My Father took a bad fall
DragonRider replied to Flyinfool's topic in Inspirational, Motivational, Prayer Requests, Etc.
Prayers and good thoughts going up for your dad and your family. Similar thing happened to my father in law at 93. Falls at any age above 60 can be devastating. Sounds like he is in good hands, the Dr.'s and our Heavenly Father. -
Forthose of you who met Brayden Shields and had your picture taken with him, I just read this post of facebook by his mom, Misty, please keep Brayden and his entire family in your prayers. Misty Dawn Shields Not good news an old tumor is growing on the outter side of his right eye and a new tumor is growing on the inner side of the same eye... his nose got burnt by the freezing wand and his eye is swollen shut. We come back 3 weeks....

I just learned this and thought I would pass it along to others who may not know........... "The Meaning of the Flag Draped Coffin" http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=2&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Meaning of Flag Draped Coffin All Americans should be given this lesson. Those who think that America is an arrogant nation should really reconsider that thought. Our founding fathers used GOD's word and teachings to establish our Great Nation and I think it's high time Americans get re-educated about this Nation's history. Pass it along and be proud of the country we live in and even more proud of those who serve to protect our 'GOD GIVEN' rights and freedoms. I hope you take the time to read this ... To understand what the flag draped coffin really means .... Here is how to understand the flag that laid upon it and is surrendered to so many widows and widowers. Do you know that at military funerals, the 21-gun salute stands for the sum of the numbers in the year 1776? http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=3&fid=Inbox&inline=1 Have you ever noticed the honor guard pays meticulous attention to correctly folding the United States of America Flag 13 times? You probably thought it was to symbolize the original 13 colonies, but we learn something new every day! The 1st fold of the flag is a symbol of life. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=4&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 2nd fold is a symbol of the belief in eternal life. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=5&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 3rd fold is made in honor and remembrance of the veterans departing the ranks who gave a portion of their lives for the defense of the country to attain peace throughout the world. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=6&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 4th fold represents the weaker nature, for as American citizens trusting in God, it is to Him we turn in times of peace as well as in time of war for His divine guidance. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=7&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 5th fold is a tribute to the country, for in the words of Stephen Decatur, 'Our Country, in dealing with other countries, may she always be right; but it is still our country, right or wrong.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=8&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 6th fold is for where people's hearts lie. It is with their heart that they pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. The 7th fold is a tribute to its Armed Forces, for it is through the Armed Forces that they protect their country and their flag against all her enemies, whether they be found within or without the boundaries of their republic. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=9&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 8th fold is a tribute to the one who entered into the valley of the shadow of death, that we might see the light of day. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=10&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 9th fold is a tribute to womanhood, and Mothers. For it has been through their faith, their love, loyalty and devotion that the character of the men and women who have made this country great has been molded. The 10th fold is a tribute to the father, for he, too, has given his sons and daughters for the defense of their country since they were first born. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=11&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 11th fold represents the lower portion of the seal of King David and King Solomon and glorifies in the Hebrews eyes, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=12&fid=Inbox&inline=1 The 12th fold represents an emblem of eternity and glorifies, in the Christians eyes, God the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. The 13th fold, or when the flag is completely folded, the stars are uppermost reminding them of their Nations motto, 'In God We Trust.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=13&fid=Inbox&inline=1 After the flag is completely folded and tucked in, it takes on the appearance of a cocked hat, ever reminding us of the soldiers who served under General George Washington, and the Sailors and Marines who served under Captain John Paul Jones, who were followed by their comrades and shipmates in the Armed Forces of the United States, preserving for them the rights, privileges and freedoms they enjoy today. There are some traditions and ways of doing things that have deep meaning. In the future, you'll see flags folded and now you will know why. Share this with the children you love and all others who love what is referred to, the symbol of 'Liberty and Freedom.' http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/ya/download?mid=1%5f19902%5fAERFv9EAAW4CTwDHAAu%2bexbKZkA&pid=14&fid=Inbox&inline=1 MAYBE THE SUPREME COURT SHOULD READ THIS EXPLANATION BEFORE THEY RENDER THEIR DECISION ON THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE. FORWARD IT; MAYBE SOMEONE WITH THE NECESSARY POWER, OR POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL INFLUENCE, WILL GET IT TO THEM. IN THE MEANTIME, MAY GOD PROTECT US ALWAYS. ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

I gots some good stuff, little too much to mention, besides this brain of mine cant remember it all. A few things are spending time with both of my kids and their kids, at home on Christmas day and now we are in S. Louisiana with my son and his family. The wife and I got us a new Canon EOS Rebel T3 camera, which is a fantastic camera, I got a couple of shirts in my favorite college colors (LSU), some cologne, candy, and too much more to mention, but best of all the love of my family at this special time of year.

For some reason, and I can't explain it, I tend to believe that you can do it better than most, maybe not as good as these guys, for example take a look at Susan Boyle..........who would have ever thought she had such a fantastic voice..........take a look at Yammer Dan, is he in that same category?:rotfl:

Its not that Brown Sugar is showing its age, its because you now own it, you have that affect on every bike you own..........:rotfl:

I too had some of the same symptons, but after all the blood tests it was found that I had low T.(testosterone). I was put on a regiment of T supplement, didn't notice any immediate results, but after about a month, I started noticing I was sleeping better, had more energy, more stamina, and other things improved also. So if you are suffering from any symptoms like Don or myself suffered, listen to your wife and get checked, who knows what you could catch just in time...........In my case the wife sorta wished it would have been something else, if you get my drift...........:cool10: I had been trying some over the counter supplements from the local health food store, but their claims didn't hold water, so don't waste your time trying that first, they were more expensive than the script, and insurance didn't cover it.( from the store). I also didn't know that Testosterone is a controlled substance..............

Do you cringe when you hear some artist sing their rendition of the National Anthem, they try to give it their personal touch, but to me they mutilate our treasured Anthem. I wish everyone could just come close to singing it with pride and dignity like these young men do..........Thanks to Ken Derrett for sending this to me. There is still some hope for us........just when you think you have seen it all, something comes along to change your mind, most the times bad, but every now and then such as this case, its surprisingly good. This is the season that brings out the good in most of us...............

Looks like I will be going back to work mid Jan. Received notification from the ins. co, that I was approved till then. Cant believe I am actually going to enjoy getting back to work...............Recovery this time was a little quicker than when I had the same surgery on my right hand in 2005, the incision was only 1/2 the size this time as compared to last time, still having some discomfort when I try to use it to pick things up or support my weight on it. Hopefully that will all be gone by the time I go back to work.

A friend of mine posted this on facebook, so I thought all of us old geezers here would remember what we did, before going green came into being. The Green Thing In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment. The woman apologized to him and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day." The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment." He was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day. Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled. But we didn't have the green thing back in our day. We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks. But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day. Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day. Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana. In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us. When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap. Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then. We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water. We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull. But we didn't have the green thing back then. Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service. We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint. But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?

I had some tests on my ears today about 1 1/2 hours worth of very involved testing, due to the vertigo and dizziness I have been experiencing for the past 1 1/2 months. They believe there is a problem with a nerve that connects my ear to my brain that is not functioning all the time, he explained it as a short circuit in laymans terms, now I have to have an MRI of my ear to get a more detailed image of whats going on. It seems like I have been going to the Dr.'s for one thing or another for the past 3-4 months, next week or sometime before Xmas I have to go have an injection into my neck to try to alleviate the pain and discomfort I have be experiencing lately................when will it end.............???? But at least I have plenty of time since I am off on disability for the next 3-5 weeks. I guess it comes with getting to be a senior citizen.

I had the experience of having to do that when I crossed into Canada, luckily I remembered it was there, I had forgotten to take it out of the van before I left home. I declared it and had a most pleasurable experience with the customs officers when I had to turn it over to them for the duration of my stay. They told me some very interesting stories about gun ownership in Canada, and complimented me on my choice of handgun. On picking it up on my way out had nothing but compliments for the Canadian Custom agents. Wish all of our LEO's on this side of the border would be as pleasant as they were. Not knocking all LEO's on this side of the border, but some could use some schooling from their northern counterparts.
