  2. Isnt he the comedian who thought he:bang head: could outrun a 2005 GW with a portly rider on board at Vogel in 2005..........................I seem to remember him.......................................

  4. I guess you have never ridden with Sleeperhawk then have you............:rotfl:.......
  5. I really dont want anyone to make a special trip to pick this up, was hoping maybe someone would be going that way sometime soon, but I would be forever grateful if it did. This is the message I received from MasterGuns. Lewis, Yeah I saw that post. Even if someone would volunteer to meet me half way between here and Houston, I would be willing to trailer this motor that far for ya. Of course, nothing in return asked. Maybe Squidley would volunteer or one of his buds. One question; when is your son going to be in Houston. Herb Like I said timewise its not a big rush thing, if it can be done without putting anyone out. Brad, I will call you either today or tomorrow and we can talk about it. Thanks to everyone here.................
  6. As soon as I know if it can be moved down I will get back to you, thanks. Lewis
  7. I helped Muffinman with a transmission fix on Clay18's bike when we did the makeover on it........Only one way and you have to pull the engine and flip it over. I will be doing the same to mine very soon, don't want to do it, but it is the only thing that needs to be done and I would love to have second gear back, my bike made it to 82,000 mile before it started jumping out on a regular basis so I guess I was one of the luckier ones, some go a lot sooner but most start doing it around 60,000 or so.
  8. A member here is letting me have a 1986 1300 motor, It is located in the Ft. Worth, Tx. area. I was wondering if anyone would be in that area would be making a trip to Houston, time doesnt matter, I can get the motor picked up in the Houston area by my son who is over there on a regular basis. My only other option is to get it shipped, which would be quite expensive and that just isnt in the budget right now........I would also need a place to have it dropped in Houston, hopefully a member local to Houston could help me out in that respect...........I know we have quite a few there, even Cupcake might be able to help.
  9. I use AVG on 2 of my computers and Avast on the other 2, both have worked well for me, have detected viruses and malware and thwarted them all, have you been doing the updates on a regular basis, or do they do them automatically? I have mine set to auto update and have no problems......Have you tried booting to safe mode and running the antivirus?
  10. As most people know, Beer30 & Beer 24/7 own a company that makes bags and accessories for the military. They also make bags for the Mk I MkII, & 2nd Gens. These bags have been copied from the original bag produced by Yamaha, but they are made out of much better and durable material than the original, Gene also adds his own personal touch to make the bags desirable. Gene in the past has donated bags at Vogel, MD, and other events as door prizes, he also has provided our own Muffin man with various bags for his stint over in the Sandbox. Gene has graciously donated a set of bags to be auctioned off for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This auction is for whatever bike you own be it a Mk I, Mk II, or a 2nd Gen. The winner will be able to choose the color of his choice out of those that Gene has on and, he will also be willing to personalize them with embroidery, but that will be at the winners expense. These bags normally retail for around $80.00. 5 sill notify Gene of the winner and Gene will take it from there. I don' have any pictures available right now, but as soon as they are made available to me I will post them here and in the auction. I will have the auction posted by the end of the day. You can follow the link below to the auctions listed in the classifieds under St. Jude Auctions. Many thanks to Gene and Becky for not only by being great supporters of VR, but supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.:clap2: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds
  11. I just found out today one of my co-workers went down on his V-Rod when he hit some loose gravel and sand on the road, sent him off the side of the road and bike fell over on him trapping him under the bike, a couple of passer by stopped and helped him out from under the bike. He has some rash and a broken collar bone, this guy usually wears ATGATT, but it was so hot out he decided not to, might have fared a little better if he had. Damage to the bike was mostly cosmetic. Lets be careful out there and just because its hot out its no excuse to ride unprotected...........accidents are gonna happen but we can lessen the damage to ourselves if we wear ATGATT!!!!
  12. I dont think it left him, it just took a wrong turn...............................:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  13. I dont know what happened when I first posted the auctions, but there wasnt a place to bid, I have redone the auctions and you can now bid to your hearts content.................. :mo money:
  14. From the lack of visitors to the auctions, it doesnt look like everyone knows about the auctions............come on folks, we need to boost the funds for St. Jude this year, right now we are sitting on $800.00.............we have a long way to go to beat last years $3300.00. So if you want to bid just click on this link or go to classifieds under St. Jude Auctions. St. Jude Auctions
  15. Hope you get to feeling better, and get that bike fixed so we can go riding..........or you can come over and help me do a tranny fix on my 1st gen...........Dont pass whatever you have to Chelby or Lorie
  16. Ordered a part for my van, the last time I had to buy one it cost me over $70.00, this one only $11.63 and that included shipping, hope the quality is as good as the OEM. I will let everyone know after I receive it. Thanks for the tip.............
  17. Hey Swifty, wasnt that an old 2005 GW, that left you sitting in a cloud of dust at Vogel in 2006, I seem to remember you boasting you could outdo that thing and you had to eat some dust didnt you?????:bang head::stirthepot::stirthepot: QUOTE=Swifty;491765]OHHH dammit, quit talking up the price of this bike!! I've seen it. It's a piece of $hit, the owner never cleans it, he doesn't know dick about anything on it, he rides it like its a hondamatic, he lets anyone get out on it and abuse the crap out of it, he leaves it sit outside in the rain and dust, he buys a base model and he hasn't put any money into the thing, the bike likely rides like a '99 RSV... junk, junk, junk!!!
  18. I have a first year 07 V Star 1300, and I dont find it any noisier than my Venture, sure it has some noises, but what bike doesn't. and as for the friction zone, I have no problem finding it and using it, maybe his clutch needed adjustment..................:2cents: I've had a chance to ride my BIL's V-Star 1300 which mechanically is close to the 950. Very noisy! It was actually louder than my RSV but my bike is not that noisy. Something else I noticed. I was trying to do a friction zone turn and it was impossible the way the clutch was intermittently grabbing. You couldn't even ride at any kind of slow speed with the clutch engaged. I hope it isn't a common 950/1300 issue.
  19. I have a suggestion for you, more pictures of some of the cool stuff you put on it would help, the more you put up the more appealing it is to somone interested in it.......take some closeups of some of the mods you made...believe me it really helps, I always put tons of pics with all my ebay auctions................. Good luck with it, its a beauty!!!!!!!!
  20. Yeah Dan, but he is Hard to get along with, he just wont budge from that bench.............:rotfl:
  21. Charlene and I went for a day out today, packed a picnic lunch and went to FDR State Park, in Pine Mtn.,Ga. The weather was beautiful and the roads were very uncluttered. We picniced on Dowdell Knob, which is where FDR used to love to picnic, it was his favorite spot in the park. The view was beautiful and there were only a few people there. We took a few pics of the area and went on our way riding around the park, we came across a strange building on a side road, but we couldnt tell if it was a private residence or old church, it had an iron 7 foot tall spiked fence around it and had peacocks all over the place. We really couldnt tell what it was used for. After leaving there we headed back to Newnan for some desert at the local DQ.............then disaster struck...................DQ was closed........we were devastated, we were talking about it all the way back and it just ended our perfect day not so perfectly................. The only down side to the trip was that we did it in a 4 wheeled vehcile and not on the bike........but it still was great to get Charlene out to do something with all she has been through, many more of these types of weekends to come..................
  22. I hope to soon put a rear box on my V Star, I like the carrier you put it on, but I am not a fan of a rear box that resembles a GW box.........nothing against the GW, but that box just doesnt appeal to me............but all that matters is what you like, and if your pleased that what counts......of course I still havent found a box within reason that appeals to me.............
  23. I haven't lived in S. La. for 10 years now, but it breaks my heart to see the devastation that BP has brought upon not only my home state of La., but the entire Gulf Coast. Thanks for your help and for your companies participation. It will be a long time before everything is right. I know one thing for sure BP will not get any of my business ever, and I hope everyone else will do the same. There my rant is over.............
  24. Its either that or Mr Cheesecake...................... Has a nice ring to it, especially since you are married to the Cheesecake Queen.........................
