think. Thats when we found out there is no parking close to anything on main street in Gatlinburg. The streets looked like you could have had canoe races they had so much water running.
  14. Safe travels, good weather no breakdowns. Hopefully the only thing that may give you a little disadvantage will be the fuel range.
  15. Didnt look like that big of a deal a couple days ago. Not a real strong job. But last night when I saw the news they said this thing had really spread out wide. So could be lots of rain, but it dont look like a bad storm. But you cant always be sure.
  16. SO if this pump works 0-60 psi its fine for the rear also to me. As the max on the rear is only 57 PSI
  17. For the most part, I believe the linkage is sealed and has rubber boots on the links. I suppose you could give it a shot of spray white grease or WD40 type oil. One thing to watch from what I have been told is the pivot bolt for the shifter itself. I understand they have walked out on some.
  18. Theory of running the rear on the front from what I have read is. You run the arrow in the opposite direction because the way the belts are laid up when you corner then it loads the belts as if on the rear, also stopping. They are wound to "push" for rear tire and on the front you have to turn the tire around to get same results. At least thats how I have read it.
  19. Well being its posted in the Tour Deluxe side of the house I'm hoping he has one. For an RSV none. LOL On a bike with the windshield like they have you get a bit more wind and rai protection. Although I will say my Memphis Shades Phatt had very good coverage. Plus depending on which fairing you can get radio and some storage. Knowing what info I have now about intercom and radio on bike I would consider going back to the windshield, like on a Tour Deluxe of a Victory Cross Roads. Cruise is a must have.
  20. Look like handy units. I keep our rain suits in the left side. Weel with the CD player in there things are tight, especially on trips with wife. I figured out I could roll one of the jackets up and stuff in the lid. then I used some of the really small 1/4" bungee cords and made an X from the screws for the lock and hinge. It holds the jacket great.
  21. I had a reckless fairing on my 900 Kawasaki. Back when I did it no one had a bat wing for the 900 Vulcan. 4 months after I made the brackets and everything Memphis Shades came out with a bolt on kit. LOL go figure. Since then I have read a few posts on guys puting fairings on the TD, and they look good. I think the reckless for my money was a good buy at the time. Part of your process needs to be do you want just a fairing to block wind? Or do you want to also have tunes? Do you want to try to mount up your own stereo stuff or let them do it? I can tell you I put 3 what I would call "extreeme" type radios in it, and ended up with a little credit card sized unit that finally worked. First radio was a marine type Pyle cd with remote control. It jounced some little gizmo loose off the circuit board. I had to remove some of the heat sink off to get it to fit in the fairing, so no warrenty as I had modified it. Second radio was sony I think and was designated ATV use on box. It lasted about 150 miles. It went back to place I bought it. The little credit card job had aux input and out put for head phones and was about $25 off e-bay. I had 4.5" speakers in the fairing and above about 45-50 you couldnt hardly hear it, so I ran earbuds on road trips and still do on the RSV. Several nice ones out there just sort of penz on what you budget. Mutazu Tsukayu is another that seem to make nice stuff. I think your probably money ahead if you just have them install a radio. Heres the reckless link.
  22. Yea I dont know what it does Sam. I just read something about a link for the caliper.
  23. MAX OH my it looked like Herbie got whacked in the rear and thats whats left. Similar stuff over by Daytona, only I think they are conventional 3 wheeler scooter things. 1 wheel in front, but small. People clog the streets with them things in season.

Thanks man you too. Few people understand the plight of the VA. Its one of the first places congress and senate look at cutting$$. I dont think they have had a restructuring and reorganization in better than 15yr. So the management practices are way out of sync. I dont have a big enough degree to "fix" it but I would gladly sit on a committee to help look at some fixes and ideas. Over all I would have to say they do me well. But compared to most that use the facility where I go I'm a whipper snapper. I bet most of my fellow Vets are WW2, Korea and now Vietnam era guys
  25. If its more than the $6800 that ELIO is going to sell for I dont think it will fly.
