I will say I just skipped replacing the points and installed a new Mr Gasket pump. We all know the points on these things fail, and it seldom seems to be at a time when you can fix it easily. So I just cut to the chase and replaced the pump once and wont have to worry about one failing. Replacing the points certainly is a good option for those who want to go that route. At least that option is there, unlike the rear shock delma of only certain suppliers.

I have several gauges. LOL some dial some digital, even some of the pencil ones. My 3 digital ones are wit in about a 1/2lb of each other. The dial type one is a race gauge and for me the most accurate as has been set by a tire manufacturer although quite some time ago. If I can get it on the subject I will compare the digital to it. Surprisingly I have a small compact dial gauge I had to buy one time out of town and then thing reads almost exactly what the race gauge does around 30-40lb.

I replaced my 2nd gen pump with the Mr Gasket one. About $50 pump fittings and all. A first gen may be a bit different on fittings. but then you dont have to worry about points going out again.

Use the intercom. Or I wired up a splitter of sorts and wired in a 3.5mm ear bud jack. I wear the earbuds with my helmets and it helps clear up the intercom and the radio. If a person so wanted to ride with out a lid you could still plug in the earbuds and hear radio without so much volume it distorts.

I think what spiked it and made it noticeable was the fact it is now going to trial or something. anyways they are looking for the guy and cant seem to find him.
-
What I just read this was way back in Feb. Says they are looking for the guy but he has moved from the area. oot, he probably just moved a couple counties over and the police wont spend the money to look for criminals unless its capitol offence. Was a news story on this a month or so, convicts out awaiting sentence and skip to another state. Its bad on some of these trucks. Loads unsecured, mud flaps about to become projectiles.

my 96 rs rides to rough for my bad back
djh3 replied to worm's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Maybe try a back brace or kidney belt to help you sit straighter and some back support. Are you running any air pressure in the shock? Go with maybe a little less or close to minimums. short of that change the rear shock out to a Hagon, but I can tell you the one they make for the RSV I put in felt stiffer than my OEM. So I dont know what you can do. As was mentioned if you go soft you get ill handling effects of bobbing and in corners that bad. -
Well that sounds neat, I wounder if it bobbing around on the handlebars would set it off.

Mine depends on....... If I am using for music its in a RAM mount. If not sometimes in my holster with velcro flap, or could be in trunk. you know maybe I'll forward this thread over on the Delphi forums. A fellow was just asking about using the suction cup mount for his GPS to the speedo face on his TD.

I just went thru 3 weeks of having a bike here at my house that did the same thing. Bad part was it was very intermittent. I went up to his house and thought I had it fixed. 3 weeks later he calls and says it wont start. Then a day or so later he said it starts. Long story, he brought it down and I kept the bike for 3 weeks. I did everything from the very simple, remove ground wires and clean and battery connections to OHM out the clutch switch and starter relay etc. Start with the easy stuff. Clean both the battery connections at the battery and also the ground on the motor. Clean the connections on the starter relay and check the main fuse while your in that area.

I was rushing like mad to catch an airplane a couple years back in Atlanta airport. when I got to the jetway I reached down to call the wife and let her know I made the airplane. I did, but the phone not so much. I called airport, e-mailed lost and found all kinds off stuff. Pilot deadheading let me borrow his phone to call her I made it but phone didn't and to call cell provider and tell them it was MIA. GEZ if you need a smart phone to get you by and its Sprint I got one I'll pass on to ya.

One of their "rules" is you have to ride a liter or bigger american made bike. So that pretty well cuts down the options.
-
That would be my guess. however the high beam light at night bothers me more. Always has on vehicles.
-
Yes I believe you need a thin wall socket. I dont think I can get a standard socket on mine either. Its been a while since I changed plugs so memory is a bit foggy.

Be advised: Biketoberfest is October 15, 2015 - October 19, 2015. We are leaving somewhere around the 10th or 11th to go up to North Carolina. Date not set in stone yet.

Well ran over something last week and punctured the 1400 mile new tire. About a 3/4" cut. Dont feel safe patching it so have new one on order. Shoulbe up and running in a week.

You are correct on the wire tie thing though. If you can keep from bending them over to tie up, try to loop back and forth but put the tie in the middle more not on the ends to flatten them out.

Yea I guess the man upstairs is still looking out for me. I just ordered up a new rear and a front. Original plan when I put the rear on was to finish up this year on the front and change next year. But being as the rear picked up 2 screws I figured I better inspect the front. Its not down to the wear bars yeat, but not terribly far either. like maybe a 32nd or so. Have a trip to mountains planned with the wife in Oct and I dont want to have to change a day or two before we leave and I dont think it would be up to par at the time of trip. So I guess here again better to error on caution side. Ordered up 2 Shinko Tourmaster 230's. Thats what I had just put on the rear 1400 miles ago. I in no way think it was a tire fault it got a 3/4" cut. No matter what tire it would have been a goner, only more expensive to replace. So now I wait on parts.
-
Well took tire apart today. not only did I have the hole I knew about there was a drywall screw about 8 inch from that hole. Patched them both. got tire inflated and the original hole is sliced in fct about 3/4" but couldn't really tell until I pulled the plug out, fixed and inflated. And its dang near dead center. So every time our on the gas its going to try to rip the split even more it looks like. So..... So much for that brand new tire with 1475 miles on it. If it would have been a $160 Michelin I would be really torqued. Pitiful I have to junk a brand new tire. If I would have just left the plug in I woulndt have even known.

Yea I was going to say something like that. There are times when thats all that may work, and there is a place and time for certain things. I hate with a passion scotch locks. But sometimes thats what you have to use to get up and going and come back and fix it by soldering or at least a posi tap.

I just put a Hagon on Retredgolfers scoot a few weeks back. See how he likes it. They get the info from you about weights, riding preference etc and build it up custom. Just make sure they have the correct shipping address. LOL Eddies went back and forth across the county 2 or 3 times looking for my house.

Ventourous Randy-not sure but I think last year when we were up that way that parts was infact closed for repairs as the rains and weather had washed out a pretty big section. Not sure but I think thats where it was.
