  1. If its a second Gen and its the actual headlight, there is no way to replace it. Well easily anyways. The lens is glued to the housing. There is a write up or two about changing it out and installing HID assemblies. Lens and all.
  2. What I have found is. As you lift the bike the jack wheels turn. Much like when you jack a car up the jack pulls itself under the car. Well the bike jack does the same thing. And because the weight is much more concentrated it makes it amplified. And if you have then removed the bags or something you have changed how the weight is after its lifter. Then when you go to sit it down the wheels dont always caster straight. It has caused me more than one or two "oh crap" as your letting it down. Letting it down is the only time I have run across scary moments. You know your trying to ease the handle off the closed position and nothing, nothing, then it seem all of a sudden it wants to go down quickly. Thats where I seem to have problems.
  3. I go back and forth. I have a set of Harley slash cut mufflers that I like, nice sound. but on a trip of 3000+ miles I dont like the roar so much. Makes it hard on ears and also hard sometimes to hear the passenger. So I usually swap them out on long trips. its a 20-30 min job.
  4. You can try to "expand" the side pieces of the plug your installing. The tooth picks will do about the same thing with no fuss though. I have thought about wiring in a fused direct wire, but have read you need to cut the voltage down to around 5v for most GPS. Garmin sells a wire you can "direct" power from. then plug end has a power reducer or whatever they call it built in. Something like this is required.
  5. Seaking: When I think of the trials you went thru on your deal I just shake my head. Its was kind of "one of them thing" perfect storm deals. What caused what to go bad first? Was the switch being in a weakened condition the start? Who knows. I'm just glad you got it up and going. I enjoyed tossing ideas back and forth on it with you.
  6. I like it has the larger tires instead of the doughnut jobs.
  7. I'm with you TX2Strugis, With the bad disc in my neck it hurts. I would think somewhere on the trailer would be a build or ID plate.

One way to look at the Bolt is its different from the Suzuki and Kawasaki options for same size bike. More on a Sportster look than a Fat Boy cruiser style.
  9. The wife and I have a trip up NC way planned for Oct around the 10th. Sure hope the leaves hold out for her to see. Last year wasnt to great. Some spots they were falling and it made it tricky to ride with the leaves on the ground and in blind corners.
  10. We use to have a group of USAF aircraft mechanics that when they got out went to Saudi and worked for them. Dang good money back then in 80's. Tax free if I remember. As for me, I'm too dang old to do that and I don't think I could get a kitchen pass to boot.

When I started looking for a bike to get back to riding in 07 I saw a lot of sporty's for sale. I bet 70% of them were 883 and punched. I guess the idea was to get something tagged under 90cc to get the cheaper rates on insurance. I have seen a few around here and they are kind of neat looking. But not my cup of tea.
  12. Good possibility its bushings.Check for leakage on the shock to be sure.
  13. I didnt even read that far. My eyes bugged out when I saw the price.
  14. No unfortunately there is not a whole lot of options as to the 4.5" passing lights. I think the Yamaha one and maybe roadkrome or somebody made one. but thats about it. So they are pricey at best. then the LED bulbs some are running from the Norther Tool are OK but not near the bulb of the $200+ truck lite jobs either. but do you really want to spend like $500 on the passing lights? Look around here, you may run across an option somebody has done you can live with. I like the bigger lights also. but there are some of the smaller like 2-3" jobs that you can get mounted up off the turn signals I think that are not bag looking.
  15. Whats their idea of "slight modification"??? I can tell you the back of it will have to be bent almost a 90 deg up to bolt to the triple tree. Now could a fellow maybe build a bolt on tab to do the trick? I dunno. Depends on how long the flat back bracket of the light bar is, will it interfere with anything. Will it simply have to be cut off? Can it be bent upwards to accomplish mounting? Unfortunately the answers you will get will be vague at best.
  16. Dont know about these starters in particular, but yes the armature can get "bad" spots. We use to take them apart, emory cloth them a little and maybe throw a set of brushes at it. GM starters use to run about $20 to do in the shop I worked at say 30yr ago. :shock3: WOW was it really that long ago???
  17. Mine will work its way out. Not all the time kind of depends on roads. I did just replace my power cord to the mini USB type from the Garmin flat long looking one for the traffic pick up. The contacts underneath for that thing seem to get corroded and don't always charge. And I never find out until I really need it.
  18. You did see you can order online right? JK Do you have a proposed route on say google maps? About what time frame?

Yup When I saw that I thought now that there is funny.:rotf:
  20. I am sort of guessing here. Is this just the name of the particular kit you found? Anything different or special about this kit VS another bi-xenon kit? There are several threads about the HID headlights. Its pretty straight forward depending on which kit you get. Mine was plug and play for the most part. Harness for ballast to headlight and headlight plug to ballast with a relay. Stuff under the fairing easy.

Kind of like the highly over rated hype n wait on I phone huh?
  22. You talking about where the muffler meets the pipes?
  23. I have a board aprox 2" tall I put under the kick stand to stand the bike more upright for checking oil. I use this board and then slide the jack/adapter under mine.
  24. Flyinfool Simple fix for ignition switch load? Install a by pass relay. I dont know if I want to get back into pulling a trailer with the bike. Really dont take any trips all that long anymore that I need a week or more stuff. So I'm afraid it would have to be stored somewhere most of the time. But I like the small car top carrier type trailers. These jobs look to be the most cost effective way to haul "stuff" The camper ones are great, but way outa my $$. Besides indoor plumbing is kinda nice. The diamond plate is a nice addition. However to save weight I would look at using the aluminum stuff vs the steel.
  25. So did you scratch its belly while it was rolling over for you?
