1. My favorite car was the very first brand new car I bought, a 1971 Dodge Charger. Great car, not a muscle car, had a 318, but it was the cat's meow for me............sadly I almost totaled it 6 months later........wrapping it around a light pole in the median of the interstate.
2. Happy birthday Mini..........hope you have a great day. Lewis & Charlene
3. I know you have had several surgeries, but just wondering, how many original parts you still have left..............I bet its a tight race between you and Charlene, she has almost as much metal in her as bone. Glad everything went well.
4. Thanks for making me feel so bad about missing again..............I wanted to get back so bad I could taste it but alas it didn't happen...........But I enjoyed seeing them very much.
5. I knew my ears were burning for some reason, but that happens a lot...............especially when Charlene talks about me......................:shock3:
6. I lost mine, but it wasn't at MD 2011..........................Wish it had been there, then I wouldn't have missed everything and everybody
7. The original movie "The Thing" was one of James Arness first films, he was the star of the movie..........He was the Thing that was found frozen in the ice in Antartica............That one was done in the 50's, not the remake with Kurt Russell.
8. For anyone going to MD and wanting a Crusin' for St. Jude t-shirt, I have shipped some up to Don for him to distribute as he see's fit.
9. 8/15/11  2 Days till Vogel!!! :dancefool: Vogel Poll............ - VentureRider.Org Vogel Registration 2011.doc
10. Looks like the cooking over there agrees with the Muffinman, or is that all his body armor making him look ...................FAT:stirthepot: Welcome home Muffin, sorry I wont get to see you at MD........
11. Check with Beer30 he is know to do some leatherwork. He has handtooled all the leather accessories on his 2nd gen. and dome other things as well, his work is first rate. Besides being a member also a good friend.
12. Getting a little nervous as I have actually received only 4 registrations by mail, and the raffle ticket sales are very slow also. I haven't even sold enuff tickets to cover the prizes..........Maybe its the economy or the Intl. Rally holding things back, but last Vogel the Intl was the prior week or two ahead, and attendance was very good, even had some folks do both events. Maybe people are getting tired of Vogel, it is the longest running VentureRider event. I had really high hopes that we could raise enuff money for Vogel to beat those North Alabama Road Riders in their fund raising event but now I have my doubts. This is really making me think hard about future events. They take a lot of planning and a lot of mine and Charlene's personal time, and its actually the only vacation we take together, at least we travel there together, once its on we are apart for most of the day while we are on rides. She has been my steadfast supporter for something she thought I was foolish in undertaking in the beginning. I just hope that once MD is over and the Intl is over that I will have a flurry of activity on registrations and ticket sales. I would still like to add a GPS to the raffle. Also door prizes from my preferred Vendors aren't coming through as they usually do...........the economy again, why give it away when we can sell it............its all about the bottom line for most corporations today. Well that my vent for today, I will get off my:soapbox:
13. To get your registration in for Vogel................. To buy your raffle tickets for Vogel................. To make your reservations for Vogel camp sites, cabins, motel......... And its never to late to click on the link below.......... :Venture:Tail of the Dragon@Vogel V:Venture:
14. I will not be selling more that 300 tickets, so get em while they last........
15. I just removed us from the list, no vac. days left except for Vogel, hope I will see a lot of the same faces there................ Don does an awesome job...:dancefool:.......Thanks Don for being Da Man!!!!
16. Not more that 2 minutes after I made this post, I got a call from Todd. He is doing ok now but in January his 91 year old father passed away. I dont know how many people know much about Todds dad. After his annual March ride 2 years ago, the weather was really bad, so I spent the night at Todds house and he told me a little about his dad, and I was amazed to find out that his dad piloted Corsairs during WWII in the S. Pacific. Todd had told me a few stories that his dad passed down to him about his serving as a Marine fighter pilot, and he was truly an amazing and talented pilot. After leaving the Marines he became an Episcapalian priest and was living in Venice, Fla. Todd seems to be doing ok now, but I know it was pretty hard on him, he was very close to him. His father was buried in Venice, Fla. with military honors, a full Colonel even flew in from the west coast to honor him and make the Flag presentation. Todd said there was well over 400 people in attendance, a tribute to the person his dad was.
17. Anybody heard or seen Todd lately, I have tried calling him several times but all I get is his voice mail and no return call, havent seen him on here in some time.............I hope Bubba hasnt beaten him up again for raggin on him...........
18. Eck you may not be the prettiest cheerleader but you sure are the best one I have...............:stirthepot:.
19. Just a little reminder that I still have plenty of parts left............:Venture::Venture:
20. At least it wasn't your own bike you dropped and hurt, I am sure it wasn't the first time someone dropped it or any of their bikes before, wasn't the first and won't be the last for them..... Hope your recovery is swift and full.
21. As some of you know Eck donated some 1st Gen and 2nd Gen parts to me when he moved to S.C., he suggested I use them as door prizes or fund raising items for St. Jude Children's Hospital. I choose to do the later, but I still have quite a few parts left over, so here is what I have decided to do, along with another idea to help out all you folks who have all those old OEM and custom parts laying around after you finished Blinging out your ride. If you are coming to Vogel and would like to rid yourself of all those parts you will never need or use again, bring them to Vogel as a donation for St. Jude and I will have a table or two set up to display all the parts providing I dont get way too many to display, now what I am talking about is parts you can carry on your bike or in your trailer, not engines or anything way to big or heavy. If someone sees something they need or would like to have, all they need to do is make a small donation (No Minimum) to St. Jude. Now in the event that there are parts left over and I am sure there will be, you can take them back with you or if you want, I will load them up in my vehicle and take them back to my shop and hold them and put up a list of parts available and post it for everyone to see, and if they see something they want, and for a small donation plus shipping and off it goes to the donor. In return for those donating parts I still have a bunch of Crusin' for St. Jude t-shirts available and will give them to the donors. And remember this is all for the kids at St. Jude and we will be making another ride in either late Sept. or early Oct. to deliver the money to St. Jude in Memphis, Tn. So far since the very first Vogel in 2005, we have raised and donated over $12,000.00 to St. Jude. Our max donation one year was over $3200.00 and that was from an effort put forth by Squidley and Sleeperhawks Mechanic. My thanks to all those that have supported our efforts to help the Kids at St. Jude. There are many and I wish I could name everyone of you but that would not be possible, so Thanks and God :clap2:Bless each and every one of you.:clap2:
22. I haven't Decided if I am going to MD or not, but if I do decide to go, it will be a last minute thing. Your schedule sounds good to me for getting there and back, but I will be camping like I did the last time. I will let you know as soon as I can, but will likely be a last minute thing. I too hope to have my 1st Gen up and running but if not I will be on the V Star again.
23. Cairo is where my parents are from, I used to spend my summers there back in the 50's & 60's,, it wasnt nearly as bad then, but now its a ghost town, I still have a cousin in a rest home there. I used to have bunches of relatives living there but they all moved away as Cario was dying. Last time I was there it almost made me cry to see how bad things really are there. They used to have great BBQ there the one I liked best was MAC's, it was right across the street from my uncles house, the other was Shimwells BBQ. The owners of both were friend of my parents, and my dad worked at Mac's before he and my mom married. Mac's is gone now, dont know about Shimwells...............
24. I know it is still early, but by this time I normally have quite a few registrations for Vogel. As of right now I only have 6 registrations and the sales of the raffle tickets are very low. Raffle tickets are $10.00 ea. or 3 @ $25.00. So far we have a Dell D620 Laptop, 2 4 GB MP3/Video players, and I am hoping to add a GPS and a digital camera to that. You do not need to be at Vogel to win............... The poll is not showing very promising numbers either, so if you do plan on coming please go to the poll. Remember, all the money we raise by raffles, t-shirt, patch sales, and by any other means goes to St. Jude Children's Hospital. If you want to order a shirt or a patch just drop me a pm and I will add you to the list. The shirts should be somewhere between $18.00 to $20.00 and the patches are $5.00. If you register for Vogel each registration get a shirt and a patch. For more info and registration form go the the link below. :Venture:Tail of the Dragon V
