Has anybody tried a Shinko 777 either front or rear or both?
djh3 replied to syscrusher's topic in Watering Hole
The tourmaster 230 get decent reviews over on the HD sites I have looked at for info. While not the milage we typically see from the MC2, E-3 and Avons they say its good. If I remember rite its around 8K. The load rating is higher than any of the before mentioned tires also. I have one mounted up on the back of my 09 RSV and will be interested in seeing what kind of milage I get. -
1st gen I am guessing.

sometimes people see way to much picker shows and stuff
djh3 replied to oldgoat's topic in Watering Hole
I agree. These picker type shows along with Barret Jackson type stuff have killed any deals anymore. Everybody that has a rusty old hulk prices it like it a family member becaus he saw one sell on tv for x amount. Crazy -

Actually a fellow has one for sale off a TD I believe. Here is the link. Contact him thru it and if you cant let me know by PM and I'll get him in contact with you. I had mounted a Reckless on my 900 Kawasaki and thought it was a good product for the price. -

Maybe some 2 part epoxy and you can shape it. -
I dunno about that. I aint got no recalls on my 96 or 02 Dodges. Newest thing in my garage is the 09 Venture. LOL My bro-inlaw is a GM man, and boy has he got the grief from me the last few months. He has a really nice G8 Pontiac and so far its not on the list of burn to the ground stuff. I keep asking about his avalanche and he says no. but I saw where 1/2 ton PU were on a list, so I dont know how it would miss. sorry first time I have seen it.

See nows your an expert. Well sort of.

I certainly would think greasing the shaft is not going to hurt anything. You can kind of check how much play in the splines by dropping it in gear and when you get the diff off the back see how much twist you can get out of the shaft.

A friend of mine sent this to me. For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on. At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated "If Ford had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon." In response to Bill's comments, Ford issued a press release stating: If Ford had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics (and I just love this part): 1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash.........twice a day. 2.. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car. 3... Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this. 4.... Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine. 5..... Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive - but would run on only five percent of the roads. 6...... The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single "This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation" warning light. I love the next one!!! 7....... The airbag system would ask, "Are you sure?" before deploying. 8........ Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna. 9......... Every time a new car was introduced, car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car. 10.......... You'd have to press the "Start" button to turn the engine off. PS - I'd like to add that when all else fails, you could call "customer service" in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself!!!!

In that case the cards work well. From what I have been told the cards work good for Canada, Mexico, bahamas and the like.

OH yea call your cell company and find out about your coverage also. Most times you can get it set up for "international" so it will work up there. If you dont set something up with them ahead of time and you need to use it, the cost is crazy $$$$$ I had mine turned on there with Sprint for like an extra $10 just incase.

LED is the hot ticket. Good light and low amp draw. Most have the yamaha light bars with the 4.5" passing lights. I have seen smaller LED mounted on forks by calipers, off the fenders, down by the foot crash bars sort of all over. If you go halogen make sure they are no more than 35w as they will draw to much power more than likely

Monty I sure hope you are staying on our side of the falls. No passport no re entry to US. And the backlog on these things is tremendous now that you have to have one to even go on a cruise.

Last year a couple of my buddies and I made the trip across. We crossed in upper Ny by Syracuse. About 40 mi wait. Came back thru buffalo and it might have took us 30-40 min of creeping in line. Had way way less questions trying to get back in US than go over to visit. I just used the credit card for everything. Some US cash at a DQ and burger joint no worries.

Actually the MC2 front in the 190 size is rated higher than the manual calls for. Manual calls for a 71h front and the MC2 is a 73, weight wise thats 761# to 805# and both rears are at 827#. the Shinko tourmaster is an 80v rated tire 992#.

Once in a while I will hit it just right and it seems to have quite a bit of slack. I really think its more backlash in the ring gear than u-joint. the driveshaft would also give you the same thing on deceleration also with a "bang or clunk"

I had a small cargo trailer without ramps for a small (1200#) race car. I bought a pair of the metal ramps from harbor freight. They were not long wnough so I added 2x8 bolted together with big fender washers. you would have to check weight rating on the ramps. now I did have a flat cargo trailer simular to your without the flip down ramps, so yours having the ramps makes it easier actually. I went to the county road and bridge dept. They had torn som old wodden bridges out and had some boards from the road part of the wooden bridge. Maybe 3"x12" all cresoted and heavy !!!! But I loaded everything from 3000# stock car to tractors with a disc on those and never had a problem. Lots of fellows also used what we called PSP. It is the flat metal they use for portable runways. http://calumetindustries.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/06/_1-psp-mats-001.jpg

I guess I should have actually said if after the normal type bleeding, that is open valve, push pedal down, close and repeat a couple times watching for bubbles. If you then still have a sponge pedal try the pump up and bleed a couple times. It should help force air the the bleeder. I would say normally you only need to open bleeder and push pedal. what I normally do every couple years as it only took once to have a brake issue in the mountains, is change the brake fluid every couple years. I use a syringe and suck old fluid out, but leave some in the intake hole in reservoir so as to not get air in. fill reservoir and proceed to bleed watching the level. Once its clear fluid in the bleed hose your good.

I watch for the crown in the center. You know, where all the pavement is pushed towards the center of the lane. I try to never be in the center, it higher and too much crap (oil, anti-freeze, water from AC) Mostly I try to slow up coming up to the stop so I can sort of coast. I think I use the rear a bit more as I dont feel the fronts have the grip power my 90 vulcan had so I'm cautious.

50 States Ranked for Highest Motorcycle Ownership: You Won't Guess Who's No. 1
djh3 replied to Eck's topic in Watering Hole
So I wounder if this includes off road machines also, or just "road registered". But it was taken off a population type survey. So South Dakota has whatever 20K folks living there and 6k ride. Calif has a million peeps and 80k ride percentage wise its less people. Still pretty cool that those states that have winter beat out us that have summer most of the year. -

Neil-I presume your talking fuel pump rite? -
No 150/80 or whatever the OEM size is. They have a 130/90 which is a tick taller and narrower. Some say it makes a bit quicker steering @ slower speeds. I dont notice it.

I have had them on min e for over 17K. I like the rain traction better than the E-3. the E-3 would lock up in a NY second. No tread in center of tire to dissipate water was my recollection. I will tell you I had my fair share of rear lock ups in the wet, but was usually shortly after a rain storm started. As for cornering I have not noticed it being slippery or anything like that. I did just replace the rear with a Shinko as the rear was getting down @ 17,500 miles. Front still looking good. Your pressure is down from what was recommended to me by Michelin. they told me 40 front and rear one up or solo touring normal gear. And max press 2 up and gear.

I think I would go for that Elio thing or whatever they call it. Its supposed to be $6400 bucks, and it has a roof.
