Good Cheap Bike Jack?
djh3 replied to ChiefCass's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
If you go to the HF site and just sort of look at the design of the 2 jacks that have been mentioned, you will see the alum one has a wider foot print so to speak. My ccraftsman -
Nuff said in my book.

If you get to adding many accesories like lights. You may want to add the ignition by-pass relay to help the load on the ignition switch.

4: Don't ride behind the bikes with the drag pipes. Loud pipes don't necessarily save lives, but they sure give you a headache

Puc, look @ a Vaquero. It is pretty much what you said, no trunk, single seat etc. I am a member on the Kawasaki board ther since 07 when I bought my 900 vulcan. I bet I have read over 100 posts on the heat issue of the Voyager. I think anything 2012 up has the heat divirter system built into it and they did do some recall repairs on the 10-11 bikes. Just have to kind of know what to look for on the older models. Look around the Kawi site there and see what guys think about the repair.

There is just way way to many openings for sly n funny comments here. I'll check back later, because I just know ole Puc is thinkin sumtin up.

Good Cheap Bike Jack?
djh3 replied to ChiefCass's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I like the Sears alum atv jack. When you look at them I like the ones the front pair of wheels are outside the framework. I think makes it a little more stable. I think list was 129 or so an I paid under 100. We ha d a couple of the "cheap" table type jacks at work. They lasted about 3 days and the jacks were done. No kits to fix either. So sometimes cheaper is not allways a deal. Check craigs list local to you and see what might be available. -
Puc Im with you. I have over the last couple years adjusted my under riding garments to those longer legged weather wicker jobs. Dry is good, also in the off chance I get wet they dry out quicker than cotton. I have seen the beaded seat things and dont see how they are comfy for long either. To me would be like sittin on marbles.

As mentioned you need some way to lower the truck to make it easier to load. However the load is going to high. Trailers typicaly are lower to ground. It would also be less likely to tip over and be easier to unload out of a trailer.

Yup the beads work good for me. I have used them on the last 4 sets on the bike. Have them in the rears on the 3/4 ton PU now also. sometimes those inside beads are so sharp (squared off) they wont slip over at all. they should have like a rounded edge leading to the inside of the tire, but sometimes its dang near square. and that dont glide over nuttin.

Back in Jan when I had to rebuild my desktop, I had all kinds of problems with IE. First I installed whatever was on disc for win 7. Then of course you have to update like 5 versions IE 9, 10 and beyond. Well once I got to 10 and up I think it was IE would either crash, not work with some sites or just plain lock up. I have been using chrome pretty much since Feb or March.

The Voyager was on my rader pretty hard before I got the RSV. I didnt get to ride one, but talked to dozens of guys that had them. One of the largest complaints was heat off the motor. One fellow said his wife wouldnt even ride anymore as it burned her right foot. I have a pair of RK muffs on mine now, but for long trips I dont like all the racket and put the OEM's back on.

So do I understand rite. One side will sit down in bead and the other wont go over the hump? I have had car tires the bead lip has a bit more rubber on the in side and it just wont go. Sometimes once the ru-glide or whatever dries it actually gets sticky. I have used baby powder inside tube type tires to keep the tubes from getting pinched.

I have just a 6x12 cargo trailer, but have same concerns. As we use the trailer to haul some boxs and have to work out of also. I was thinking for me I was going to make some sort of nutplate. The e track or similar type track system works well.

I was looking at the brace a bit more prior to our trip to NC. L-5 S-1 is the problem again. Good and bad days. Try to remember to strech exercise prior to getting out of bed. So far the left leg numbness has been gone for 3 months or so. Still have ocasional localized pain, but so far have been able to tuff it out. I had just remembered from years ago lots of bikers wearing kidney belts and thought a bit of extra support on long trips might help. It did years ago, but then I didnt hqve a seat near as comfortable as I do now.

I dunno about your bike, but 100w each =200w total and mine would probably kill the charging system in no time. I'm Not even sure it would charge the battery.

Petroleum Based Solvents?
djh3 replied to Chaharly's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Gasoline, mineral spirits, lacqure thinner. Most any solvent I think. There are some like turpintine that I think are non-petrolum. On second thought I may be off on the mineral spirits. Time to fire up google -
Setting radio preset stations
djh3 replied to TCK04RSV's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I'm with you. It seems more of a PIA than it is worth. It seems I set mine and then a couple weeks later I need to disconnect the battery for some reason or another. Then its months before I reset them. Having the 3 FM x 6 or 6 stations confuses me too. I try to put the ones the wife likes all together and anything else on another block then the 3rd one I use for areas we go to that stations dont come in good here. Pandora works about everywhere, so thats my go to. -

If I send you 2 bucks do I get 2 hardleys?
-
I would have to agree. Certainly didnt work as well as the one I had a lot of years ago. But FM radio in general just dont seem to catch a station as well as it di many years ago. Maybe its other electronic interference and things like that going on now days than say in the 80's

Smallest Utility Trailer for RSV?
djh3 replied to Venturous's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I bought a 6x12. but I didnt care if it was a bit longer. -
Dont know if they are all like that, but chances are...... You might try the used market. You would think the TD bar would work but I understand the mount is completely different.

Sorry for post. I kind of knew some of the statement was not 100% correct. But why any kind of pension @ 5yr service for congress and nothing for a GI? They also receive FREE medical care unlike a discharged GI. You can qualify for VA, but they have to have room for you to get in.
