Cassette Deck, why do you have a problem with MORE options?
top replied to LilBeaver's topic in Watering Hole
my 2009 RSV was not a Impulse Buy. I started looking for my next bike when I got my 2006 RSTD. Looked at Victory, Honda, HD. I had already decided that the RSV was not for me. I never considered Kawasaki. Had a couple of those, they just where not good fits for me. I was not going to buy until September 2011 when 2006 hit it's 5 year mark. However, after 4 years of looking at all the others the RSV just would not go away, no FI and cassette seemed to be non-important, just a good solid dependable bike became the issue. Got a terrific deal on the 2009, as the 2011's had been introduced, and a great trade on my 58000 mile RSTD. Most of my extra stuff from the RSTD fit the Venture, which also saved me money. So far I only have about 800 miles on the RSV, but love it, cassette and all. -
Hope all goes well.

I to wanted FI and other up to date items. Then I realized that the combination provided by Yamaha works. If it ain't broke don't fix it. And all those other features cost:mo money: -
I rode a 2006 RSTD for 4 years and 58,000 miles pretty much through all kinds of ridding. Great bike. Traded for a 2009 RSV early September. Ride it every day and love it. I enjoy the fairing and radio with trunk. As you see I put on a lot of miles so the RSV is really the best fit. I am 5'7" at 160lb and 62 years young.

I had this Mod on My 06 RSTD got red lens from kuryakn. However came accross this Manufacture and have used their product for about 3 yrs now. Just put one on my RSV. They are a little pricey however, if you want to be seen, i think this is the way to go. I use the integrated brake signal unit. http://WWW.Kriss.com

sounds to me like something got stuck. Same thing happened to me on a 1100 v-star after a long winters nap with e10 in tank.....a good cleaning resolved the problem and it was back to normal.....

My two cents worth. RSTD and RSV have weak electrical systems that require good management. I have Moto lights on mine and after about 20 min of running charging cannot keep up with usage. I usually shut down lights for about ten minutes until sytem recharges. On RSV i have gone to Custom dynamics LEDS and have resolved the problem.

Must be our locations, my Geico on new 2009 RSV with $4000.00 extras is $346 a year for full coverage, with a $500 deductible. I looked at progressive and they where higher so i stayed with geico.

I use pure gas only while ridding locally, however on the road sometimes e10 is the only gas available. I have had some bad experience with the E10, especially when storing for the winter.

I have the 550 and only time I have a problem is when sun is over my shoulder. Don't use the voice feature except in cage....After 3 yrs of use I wouldn't travel without it.

I had 16000 on set of Avon Venom X when they where changed and probably had more i could have put on them, however was going on long trip and didn't want to chance it. next set had 14000 on them when I traded bike. That was on a 2006 RSTD. I had a set of dunlaps with approx same millage. I just like the Avons because they seem to be quieter. I put Avons on my new 2009 venture, scrapped the bridgestones before i even rode it across the street. I'll let you know this summer how the Avon's hold up on the venture, although I'm hoping for the same result as the RSTD.

Trunk progress update
top replied to star4772's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
I rode an 06 rstd for four years and wanted a hard trunk, but never could find the best fit. Guess I just didn't look hard enough. I think this will look good after paint.
