Creating a buzz. whats the old saying "there is no bad publicity"
-
Well a couple ideas popped into my head. Cutback on the amount of trips, and see if financially that works for you. I'm sure you probably already looked at this option. Where abouts in Fla is your ship reunion? My brother in law goes to his most every year I think. He was on an ammo supply ship back in the mid 50's I would guess. If you need a place to toss the tent look me up. Nuttin fancy, but got a cement pond and some dry land. As far as "starter" bikes, I have a friend that just loves those 1100 Hondas. For a bigger bike he says they are pretty maneuverable. To me a 650 would be if'y for long distances. I had a 900 Vulcan that was OK one up and served me well. Sportys are good if you get the "low" model. They are an inch or so lower in the saddle. The 883's are widely available and lots out there. (quick check of CL and found 5 2000 or newer under 3K) Lots of gals ride them. I would agree, now is getting prime time for buying. Good luck in your endeavor what ever it may be. Let us know when your heading down to Fla, maybe we can arrange a meet and eat.

Shoot it looked fine. I think the idea is to just push against the tire anyways.

I learned a long long time ago. Black vehicles unless trailer show queens are a PIA. I never had a black vehicle for this reason. Back in high school a buddy had a really nice 69 chevelle SS Black white stripes. Car was awesome looking rite after he finished cleaning it. by the time he would drive to the local hang out, it seemed like it collected all the dust and grit in the county. I kind of like silver. The black on my 09 RSV is bad enough.

I got grapes, and spring rolls.

Raised white letter front tire
djh3 replied to farm1810's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Well if it does the same as on the RSV it may help slow speed manuvering. But here is what I use to do way back when the wite letter tires were popular and I couldnt get them in the size I needed. I just got a white paint pen from the model car section of department store. Clean the letters on sidewall with some alchol and paint them. You may have to repaint once or twice but they usually stay decent. -
I had to go to a company function in Miami that was a couple days and a banquet. I drove my 89 Mustang GT convert 5 spd car. The vallet got in reved the motor a couple times and stalled it twice. Then when he got it running he was sliding the clutch so bad I went up the drive yelling at him I didnt want to have to change the clutch before I left. If it would have been a bmw or porche somebody would have been strangled.

Finally Got Her Home
djh3 replied to Gypsygirl's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
When I worked for u-haul back in the 70's we had all Ford equipment. Alot of them the old 300 straight 6. We had some issues with slow starts and the fix was going to bigger cables, we used ones off the 6v. So bigger cables may help. -
Thanks for the link. If I decide to go this route it may help me out. No need to scan anything yet. Still in development mode. I have bid on an Isimple box on e-bay. So will see ho it goes. If I get it cheap I may proceed. I found a guy sort of local (60 miles or so) that has a couple ipod touch and an I phone for under 30 bucks. I dont think the little postage stamp sized ipods will work on the isimple gizmos. VZUDEN: yea that would be great. I will pm you an email you can send them to.

Is there some sort of a part number or something on the isimple box? Something besides the long Yamaha part# Isimple numbers there boxs from what I have seen on the site something like ISTY 571. then has DIP switches on it to configure to I guess which method you are using to control it. Set one way the radio controls it, set another the unit will be controlled via the CD setting of radio. From what I think I have seen, the Yamaha unit CD cord plugs into a flat double row connector on the top. Like maybe a 22 pin connector, but it only uses maybe 6-7 of the pins? I spent some time yesterday researching Ipods. WOW them things are pricey even if you get older ones. I found 2 touches and an Iphone early version on my local Craigslist for under $50 so that might be do able. I may be just spinning my wheels here but sometimes ya just have to think of things and reason them out. Thanks for the help.

Ya know I think first day it showed up might have been Apr 1.

The service manual available is OK for information. Torque specs etc. Not allways best approach to a job and sometimes not all the info needed. The Haynes and Clymer manuals have good info, way better pictures and discriptions on how to get things done. Sometimes an ocasional short cut here or there. Best bet....... Join here and get knowledge from guys been working on these things for years. The shop manual is free. And if you think you would like one for a refernce (I did) find one of the after market manuals. I bought a paper copy as it was in my price range.

Yea, old news. Someone posted it up a couple weeks ago over on the Delphi site. Best guess I take away from the bits and pieces I have read is this has a good shot at being next RSV.

You know, the cargo capacity is really what hangs me up from getting serious about one. I guess if I just broke down and got a trailer, it would solve the "where am I going to put this question. The bags look spacious, but the funky shape I think makes it tuff to pack.

Yea I was on a site for a Vic dealer by me that if I was to change bikes would probably go there first. They show a 13 Vision Tour new with 2300 miles (hows that new) for 16K ABS heated seat and grips (like a fellow needs that here)

OK so it has REALLY LOUD speakers. Paint a little different, but I dont see a "completely different" bike than the Cross. kind of like the 7 models HD has that are some kind of Glide something. Not saying I dont like it. Its a lot of coin for a bike with no trunk for me.

I am possibly working on a project for my RSV concerning the I-simple . I need some info from someone that has the unit and works.

I like the blue ones. But has the roaster oven been fixed on that one?

Fuel pump, or ignition switch or...????
djh3 replied to vtx and venture's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Lets take a stab your talking about a 99-2013 RSV. If the pump clicks after sitting awhile, its working. So off to the ignition switch. Do lights, radio etc come on? Sounds like it. You say it rolls over but wont run. Look into the ecu, coils that kind of thing as it sounds like no fire to cyl. -
Far as I can see the Magnum is a CC with a big front wheel. Still nice looking scoot. Saw the brite apple green CC yesterday crusing up the highway. I like that color.

Passing lights/Driving light installation
djh3 replied to djadam's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
55w to much from what I have been told. Especially the way Yamaha has all the power running thru the ignition switch if you have not added the by-pass relay. If your going to stay with the regular PAR 36 bulbs you might look into these H7616 sealed beams. they are Halogen and 37-38w ea. Wired thru a relay I would think they would be OK. -
