Lowell called me while Jamie and I were on our way back from Squids place. He sounded great and he said we needed to pray for rain or snow, then he would feel better about not being able to ride rather than sitting there watching all the riders out riding and him sitting it out for the next 2 weeks. He said he will be hitting the road and making rounds........so watch for the Ambassador in a town near you................I am excited to hear him feeling so well. Looking forward to seeing him.

Jamie and I arrived back in Newnan about 10:30 pm Sunday nite. I have to give a big thanks to Brad & Lonna for their great hospitality, and especially for Lonna's outstanding cheesecake....I never ate cheese cake I like, but I am hooked on Lonna's............they are outstanding. Only bad thing is we forgot the leftover's in the fridge......:crying:........ Meet some great guys and their wives, 3 Dons, still dont have them straight, Rock Hound from Amarillo, he bought Jamie's trailer, Gunboat, Ponch and his lovely petite wife Kathy, Kreggerdoodle, and I just dont plain remember them all because by the time we got to Brads I had been up since 4:30am Friday morning, and didnt get any sleep till about 10:30 Sat. nite...........I was toast. But we had a great time, and thanks to MasterGuns I got me a 1986 1300 engine and frame which Squidley picked up for me and stored in is just a little bit crowded garage. Thanks again Brad. Wish we could have stayed longer but we had to get back and help the wives at the big moving sale Jamie and Paula were having. I would post pics but I cant figure out how to download them from my phone.............:bang head: If you havent met the Houston gang you are missing out of some really fun people. If I was closer I would be there all the time..............

Prayers going up from the both of us here......... I went through the same thing with my mother, she suffered in silence for 5-6 years before my dad tricked her and took her to an ER. . . On the good news side, glad you are gainfully employed again, I know what thats like, I had to find a job at the ripe of old age of 55, after being self-employed for 18 years. Boy was that tough..

I might have one in my shop, I will try to locate it and get back on my success.

Phillips Motel and Cabins is located in Robbinsville, NC, a 20-30 minute ride to the Dragon, Cabins are great and the rates are good too. I have stayed there a couple of times and throughly enjoyed it. It is also very very close to the Skyway. http://phillipsmotelonline.com/

Jamie and I will be departing Newnan tonite to deliver the trailer Jamie sold to Rock Hound, we will be meeting up with him at Squidley's in Conroe, Tx. I will also be picking up the engine and frame that Squidley picked up for me up near Ft. Worth. We will be there around noon, so maybe if its 0k with Squidley we could maybe have a little meet and eat in the evening someplace near Brad's place. I sure we can find a good BBQ or TexMex to eat at...........

I know of at least one member here, and I believe it is Crash, who's son was treated at St. Jude when he was young, I believe he is now in his early or mid 20's. Maybe Crash might say a little something about his families experience with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. And they may be others, if so maybe they might also share? How about it Crash?

When I first joined Venturerider back in 2005, they were having their first Venture In ( Rally ), at Potato Creek. I decided I wanted to have a get-together similar to that, so I decided to have a small gathering at Vogel State Park, it was Called "Tail of the Dragon". Prior to the event I posted on here that I thought it would be a great idea to also make it a fundraiser for some worthy charity. So with help from other members here we took a poll as to what charity we wanted to support. St. Jude was the winner hands down, they are a great research hospital and all the monies they receive go 100% to treatment and research. So every year when my wife and I host Vogel, and there have been 4 so far, we have had auctions, raffles, pass the hat to raise money for St. Jude. Other members have also helped by raiseing money at their events. Some have been very successful with their events. One especially. comes to mind is the fundraiser Squidley set up with Sleeperhawks Mechanic, to get tattoos if they reached a certian goal, and they did.........they have the tats to prove it. To date we have raised over $10,500.00 to support St. Jude. That does not include this years effort. So thats how it started. Some others may want to add what they have done, like Snarley Bill. There are many people here who have made a lot of this possible. I was just the idea man, the great members here make it happen.

The bids are coming in, looking real good for these auctions................... Thanks to all...........REMEMBER, its for the KIDS!!!!!!

You are always losing something in route to a Venture activity..........lets see Vogel, your stator went out and you kept swapping batteries with La............Your bike fall over on the traliler going to Memphis last year, and now you loose your seat..............Hope you got your head screwed on tight, we wouldnt want you to loose that....................

The radio is all that I have, no mounting panel, but that can be picked up at Bike Bandit at a very reasonable price. If they have the af/fm it is plug and play, they might need an antenna if the one on their bike is just for am/fm. They would also need a push to talk button, I think those can be found on Ebay.
-
All the prices seem way to high $23,000.00+ for a Venture, $14,000+ for a V Star 1300 Tour, $12,899.00 for V Star 1100, and $12,099.00 for a V Star 950................what does that translate to in US currency? :mo money::mo money::mo money:

I have just put another auction up at St. Jude Auctions. It is for a CB Radio for a 1st Gen. It works very well, it came out of my very own bike. These are hard to come by on Ebay without having to pay an arm and a leg for them so here is your chance to pick one up very reasonably and help out the kids at at St. Jude.:mo money: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showcat.php?cat=15

You can check it, but you have to take the plastic cover just in front of the tank off,on the left side, then you will see the clutch cable , it has an adjuster in it....there is a rubber sleeve on the front end of it, move that toward the front of the bike. the cable has a hard plastic sleeve on it where it goes into the adjuster, if that sleeve is broken at the adjuster, change it before it breaks and leaves you stranded, I was lucky, it happened both times in my drive as I was about to go for a ride. I found a replacement cable for it for $27.00, if I have to order it, plus shipping I would expect. I checked other Yama dealers and they want as much as $67.00 for them. The prices go all over the place. Its a poor design and you will see what I mean when you look at yours.

You da man Eck...........Thanks I will hold off ordering till I hear from you......... Thanks again, Lewis

And that is an understatement............Was leaving to go to church on my V Star 1300, I cleaned it up a little bit before I left, got ready for church, backed the bike out of the garage, closed and locked the garage door, got back onthe bike pulled in clutch, dropped into first, a faint pop the bike lurched and dies. Clutch cable broke at the adjustment fitting under the tank. This is the second cable that has broken, the first one broke in the same place at 12,000 miles and Yamaha warrantied it.........no 10,000 miles later it does it again. Okay no biggey, I get the Venture out and put the Star away. Venture needs gas, so I stop at a gas station I use very rarely on my way to church. Pump the gas while sitting on the bike holding it upright so I get a full tank..............got distracted for a moment and all of a sudden I feel wettnes and hear liquiid spilling on the ground.........the auto shout off didnt work as it should now I have gas all over the tank cover the engine but worst of all, I am soaked in gas and it feels like someone lit a fire to big Jim and the twins......:crying:.......OUCH Wipe all the gas off the bike and soak up the little inside the filler area, and it feels like a volcano has gone off in my nether reigons.................Its a five mile ride back to the house and I dont know if I can make it without stopping at the first pond I see and jump in..........Call the fire department....................PLEASE. Get home and cant get the clothes off fast enuff, jump into a cold shower and cool my guys off....................WHEW......AAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Luckily no permanet damage done to the area, but it sure felt like I was going to be out of commisson for a while.............Didnt really want to go to the hospital and be treated for burns down there.................. Made it to church 45 minutes late, went on our lunch ride and had a really nice day that I thought was going to be shot for me............. So. How was your day................??
