  1. When I worked in restaurants we would try to get the new waitress to climb up and get the "bag stretcher" Also while in the AF send a guy to bench stock (parts room) for some flight line.
  2. I have used Turtle Wax chrome polish. Also there is a product called never dull. It is a treated cotton like substance in a can. Takes some doing, but you can bring a dull piece of aluminum to a brite shine if you work at it.
  3. Taller gearing would be kind of like "lugging" the engine. If you look at some of the threads guys are talking about fuel economy, they find they actually get better economy with a few more revs. Its just the way the motor/cams/timing is all set up. It dont like to be run at say 45 mph in 5th even though you think lower RPM would save fuel. Just is not the way the motor is set up. Intake, carb flow, valve train air flow etc is all designed for a specific air flow ratio. So fellows have figured out that 4th @ say 60 actually does get better fuel economy than 5th at same speed. I dont know all the design specs etc, but may have to do with better fuel/air mixture in intake etc with increased air flow. Make sense?
  4. Thanks Mike, but I think I can use my military discount for same amount. Would take care of tax. LOL AS of now I'm thinking the low quote has everthing 3 of the 4 have parts and pieces wise. So looking to see if any local reviews on the company around here before pulling the trigger. UNCLEDJ: I'm with ya on that brother. like cars you buy them with all them fancy heated and AC seats, electric whozits, that crap is gonna die sometime. And its usually tied in somehow so you cant just press on without it or by-pass it.
  5. Man those remind me of some aircraft Taxi lights I had installed many moons ago. They were on a GS1100 Suzuki and if you turned them both on at same time I think it slowed the bike. LOL Those are looking sporty. Almost same idea I had.
  6. Meet one of the co-owners a few years back in Las Vegas. He was there surveying and talking with folks there to open a "branch" of their sallon there. Dont know if they ever got it done. Gilley's had a huge fire a few years after their hay day, they did not suffer to badly. Hate to see it as I have been told lots of net stuff was in there and probably not replaceable. But financially if he wasn't insured, shame on him. They just had their "cash cow" days and have lots of time to rebuild. Shoot the guberment even has "free money" to help small business like his to update.
  7. Yea the day the AC quit completely that evap was one big block of ice except about 2-3" at top. Cleaned it with some chlorine water mix, shop vac and compressed air. But the "can" the evap/air handler sits in is rusted pretty good. I mean heck its 26 yr old. So this past week or so I have got 4 quotes for new air handler, and heat pump (outside unit) they are all for the comfortaire except the highest quote which was for a Rheem. Low was $3575 and high was 4850. No the high one is a contractor thru Home Depot and you can get 2yr interest free loan to put it in, but you also have to put some kind of 1200 buck air purifier thingy in. So actual AC is 4600 or what ever it figures out to. But have not read some good things on Rheem. The comfort aker seems like a good unit. But why would Carrier make a "chevy" unit if they already make the "caddy" ?
  8. So have you went in for the interview for that yet? A fellow I worked with told me how to probably get released. When they ask if you could give a fair trial tell them "bring the guility SOB in and we will give him a fair trial". Checked our dates up that way looks like Oct 10 we leave here, 2 days up. We will go back thru Savannah 16th and head home the 18th.
  9. Seems weird, where were you riding? Was it all roads or maybe newer paved? It wasn't shortly after it started raining by chance. Also just for a per-chance, check to see it is mounted in the correct rotation direction.
  10. Try running a ground jumper from battery direct to tailight housing and see what you get. Have you OHm ground back to battery or frame ?
  11. Usually thats about the time we go up Mike. I forget exact dates right now. We have a friend that has a time share over in Saphire we are staying with this year about that time. Normally has cooled down some, and if lucky leaves are changing. If your going to be in Helen you have to get one of them excelent pretzels from the old bavarin restruant.
  12. Funny this is my weekend project. I have been wathing the clutch fluid, as it is getting dark. The brakes still look good. But Autozone had quart of DOT 4 for same price for qt as pint, so no high finance there. Had a fresh set of rear pads to put in the rear so cleaned all that up, and flushed everything. New Shinko 777 ready to go on and finnished the mounting before supper. Got it set in place but got a couple things want to do before call good. I mount my own at the house. A 2x4 chunk of wood and tire spoons. Pretty much free except the heat and aggervation. LOL
  13. I was happy when I got my 09 and it had the CD player. But soon found out that for long trips with the wife it has to come out to have any luggage room.
  14. On the open wheel race cars I built transaxles for, we used a piece of brass welding rod with hi and low marks. Open service bolt, insert rod til bottoms and see where level is.
  15. Should be fine. I have been pretty happy with the mini toggle switches from radio shack. Small easy to hide.
  16. The longer toy haulers have the 3-4 feet closest to the gate on an angle on some models. The Raptors I looked at where big and heavy and way off the ground. Look liked were made for 4 wheelin off road. There are some tag alongs with the drop back but are in the long lengths.
  17. If I am traveling anywhere beyond very local I use earbuds. I have built a cable I can plug them into. Way better sound than you could get out of the speakers on the bike. They are not even an expensive pair. I think maybe $20 off e-bay, a pair of sony explodes of some sort.
  18. Well I kind of abstained my vote. I just started back to work after being basically laid off. (downsizing) I am at a local college so other than a couple breaks wont have any time off. Only a part time position so no bennies.
  19. EWW maybe not so good. Temp fix maybe and shop around for the spot lights. There are plenty of the 4.5 light housing for sale. As long as they would be rmovable down the road.
  20. Just google for a pic of something like 2005 yamaha RSV. Probably 40% of the pics will show light bars on the front. Now as far as that particular bar quality, workmen ship etc I cant say. I have heard past guys say the chrome wasnt long lasting on the china made ones. As far as the lighting goes, thats going to all depend on what you select to put in there. From the $8 each incandescent sealed beam to the close to $300 LED trucklite jobs.
  21. Yup kind of what I was going to say. Lay a straight edge along it and if you have a gap, its bent. Its a pretty hefty chunk of metal and unless its been abused, I would doubt its bent.
  22. I ran a pair of the MC 2 on my RSV and got over 17k out of them. Solo I ran just a pound or maybe 2 on the front under max. Rear one pound I think under max. Drop Michelin a line and they will let you know for sure.
  23. Answer is: Penzon=If one up or two up. Loaded or unloaded, flat land, average speed and so it goes. For me overall average loaded 2 up is right at 165-175. But when I have the boss a couple hours is about all I can get before I start hearing noise.
  24. DOUGH I though it was going by by.
