  3. Wish I could make it Don, but had my outing for the month with the St. Jude event. A friend from work is going and I cant stand that I cant attend, be sure to post plenty of pics...........:bang head:
  4. That really gives a new meaning to the phrase "GOING UP IN SMOKE"
  5. Sorta glad I didnt go on any of your rides at Vogel, the way you ride vs the way I ride, I would have been left behind really early in the ride.............nothing against the way you ride, I like a spirited ride too, but usually by myself when I do it......dont like to ride over my head to keep up.......and the roads around N. Ga. really beg to be riden with spirit..........and the way I ride I get excellent mileage out of my tires, about 14-15,000 on the rear and over 20 on the front. .
  6. Our weekend started being fun after Missy and Dana showed up from NC, they were riding with us to St. Jude. That night we threw some steaks on the grill and had a great relaxing meal. We sat up and talked VR and bikes till about 11:30, even though we had to be up at 3:00 am to leave for Memphis. We didnt take the bikes but still had a great time. When we arrived at the Flying J, there were already 4 bikes waiting for us at 10:30 am, and among them was this huge trike, it used to be a VW powered trike, but he wanted a bigger engine so he stretched the frame and body and installed a Chevy 302 ci engine in it. Shortly thereafter they started arriving, p/u trucks, suv's, bikes, cars, and a couple of 2 seat convertibles. The NARR group had 25 1/2 people and we had 24 1/2 people, Jason Murphy is a member of both so we split him. You know VR members aren't the only ones with some crazies, they have their share for such a small group. We had a great time with them. Hope they make it again next year. We had a great lunch at Denny's then rode over to St. Jude with 21 bikes and all those cages. It was a pretty impressive sight all those bikes and cages with their flashers going, nobody got lost getting there. The folks a St. Jude were ready for us with 4 tour guides and a big check which they filled in with the info for the pics. I presented them with some t shirts from Vogel and they like them so much, they might use some of the design on some of their shirts. The tour was great, and we even got to meet a young patient and have our pic taken with him. After the tour a bunch of us went down to Tunica a made some donations to Mississippi's economy via a couple of casino's. The weather was absolutely beautiful and nothing could spoil our mood even loosing at the casino's didnt bother us. This was the most special trip to St. Jude, it ranks right up there with the ride in 2007, when Mean Dog rode with us. Folks, if you have never been to a VR event, this is one you really, really need to attend, you will come away with a tear in your eye and a lump in your throat. This place is special and so are the people that work there and volunteer there. Next year we will likely tour the Ronald McDonald house....... Thanks to everyone, who participated!!!!! ;
  7. Funny thing, I noticed that too, but it was before I took the pics...........:rotfl:
  8. Here of some pics from the 2011 Mean Dog/St. Jude Memorial Ride.

  10. I thought everyone would get a great feeling about what we do for the kids at St. Jude. I posted a picture of part of our group with a young patient there, and this is what his mother posted on facebook. Misty Dawn Shields I really wish that we were able to thank every single person that has every donated money to St.Jude. I feel each one, no how much they gave, has had a roll in saving Brayden's life. I have looked back on the EOB's from our insurance company and within the past year his treatmeant has cost probably close to half a million dollars or more. We could have never came up with that on our own. Everytime the boys see donors visiting the hospital they want to take pictures with them because to us they are Heros and Heroines (even angels)! Superman has nothng on St.Jude Donors!!!! Thank you all! Like · · 4 hours ago ·
  11. You are right Jason, I was attempting to stir the pot, but no one bit...........It was a great event and I am very proud of everyone that stepped up and made this a success, and that includes the NARR group!:clap2::clap2:
  12. We finally made it home, but we had to leave most of our money at the casino's.........
  13. We lost both parts of the challenge from NARR group of Alabama, they collected more money than we did and they are only a group of about 36-38 members, we also lost out on the challenge as to who would have the most members there.........they had 2 more than we did and our membership way far out numbers theirs..........shame on us............ Now the real winners were the Kids at St. Jude, we raised a total of $4,420.00, by far exceeding our previous best. The NARR group raised $6,033.59, making the total donation to St. Jude $10,453.59!!!!!!! We met our goal of 10,000.00. and in losing still came away feeling like winners........but the real winners are the kids and the researchers at St. Jude. We also had a chance to interact with a very special patient that wanted to have his picture taken with us. His name is Brayden and is 3 years old and was undergoing treatment while we were there. I will post only 1 picture tonite and its the picture of Brayden and his brother.......this was a special time for us to meet and grant his wish of having his picture taken.
  14. Dana and Missy arrived yesterday afternoon from Durham, N.C. It is now 3:00 am in Newnan Ga. and we are getting ready to leave for Memphis, Tn. for the Mean Dog/St. Jude Memorial Ride. We will be meeting up with other VR members and members of the NARR for a meet and eat and ride to St. Jude to make our donation. We are very close to the $3600.00 mark, and I know it will be added to nce we get there, and NARR is well above that I am sure, but if we dont hit the $10,000.00 mark we will be close to it. Thanks to everyone who has donated, bid on articles, helped out at Vogel, bought raffle tickets, and be a cheerleader for this effort. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
  15. You might want to check out Phillips Motel, also in Robinsville, they have rooms and cabins for rent, the cabins are a small house, some with Jacquizzi in them, most are two bedrooms and some have covered parking attached. I have stayed there twice, very biker friendly and affordable.
  16. Looks like weather is going to be perfect for everyones ride Sat. to Memphis, Tn. It may be a little cool in the morning but perfect temps for daytime riding. Hope to see a lot of you there, its a trip that will leave a lasting impression on you after you see the facility ( St. Jude Children's Research Hospital). :Venture::Venture::Venture:

  21. What Dan said.............Sea Foam them first, may save you some time and trouble of rebuilding them.........I like Sea Foam so much I buy it by the gallon....................
  22. Take care of yourself and stay off the bike untill you get your sight back.........which I know you will do, I know how much riding means to you. We will be praying for you......
  23. Being that the ride to St. Jude is coming up this weekend, I guess it wouldn't hurt to let everyone know where we stand on our fundraising efforts. Right now we are a few dollars shy of $3600.00. I know some members are bringing donations that they have collected and hopefully we will collect some more before we head out for the ride from Denny's to go to the hospital. If anyone wants to make a donation its still not to late to make one via paypal (partin_guy@yahoo.com) or even to make one to the Mean Dog Tribute page.This beats all the donations we have made in previous years and we have been doing this since 2005. Thanks to everyone who has helped in this effort. Its nice to know we have so many caring people on this site, and some have had relatives , sons or daughters that have been treated there. http://stj.convio.net/site/TR/Events/Tribute?px=1618382&pg=fund&fr_id=1341
