The plug for the "Aux" under the seat has a blank in it. I dont have a clue why. Steve (M61amech) may make a plug that goes right in there. I actually had a old harness off something laying around and pulled it apart and used a pin out of it. If Steve cant hook you up let me know, I think I have a connector I can send ya.
  4. Couple weeks ago when it first started dropping we saw 2.68 in SC, between Sapphire Valley NC and Savannah Ga and then home to Fla. We are 2.86 gal today here in Sebring.
  5. I have been using some thing made by Turtle Wax for the plastic bits. Kind of like an Armour All but in gel form. Other option is this spray paint type stuff called Plasti Dip. its paint but has the texture of rubber with a slight gloss. My gas cap was giving me the blinding eye treatment. My son had some of the black plasti dip around so we tried it. Best part is if you dont like it, let it cure up a day and you can peel it off like an orange.
  6. Thanks for the help making this site go forward.

    Shifter Bolt

If your worried about the head size, measure up what you need to cover the shifter. If its real close to what the side cover head is and you think you need more surface area, just dont cut the bolt off as short and add a SS washer. Thin one like an AN if you find it.

Far as I know the aux power out let was on them from 99 on. I know where it is and half the time if I dont have the double outlet plugged in I cant find it. Its on the left of the faring as sitting on bike, just under the "roll" where the speaker is. You almost have to get off the bike and look with a flashlight.
  9. I went back to blue. Because then I knew I was on the right site. Change is hard on us old guys. Still trying to figure out what is still here, where its at and how to make it work.
  10. They are just a sticker. So you could use some mylar. I have a piece of carbon fiber look stuff I got off e-bay. You cut it close to shape, put it on and then I take a razor blade and finished up the trim. The custom inserts are nice.

    Ignition by-pass

    by-pass relay
  12. Eddie, I have a friends son who has been riding off and on for the last 3-4yr, without a Mc endorsement. His dad and I both have raked him over the coals on this telling him that should something happen its just like driving with no licence. He could loose his house, cars etc. I my self have been in the insurance is higher than what the car is worth.
  13. I'm still trying to figure out what color or shade of folder on the left means what. I'll take a stab that if its bold dark subject it has a new post.
  14. For $750 I would look into one of them e-z up screen room things.
  15. Well I asked a couple of folks but no answer. any of you smart guys tried a basket out of a first gen? What about a V-max? Same motors right? And I have not read anything about one of those screaming.

Boss man is in middle of upgrading site as you are visiting. So for you, you might not notice anything different. For us old timers around here some things look strange. but its all good to keep the site running and manageable..
  17. PM sent to both you all.
  18. I tried to look for an ad in member vendor for like the by-pass. so on a guess its not been added to site yet.
  19. I had another bike painted. I do have a friend that own a body shop that did the work. I asked when his slow time was and if that would be an OK time to bring the parts. I disassembled my painted parts and took pieces to him. We had picked out paint thru House Of Color. Which was a brand he used so if he needed maybe a splash of say the flex stuff he had it and did not have to waste or buy special. I think he told me a Qt for 2 fenders, bat wing fairing side covers.
  20. If you are trying to make something connect, normally less resistance is good. So for your pump with 4 being the low end you are reading 2 so there is less "restriction" for the electricity to go thru. Typically the OEM fuel pumps go about 30k miles. Some more some less. Mine was about 32-32,000. I would hit reserve and bike would sputter and miss and engine all but quit. I would flip to reserve and engine never would catch up and you would have to pull off the side of the road and let the pump cool down, or at least thats what it seemed like to me. After this almost getting me hurt a couple times I started to investigate the Mr Gasket pump replacement. Since then not a lick of problems concerning fuel. Check the points out. If you remember the old days when we had ignition points you will know what your looking for in a bad set.
  21. Drop me a PM Barkeep. Got some parts coming and should have some built up b Monday.
  22. Look thru the gps section here at some of the threads. There are a couple on the traffic thing. Like I mentioned previously, to me its more of a gimick than a useful thing. On a 675 mile trip from where I am in center of Fla to north side of Charlotte it only picked up in a couple places. Orlando, jacksonville I think and Charlotte. Not positive on Jacksonville. Then heading south from Cincinatti back to Fla maybe 5 cities if that. So for me its not a big selling point.
  23. I have a question on this subject I just thought of the other day. For the most part the first and second gen engines are , the same. So why doen no one complain about clutch whine on the 1st gen? Could you install a clutch basket for a first gen in a second gen?
