Where do I go from here??
djh3 replied to Condor's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
OK Yea if you can do some pics and some measurements maybe we can help someone out down the road. So whats the dealer going to let you have one for? -
I will say, the 230 I am running now is not going to get near the milage I got out of the MC2. Right now I think its about 8k or so and can probably get another 1000 out of it or so. Just running it out until I need to change.

My thought on this kind of thing is why? XP worked great, 7 not so bad and 8 was a flop. ME sucked so they are pretty hit and miss. And they completely make you change because after they come out with the next big thing they stop any support for something tried and true. It would be like, GM making a car for 3 years and then nobody can work on it because the DRB cant read anything. Besides it takes us more advanced guys longer to figure things out and get comfortable with an OS. And not everybody want to use a dang tablet or phone to read e-mails, surf the net and word process etc. SO all the touch based stuff just dont seem to work on a "dual" type thing they are trying to force.

2nd Gen Windshield Bad In The Rain

I saw a pic somewhere along the way a fellow had taken off the eyebrows and added some strip LED lights. Looked super sharp actually. Better visibility in daylight and kind of cool on the night shot he had too. -

I figured maybe they were talking about a Can Am or Slingshot. -

Would not be the first time I have heard of an external connector like these to begin working better once "reconnected" -

I think I gave you the number. I did some research one night and that was a cross number I picked up from a first gen replacement though. So the guy at NAPA couldn't help you out? Geez, when I worked in a "real" prts house our books had listing in the back you could look up diameter, height etc and then it would show you a part # OR the old tried and true....... What have we got in this box Rocky? So being you got the donar stat give us some dimensions and maybe we can looks ome stuff up. Worse case, if you had a flat piece of alum, could you build a filler washer /spacer to use the 156 stat? AH HA I found it !!!!!!!http://www.stant.com/files/9314/0979/5335/2012_Passenger_Light_Truck_Catalog.pdf Look here starting page 288 -
I had the Michelin Commander 2 in the 130 front. Rant them over 17k. Loved them. First day I took the bike for a ride with the OEM size 230 Shinkos on it was like relearning to ride this thing all over again. It seemed really lazy trying to get into a round about and turning out onto the highway from the subdivision. Turning into like a street or parking lot to the right on more of a 90 degree wasn't a big deal. But by the 30 mph or so gradual corner was a shock how lazy truning in the 150 was.

OK so this leaves me out for now. LOL Got a question for you though. If I make an adapter to plug in the 5 pin say in the back for the wife so it would play music from her phone I'm thinking it would also play up to mine, which is what I dont want. Trying to figure out how to allow her to play music from her phone and not transmit thru entire system. A diode inline maybe??

Mr Gasket instructions ... I think

Keep us updated on how it goes. Might as well replace the fuel filter while your in there. -
Well you have to kind of remember the parts for the 2nd gen RSV have been out of production for probably 4 or 5 years now even thought the last "new" one was sold as a 2013, I would bet anything after say 2010 was built with existing stock of parts. If the lowers and fairing etc were made of fiberglass they sure would be a lot easier to repair. They are kind of like Corvette parts if someone has them and you want them.......... Because a fender off a malibu aint gonna work.

I think possibly that is because most motels are closer to well traveled roads and intersections. Where as camp grounds typically try to stay away from towns. I would like to make plans of some sort, but current work conditions don not allow. Maybe in the future.

So whats it do??? Is it different than the cables that connect to a BT GPS and supposedly let you use your phone? I have yet to get mine to work correctly. I can hear phone but the other party says there is tons of background noise and no voice. I have yet to get anyone to give me info on how to use it exactly. I get the pairing etc, just the voice from the bike over the phone sucks no volume and I have not found a way to increase it

I have a pair of the 230 tourmasters on mine now. The rear is close to done. I too ordered a 777. I like the tread patter as it crosses the centerline of the tire so when riding in the rain the water has some place to go. The load rating is very good also. Which has been upgraded since last time I bought tires a year or so ago. I like the 130 front also and will go back to one next time the front get changed out.

I dont remember the manufacture of my risers, but I would think they are all made very similar. It almost looks like your fairing has tilted back. Maybe because of no support. There is an inner mount bracket, maybe split the fairing and make sure all the bolts are on that thing. Other option is maybe go to local hardware store and find something hard rubber. I know Lowes has some rubber stoppers you could measure the gap and cut the stopped and a piece of double stick tape it to fairing. It cant be particularly good for the fairing to be bouncing with no support. I will take a couple pics of mine later.

So what did you finally go with on the thermostat? -
Is the rubber bushing/cushion things still glued to the fairing? I had installed a pair of risers on mine also, and noticed once the risers are on because it moves the bars back the cushion things have no support. I think it was Kirby here had made at one time some alum bobbin looking things to fit in the semi circle part of the cushions. I had to drill like a 1/4" hole in the riser kind of where the old bars would have been. Dont know if he has anymore but you could probably use say an inexpensive 9/16 or whatever OD size socket would be right and do the same thing. Heck even a wooden dowel would do it. Just has to mount solid to the riser so the rubber cushion would be supported.

2nd Gen Windshield Bad In The Rain
djh3 replied to uechi kid's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I made a "custom" height one. Best I can tell it is about right height. But in rain and behind trucks it sure dont work as well as the tall boy. Rain comes rite over and hit me just about in the eyeballs. -
Yup, I'm Less and less intrigued by the hour.

I think on the card you have to make a folder and call it MP3. Load your music in there. thats how my 765 is anyways. Here is a link to the manual incase you dont have that. Found this info: or I did my 765 soooo long ago heck I dont remember.
-
LOL yea looks sort of that way dont it. Still no info back from owner. So I'm thinking he ain't that interested in selling. The more I look at it the more cold feet I get. That rear corner really has me wondering. Kind of think its been "lived in" as a main house. SO furniture might be junk too. Good thing is I don't have to have it. I would rather have a Vic Cross Country, but I aint going to find one of those for 4K.

Great White, thanks for info. Yea on that left rear I was sort of thinking the same thing. It looks awfully wavy. I guess it could be where a tarp has flapped on it and marked it up.
