  1. We will be there Fri nite, but not in time to eat, and for Sat, BBQ for us.............
  2. Sat the motor will be going back into the 83, hopefully with luck we might have it fired up and running before the end of the day. Still a lot of work ahead. This makes 3 out of the last 4 weeks that we, me and K-Rider have been working on it. We went riding last weekend for a change of pace. Pics will follow to show our progress.
  3. Wish I hadnt seen those pics, that engine looks great, dont really care for the red on the carbs, but man that engine looks sharp..........I dont have the bikini covers, so my engine wont be showing so much. Gary is right, these bikes have a lot of life left in them and with proper care and a little elbow grease, they can me made to look like new....... Oh and K-Rider, better be wearing them gloves I gave you before you handle my pretty cases, only clean hands gonna touch em:stickpoke:
  4. I get to keep my gall bladder, turns out to be some kinda bug, bacterial infection in my digestive tract giving me all this greif...........going on some anti-biotics for a week or so.
  5. I do vaguely remember that problem you had.........glad it got better for you, right now I am feeling pretty good, but havent eaten much yet.......but when I do it, watch out. As for the o rings, I think I will take the one back and get a total refund on them if I can, they will probably want to charge me a restocking fee, I know I will get at least a full refund on one...........lesson learned, there are other sources for some parts instead of getting raped at the stealers!!!!!! Its surprising what you can find at Lowe's, Home Depot, and Ace, that will work. At the price they were charging me for 1, I could have bought 18 at Ace.:bang head:
  6. I think they look pretty good myself......cant wait to get the engine back in the frame and fire her up. All that goes well, some plastic still needs a little touch, I have the new and improved fuse box from Skydoc, new plugs, might be riding it in a couple of weeks.
  7. Here are the engine cases painted black. I am leaving the rest of the engine original. The cases will show more that the engine anyway so no need it spending more time painting. I am not quite finished with the chrome covers, need to fill in the painted areas and polish some more. Note one says 1300, the cover from my 83 had the chrome peeling so this one was much better. 8. Water cooled engines have a long life due to the closer tolerances in the engine compared to air or oil cooled engines. I do believe that if the Venture 4 cyl. engine was air/oil cooled, there wouldnt be as many on the road with the high mileages that get put on them.
  9. To Lonna and Squids for cheesecake.
  10. Its a waiting game now, stayed home from work today so I dont have another flare up while I am working, as long as they dont put me in the hospital over the weekend the work day is still on.............keeping my fingers crossed for a quick end to this ad Venture.......... Going to stray a little from this post. I also picked up the rest of my gaskets and o rings from the stealer ( and I mean that in all honesty), one of the o rings didnt come in for the water pipe from the pump to the thermostat, so I told them not to reorder, I stopped by my local Ace Hardware store and found the exact same o rings for .$.59 each, the dealer was charging me $16.93 for 2, so I will be going back for a refund on the missing one. That is outrageous for 2 small o rings. The larger o ring for the thermostat was only $3.00 and the water pump gasket was $6.75...........really dont understand how they price things the way they do, but from now on, if its not something that has to come from Yamaha, I will be going to Ace for them.
  11. He is very lucky he wasn't separated from his cell phone in the crash. Charlene and I will be praying for his quick recovery, It looks like the bike probably got more damage being dragged up the slope. It just provers ATGATT pays off. He is a very lucky young man......... Almost didn't recognize you with your eye patch, hope things are going well for you also.
  12. I had to bail out of work today, been having pain and discomfort under my ribcage. It has been going on for 3-4 days and getting worse, I didnt think it was my heart, I just had a stress test a couple of months ago and everything was fine, Dr. seems to believe its my gall bladder, sent me for an ultra sound. Dont have the results yet, but I hope they get back to me quickly, Every time if flares up it gets worse and last longer.......and I had a work day scheduled to work on the 83, we were gonna put the motor back in the frame and start putting her back in one piece, now it may be on hold for a little while.........sometimes life really SUCKS!!!!
  13. Prayers going up for her and her extended family.................
  14. a very nice group of 1st gen riders stop and pick me up, dust me of, then tell me If I want to ride a Harley clone, I need to loose parts and leak oil!!!!
  15. Good story to start the day, but dang it, my keyboard got all wet...........
  16. I just finished painting mine black, they look good sitting there. Wont be putting them back on till the engine is in the frame, I will take some pictures of them tomorrow after they are good and dry. I have to say, I didnt think about going silver at all, it looks very good even though the engine is still original color as mine will be, original but much cleaner, cant believe how much oil and grease that all that plastic hid.
  17. Just wondering if anyone here has painted all their side covers on the motor when the redid their bike or engine repair. I have seen some painted various colors but I am talking flat black here. If you have, and took pictures of them I would love to see them, I have painted mine with high heat matt black, havent put them back on yet, but I am debating on whether to leave them flat black or go with some clear coat over them to give them a little shine and help protect the paint better.
  18. But I ain't buying it and I turn it off everytime I see it come on......
  19. Right off their web site...........here are your tires. Well the first time I pulled it up it showed tires for your bike, then when I went back, no fitment..........go figure
  20. Yep, they are really digging deep into the stupidity pool on that one Randy.
  21. You mean that wasnt you in the rear view mirror so small I could only make out your headlight..........and then that Al. state trooper cut you off, thought he would never pass me........I guess he was waiting for me to fly off and he could write another out of state ticket..............
  22. Was it Dave Arnold or Dave77459, both from Texas, one from Sugarland and the other from Tyler. Whoever it is they are in our prayers and glad it wasn't more serious that it could have been. Be careful out there, they are trying to get us all!!
  23. The St. Jude auctions are now posted. T-shirts sizes Med, Lg, 2XL, 3XL, 4XL. St.Jude Pins, St. Jude Hats. Shipping is $5.00 with the exception of the Pin only auctions, shipping for those will be $1.00, Please remember to include your shirt size and shipping address when you submit your paypal payment. Also mark your payment as a donation or gift, that way St. Jude gets all the donation. And we will be riding to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tn. in late Sept. or early Oct. to make our donation in person. It wont be as large as last years donation, but we will have one to make. It is the ride I look forward to the most every year whether I go on the bike or in the van. Its always great seeing all the faces of our family getting together for such a wonderful cause, and you don't have to make a donation to make the ride, being there is showing your support also. I challenge each and every one of our members to show up for this ride, a big turnout would be fantastic. Thanks again to all my cheerleaders and all the great supporters we have here at VR. St. Jude Auctions
  24. I am glad to see that I am not the only one that is affected by stress that way, I am finally eating, still a slight discomfort after eating but it fades slowly till the next time I eat, the ride was just what the Dr. ordered.............
  25. Give the gift that keeps on giving...............at least to the male riders...........:cool10:.
