  1. Got all their LP's CD',s copied all the CD's to save the originals, even starting converting the LP's to CD and MP3 to get that special sound that vinyl has...........they are in every vehicle I have and are great travel music, my two grown kids even like them, one thing I notice, whenever we go to one of their concerts the mix is about 50/50...........young, and old and gray!!!! At one concert I was less than 5 feet from the band and one of them handed me a pic, which I gave to my son............wish I would have kept it, I have had other items given to me by famous band members, but for some reason I gave them to my kids, one was a set of drumsticks from the drummer of the Wallflowers, Jakob Dylans band, we were standing at the edge of the stage, I was an old whited headed fart standing there and he kept eyeing me wondering what in the world is that old guy doing there, so after the set he walked up to me and handed me the drumsticks. I thought that was the coolest thing that could ever happen to me at a concert, by the way they opened for Cheryl Crow and I got to shake her hand also...........awesome concert, that was back in 1998 if memory serves me right. I only got to go because my wife bailed at the last minute so I went with my kids.
  2. Been missing your posts and you too............don't you ever stop working on your bikes, they are supposed to be ridden. All joking aside, how are you doing? We really missed having you guys at Vogel. Are you finally fully retired from a paying job, so that you can devote all your time to your man-cave? You really need to post some pics, it isn't that hard to do, we hear about all the projects but don't see many pics, and you know what they say, This post is useless without pics!!! I hope you still have your 1300. I still have mine and made a few changes, added the bat-wing fairing, have 2 windshields for it a 7 inch and a 12 inch for colder temps, replaced the leather covered bags with hard bags with built in LED running lights, added some LED's to make the bike more noticeable at night, nothing gaudy, but really light up the bike from from the reflections on all the chrome on the engine. Keep in touch and look forward to seeing some pics and seeing you and Linda again. Happy New Year.
  3. Yep, prices are sky high, last concert I went to was Kansas, but got lucky, a lady at our church works at the venue and got about 20 free tickets and the wife and I lucked out, never saw them in concert before, but they sounded just like they did, a couple of the members were to young to be original, but the sound was there. The last concert I went to and tickets had to be bought (gift from daughter) was the Moody Blues, all the orginal members with the exception of Micheal Pinder, they were my all time favorite, saw them at least 7 times, and loved every one of the shows, in fact I have a story about the first show, but its to long to go into here, The tickets were $79.00 each, and the venue was Chastain Park, you could bring your own food, drink and tables to set up in front of your seats, there was about 6-7 feet between you and the row ahead and behind you, so you didnt get knocked in the head every time someone behind you got up to go someplace. Don't know when I will go back to another, but at the prices they are demanding now, looks doubtful.

  11. The battery on my V Star 1300 finally died at age of 4 years and 3 months, pretty good lifespan in my thingking, went to Wallyworld as I normally do to buy a replacement battery, normally in the $50.-$60 dollar range...........wrong, they had 2 batteries, one was 59, the other was 86.00, and these are not Yusa, they were Walmart brand.............last battery I bought for the Venture was aroun 46.00. Shopped around, no luck , so I went to a scooter shop here in Newnan, he was $4.00 cheaper for the Yusa that the Yamaha dealer, when I told him the price difference, he said cant let that happen, he said he would let me have the Yusa for 79.95. So I have found a shop that will beat the big guys prices, I didnt expect him to come down by $30.00. I will have it by Thursday, and I can start riding again after not being on the bike since Thanksgiving due to my surgery.
  12. I know your heart aches for those that you have lost, and to have lost so many of your loved ones to this insidious disease is too much for anyone to bear, my intention was not to shame anyone or bring back any bad memories, but to bring to the forefront how much help we and everyone else also who supports St. Jude, The Cancer Society, The Susan Kohman Foundation and all the other entities that are helping in finding a cure for cancer. I have lost both my parents, my wife lost her biological mother and her stepmother, & her brother in law to cancer and several other of her family members and several of our friends are currently fighting that battle. I lost 2 of my oldest friends from high school, I just want to do all I can to help find a cure to this disease in my lifetime so others don't have to suffer this disease, and to help the kids that are afflicted lead a normal life that is not possible when they have Cancer. Dick, I apologize if this post made you uncomfortable, that was not my intention. Our prayers go out for you for your losses.
  13. My team failed to show up and the coach failed to try to remedy that by putting his other QB in, not saying we could have come back, but it least I would have tried. But on the bright side LSU still has the better record. Anain, my hats off to the Tide, I hate to say it but Saban outcoached Miles. There will always be next year.
  14. I am so sorry to hear of your loss and of your sisters injuries. I will keep you and her in our prayers. Yes we all have our battles and no one is more important than any other, the main thing is to keep fighting for whats good for your cause.

  16. I am not a big Tebow fan, but he gets a pat o the back from me for a pinpoint pass to a wide open receiver, great play call on first down, nothing to lose and everything to win. Congrats to the Broncos. They are my favorite AFC team. Now if they make it to the SB and the Saints make it, can he perform like Drew.........It would be a very interesting matchup to say the least, but my heart and soul lies with my old hometown team, The New Orleans Saints, formely also know as the Aints in my younger days!!!
  17. I get an email every day, they go out around 1:00 am every morning, I have bought a couple of things, day before I bought the little lady a 32 pc set of storage containers for 20.00 that normally retail for 79.00. They have some very good deals, so I am checking them out daily.

I was hoping more members would have read this article if I posted it someplace else besides the watering hole, but out of all the members we have only 112 have done so,which I find disheartening. I may catch some flak from the moderators and the boss, but I feel very strongly about this as those who know me personally know. 12 year old girl looses battle to cancer...........

  25. I know some of you here on VR may get tired of my postings about St. Jude and Cancer Research. But it is stories like this that break my heart and make my determination even stronger to raise funds to help find a cure for cancer. Small donations from large groups such as ours make a difference. I am not asking for donations, I am pleading for help for all the young cancer victims out there. You dont have to make your donations to me, you can make them via the Mean Dog Tribute page, you can become a partner in Hope at the St. Jude Web site. Its not about what I can do, its about what we all can do to make a difference. Please read this story and tell me it cant happen to you or your loved ones or a friend, cause it happens every day, every hour, every minute to someone's loved one. I know, it has happened to me, and just about every member here losing someone to cancer or someone battling cancer. "NEGU" WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!! RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California girl who became a nationally recognized face of child cancer with a blog that chronicled her fight against brain tumors has died. Jessica Joy Rees was 12 years old. Jessica's family announced her death on her Facebook page, stating that her 10-month battle with brain cancer ended Thursday. Tens of thousands of people responded by posting updates to the page in a show of support that includes "likes" and prayers. By Friday afternoon the outpouring surpassed Jessica's goal to get one "like" for each of the estimated 50,000 American children with cancer. The Orange County seventh-grader, called "Jessie" by family and friends, began her blog and Facebook page after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor in March. A second tumor was discovered in September. While some of her posts discussed her struggles as she underwent radiation and chemotherapy treatments, others urged readers in dozens of countries to support pediatric cancer research and to pray for other children with the illness. She always signed her posts with the acronym "NEGU" (NEE'-goo), short for "never ever give up." Also, she and her parents started The NEGU Foundation, a nonprofit organization to raise awareness of pediatric cancer, support sufferers and raise money for research. The foundation sold and provided thousands of "JoyJars" stuffed with candy and toys to sick children. More than 3,000 were sold and distributed in 27 states last year, according to the NEGU website. After her diagnosis, Rancho Santa Margarita youngster received tickets to "American Idol" and arrived with signs that read "NEGU Casey" to support contestant Casey Abrams, the Orange County Register (http://bit.ly/yJwyF3) reported. Co-host Ryan Seacrest also allowed her to announce country singer, and eventual winner, Scott McCreery. Jessica wrote on Facebook that her mission was "to encourage kids fighting cancer to Never Ever Give Up by spreading hope, joy and love. A cheerful heart is great medicine." A celebration service was scheduled for Wednesday at the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, where her father, Erik Rees, is a pastor.
