  1. Sounds kind of like my "new tire" question I threw out to some folks the other day. In a short answer, if you had to get it going for say a few months (say end of this riding season) I would say go for it. But as Jeff said I dont think I would trust it indefinitely as a permanent fix.

    Hi-Vis Helmets

Yup have seen the decals before. I have thought about those, just have not found the right style for me yet. Not in to skulls/daggers and the tribal thing has been over done. So just not found anything. Like I said in OP mine was sort of scratched up so I didnt think I had anything but $10 or whatever I got in paint. I like it. If I rie of in in a few months, it peels off like a bad sunburn. Have seen you tubes where guys have painted wheels on bikes and cars with the stuff because they dont want to spend the big bucks for powdercoating. So its an option hen the wheels get dinged up.
  3. So maybe they meant half a 1955 vette engine.
  4. Was looking around at helmets a month or so ago. I like my shorty for the summer months down here in Fla. but how come no one makes a Hi-Vis shorty? Do they figure because someone goes with minimal coverage they don't care about safety? So my son has been experimenting with this plasti-dip paint stuff. You can pain something and if you dont like it peel it of and start over. Well my Scorpion shorty is the flat matte finish and has been scratched up a bit. So I got the idea for a few bucks, lets see what it looks like.
  5. Nice looking bike. but at $30K for a "sport touring" type bike I think its going to be a really up hill battle. The deluxe model I think they said is over $36K Seriously I can buy a car for less that probably gets the same milage. The Victory I would like to have is around $18K and I cant justify that.
  6. Ed, thanks for your service also. You getting out of riding or just swapping steedes?
  7. I would have to say We probably ain't going to make it either. 375 miles round trip in a day plus eat probably is not my brides idea of fun. LOL We leave the following week for our trip up north so kind of watching the money.
  8. My bro-in Law had a Kawasaki that ran like a bat outa h___ on. 3 Cyl, but thats all it had. LOL Actually I would have voted for bad gas.
  9. Recently my back has come up with some bad discs. I have worn a back brace on the bike before, but it is long ago lost. So did some reading up on different things available. I have the Utopia backrest, but still I find myself slouching. I looked at kidney belts from FOX, Alpinstars and some others. One of the most interesting posts I read talked about a Back-A-Line brace. Had a couple references to Web Bke World write up and a touring bike mag. Whats you alls experience and thoughts? These braces run $45-50 Kidney belts are all over the place $25 to $100+ I will say the $25 one looks almost like the elastic and velcro back brace from Wally world.
  10. I sent the link for most of the elbows and stuff. It was pretty straight forward. Mine came with a Ford type carb fuel filter the screwed in, which I don't think the facett will. But other than that once you get the other out you'll see its pretty easy.
  11. Well he won $100 he could have bought ice cream next time around.
  12. I had a Master Sgt I worked for in the USAF. He was coming back from leave and had a big ole Ford Galaxy or something. the fuel pump quite on him in the middle of the night. So he rigs up the gas tank to pressurize off a hose and blows in it to get the gas up to carb. Starts car and drives, sticking the hose out the window so the air rushing by goes in the hose. So as long as the car is moving it has pressure in tank. LOL I thought the guy was a freakin genius.
  13. When I was in USAF we had an airplane get a hole in a wing from a rabbit. Now you may ask how does a rabbit jump that high. Best w could figure was an eagle or something had his dinner in his claws, and the airplane scared him and he dropped it. So I'm thinking some bird had his meal and your radio scared him and he dropped his vittles.
  14. Yup me to Randy. Exactly the same reasoning I have stayed away from rings and mechanical work. I was a aircraft maint troop also on big birds C-141's. Saw the safety films where a guy lost a finger. then I was assigned a Sgt to train with. I forgot my ring one day and he showed me his hand, yup missing the ring finger. He told me some story but it got in my head. 2 or so years later I found out heck he was missing it as a kid, got caught in a hay bailer or combine or something. but it still put the picture in my head. I'm not even sure I could find my ring now.
  15. You can probably disconnect the vent hose and put a longer one on and blow in it to pressurize it too, that would force fuel. But I don't think that's fun either.
  16. Let me throw out a question here that sort of falls into this area. Does any one wear a kidney belt, or back support/brace? My back is going on the fritz as I have some bad discs again. Although it is good today and was OK yesterday, tomorrow who knows. So i had rode with a back brace thing that was sort of elastic with a couple metal stays in the back part. But now I am investigating kidney belts for more support. I ran across more than a few threads that led me to a support called Back-A-Line Web Bike had a rite up on it and the fellow seemed pleasently suprised by it. Not cheap @ $45-50 or so, but it looks to actually have some merit to the claims with the lumbar support built in. Where as the kidney belts just seem to go around you.
  17. Dacheeda- you have any recomendations on back supports for riding. My back is giving issues again. I do have a utopia backrest. Somewhere I have a backbrace with gel padding and velro closure. Would a kidney belt be the same thing?
  18. While not the facet, the Mr Gasket I put in is almost the same size. So here is a write up I did and directions. I think the adapters and elbows may even work for you. The facet you shouldn't have to trim off the plastic outer part like I did with the Mr Gasket.
  19. Boy now theres a switch. A superseded part that looks better built. I would think by now they would have figured out how to build them as thin as pop cans +1 on the Purolator
  20. I guess my little Sears charger is an antique. Well I know its 30yr old or more. But I use it alot to power up relays to check out and lights etc. It brought more than one flat battery up in tthe last 4yr or so. Sooo I wonderguys if it has to sense 7v or whatever, could a 9v battery say be connected to fake it out?
  21. The only pencil type gauge I own anymore is in the OEM tool kit. And I wouldnt trust it to put air in the mower tires. Those things are terribly unreliable. I have one like the blue covered one in the link minus the filler part. Was over $100 15yr or more ago. I sure dont want it bangin around in the saddle bags, and dont have the room typically either. From what I have experienced with the digital gauges I have purchased most have been within 1/2 lb of each. Like Dan said you just need to know it will read the same every time and where it reads for what you want. If its 5 high thats where it needs to be.
  22. So what was the "pre-filter" Just a foam wrap around the filter? Or was it something that was separate?
  23. Memphis shades may be the least expensive route. Not sure but worth a check.
  24. Bob Myers seems to be pretty versed in these. He is upgrading to the 20's though and may have a pair for sale there. I was looking pretty hard at them, but have had some minor disasters lately.
  25. Just for giggles, is there any kind of adjustment on the windshield? Like where it bolts tot the forks/struts are they slotted? Maybe repositioning it more upward would change the air flow.
