My ass hurts bad 67% of the time. Is that the same?

GM use to have a serious problem with the "extra" ground at the headlights. Came off the headlight harness and went up to the fender. Dont know if the newer cars are that way.
-
MARCARL, yup they work on high beam. Thats how mine was wired in, thru the high beam. Funny with the halogen headlight I ran high beam in daylight. With the HID I have not even thought about it.

A buddy of mine @ work was telling me about a scheme the gov had on banking. The gov is wants to attach a "fee/tax" to electronic banking. So not only can they track your cash/checks but your e-deposits credit card transactions and even pay pal, and tax you on it. So not only will you pay income tax on your pay check, they will charge you to deposit your own money in your bank. On the health care side, every time I call the VA for something I get a 5 min recording of if this is an emergency call 911, if your thinking of hurting yourself blah blah. I pretty much have closed my ears until I hear a person pick up. Funny, dont think of hurting myself until I hear all the scrabble about numbers and option shave changed and then spend 10 min on hold. LOL

Yup thats what I had originally. Something like a PAR 36 bulb GE#4411. I switched to something like these. So now these are the bulbs I have in the Adjure lights.

I think I was on a guberment list way before 94. It was called active duty military. Funny they could have me or anybody else for that matter, on a "gang list" and be active duty. Wouldn't you think that would set off some lights somewhere?? I would think the possibilities of someone with a heritage softail would have better chance of being acquainted with a gang than someone with say an 88 Venture. Well except maybe Puc.

Hmm looks like their plan worked.

Yea I did think of the higher idle thing. I do have additional lights, but all are LED run/signal lights. I did rev the motor a little maybe 2-300 rpm and still had same results. Next time I have it out I'll act like a snow bird, and leave the left turn signal on for awhile whilst riding down the road.

dingy, what if you ad a touch of vinegar to your baking soda. then it foams and should remove the green slime. then rinse with some clear water, let dry and apply dielectric grease.

I'll be dipped. I thought I had read a copy of that law way back when I put mine together and it just said had to not be operated in hours of darkness. Oh well I never got in trouble, and I think as long as you use your head the EYE is not needed. imop

I was at the stop light today, and as it was overcast I noticed something. The neutral light and cruise on lig3ht seemed to kind of flash along with the turn signal. Not copletly like the signal indicator does but enough to notice. I'm kind of leaning towards the idea its a ground in the signal sockets. What do you all think? Am I thinking the right way here?

Loved that show. Now thats one I would like to see them remake now if they did it rite.

Depends on what you have. My lights have instead of a "bulb" its a housing that looks like the bulb, then in back you install the actual bulb. I dont know what they actually call them. Mine are made by adjure I think the company is.

I ran a headlight modulator on my 900 Vulcan and also the RSV when I first got it. About a year after I got the RSV I swapped to an HID and like the light it puts out. I like the headlight modulators. I think they make the bikes stand out. You dont have to spend the big bucks on a kit with the "automatic eye" thing. All the law says is you can not run a modulated light at night. Well DAH. I had like a $30 something one from JC Jipme hooked up thru a toggle switch worked great and if the modulator happened to crap out, I could flip the switch and have full on headlight. I also have a brake light modulator flasher gizmo. I like it, I guess because I think it helps people see you when your stopping. I watch for folks pulling up behind me and let loose of the brake and reapply if I have been sitting so they see the light flash again.

Yup thats about all you need. I forget if its 8 or 10mm socket. A longer handled phillips screw stick helps because you dont have to get your mitts up under the tank as bad. I have washed out paper filters a few times. Some dish soap in hot water, plunge in a few times then rinse let dry for a day or so.

My brother for a lot of years when going cross country, would ride and some times stop @ a rest area on the interstate and crash on a picnic table. Now a days that would be scary I think.

At first seeing the information I was thinking it was the water buffalo. Then I remembered those were 750. My bro-inlaw had the Kawasaki 250 triple. For a small cc bike that thing boogied. Would beat my Rd 350 up to about 50.

upgrading bulbs
djh3 replied to oconeedan's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I tried 2 or 3 "LED replacement" type bulbs with very little success. The way the LED bulbs displace light its more straight out from the little "dome" piece. So look at the bulbs, and when they are in the socket you wil see they point up. So the beam is not projecting the direction you want. If you can find one the ones that look like a lolly pop would work. I made some rear LED brake/run lights for mine from some round lights I found on e-bay for around $6 and made a bracket and got them fit under the lens. No small feat. I have a rear light bar from MA61AMECH (steve) on the rear, and additionaly I found some LED clearence lights on e-bay from R&P carriages. I wired them with some resistors in them to run at partial voltage for running lights and fuel voltage for stop. Mounted on a bracket off the saddle bag to fender rail. Look under trun signals at end of chrome. -
I guess I'm terrible. We try to pretty much stay @ Comfort Inn (or their corporate partners) or another chain I have points with. Couple reasons A: got points and they are free or lower cost. That way we can travel a few days more B: Usually have breakfast included so saves some $$ C: I dont have to carry a blasted hair dryer from someone. We do however try to partake of local fare. Have ran across some good ones, and some I dont think I would go back. Last fall on the food front was pretty much a bust for the week +. Best place was in Blue ridge Ga on the north side of the little town next to a bank I think. Next would be an Irish Pub in Savannah Ga. Best dang onion rings I have ever had!!!

Replacing Tape Deck with instrument cluster
djh3 replied to shmily's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK like I need another project like I need ....... you fill in the blank. But I will ask. I googled "ponchs gauge cluster" and a couple other lines yesterday and could not find any pics. Does anyone have any pics of the original set up, and how it went in? I found one on here but the fellow had added a Tach and digital something or other and had to move the cruise switch. So I dont think this would be an easy mod for a fellow to do. My thoughts are somewhere along the lines of a simple install, maybe a 7 on the skill set. What gauges were in his? I would take a poke and say they would have to be 1.5" gauges otherwise they are just way huge. Volts-water temp-oil press? I am actually thinking some small rectangle LED type readouts. But have to source all this out first. -
Tooch: if there is only one HD dealer per provence, where in the heck to you folks buy T-shirts then? I keep hearing the same thing Victory dont have the dealer network. So I pose the question, when was the last time you took a RSV into the shop and the fellows knew what the heck it was? I have heard more horror stories about guys taking their RSV in for something and the dealer flat !@# it up.

Replacing Tape Deck with instrument cluster
djh3 replied to shmily's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
The ones in the link I would think are much to large to fit in the area. From what I just measured up on mine even @ 1.5" they are bigger than the opening. Looks as though you will have to make a face plate that extends out a little and mount the mini gauges in it. I have never seen a picture of Ponchs gauge set so really dont have an idea how he made them. -
I think you did the right thing. You have offered a "grace" period for the OP to purchase. If he cant decide in a day or so I would say "next". You and I have both been around long enough that we know there are folks that would have snapped it up without even thinking about the 1st guy.

Heyyy,, PB&J - CONGRATULATIONS to you and Mrs. PB&J!!

Congrats, many happy years. Always liked them silver wings. I thought Honda hit a market there others were missing. A mid sized bike someone could pack and go tour on. -
Milage they stated is about what I get with my RSV. I have thought since I got the bike the MPG aint great. My 900 that had to run at high RPM to keep up got around 50 MPG. My buddies Heritage got mid 40 to 50's. So I dont know about their numbers there. Maybe they had a few of those 0-60 passes figured in on that tank. Some of the remarks guys made about that article are well... funny. Like "you should have compared XYZ Harley and the price would have been...." Yea but knucklehead they were comparing top touring competitors. Bring your best in this range and see what you got. Besides us uneducated fellows see on Harley bagger and cant tell the difference between a classic, ultra classic, electra glide, on and on. I see no difference except the MSRP.
