Well the auctions will be over in a little over a day..........out of the 11 auctions, only 3 are bid on, and only 1 is over $0.25. Thats right 25 cents.........I guess everyone has all the St. Jude items they need...........The way things are going this year with the fund raising due to the economy, price of gas and so forth and so forth, I may me mailing the donation in instead of making the ride to St. Jude. Maybe I need to come up with something special, one of a kind item to auction, but that will mean spending money to make money and to me at this time its a really big gamble. I do want to thank everyone who has donated and participated in the St. Jude fundraisers.

You offer such a great product with a great price, ease of installation, and some were complaining about the quality of fuses!!!........I can understand Earl's dilemma over choosing fuses, when I went to purchase the fuses, I couldn't believe how many different choices there were for them, they had low profile, standard fuses, fuses that lit up when they were good, the choices were endless....and the prices were all over the place:mo money:..........so I think you did the right thing by omitting them, I didn't mind buying them, now I have spares and a tester that came with the kit, it only cost me $14.00 for 40 fuses and the tester, now I wont have to scurry when and if a fuse blows, they will be in the bike where they can be handy. Thanks again Earl, great product. It just goes to show, you can please some of the people some of the time, but you can't please all the people all the time. Now after having to pull the carbs off to change where the YICS hoses were hooked up, I noticed when I hooked the cables back up for the throttle that the pull cable wasn't moving, sure enough, I open the throttle grip and it had snapped at the mount. You got any upgrade kits for those..........the costs just keep going up on this project, but I can't complain, I have free help, free tech help here and the main parts for the project were donated and I have a ton of extra parts just in case I need them, the donor motor was an 86, and lots of the parts are interchangeable with the 83. Thanks to everyone here on the forum and my volunteer helpers this bike is gonna be really nice when I finish it. It should be good for a few thousand miles......

You did a damn fine job of it two, just to let you know, we had your back, and we thought you might need us, but from 100 feet away, they would have kicked your but good before we got there...................:rotfl::rotfl:

I replaced that mess that used to be my fuse box on the 83. It sure was easy, the kit is well put together and very easy to install with Skydoc's instructions........... I couldnt wait to turn the key on and see the electrical system come back to life...............nothing happened, I checked all the wiring again, did exactly as he stated in the instructions...........everything is right. Thought maybe the battery was dead so I hooked the charger up to it and then tried the key again...........nothing. Stood there scratching my head, then the light went on...........You gotta put fuses in it before it will work.:bang head:............man did I feel like a total idiot..........gotta pick up the fuses today on the way home from work.

Found the two wires, and I have some vacuum caps around here someplace, Eck gave them to me, just got to find them.

Yesterday I got ambitous after I got home from work, and went to working on the Venture out in the shop. I have ow got all the engine covers in place, shift linkage installed, carbs mounted and hooked up to the cables. One question, I am getting rid of the Yics chamber. I didnt have any vacum caps to put on the tubes coming out of the engine. I just the rubber hoses down and used them to cap of the tubes by connecting them to the one next to it. I read a post here somewhere where someone else did the same thing, my question is should the be connected to the cyl beside it or the opposing cyl. or does it really matter. Also I cant find the wire leads where the neutral swithch and the oil pressure/level wire plugs in to the system, where can I find the leads that they plug into..................I have looked and looked but cant find them and dont remember where they should be.:confused24:

Finally got my wife to ride the 85 VR with me.
DragonRider replied to spitfire9's topic in Watering Hole
My wife loves to ride also, when we moved up to the 83 Venture, she loved the big seat, backrest and the music and intercom. When I bought the V Star 1300 to ride while I restored the paint and now the tranny, she didnt ride much, mostly due to back, hip, neck problems which are now rectified, she rode twice on the V Star, but promises to try to get back to riding the Venture with me.......I cant wait till I get both my ladies back on the road again ( wife, and 1 st Gen). -
Congratulations, I am hoping to retire in a couple of years, if I last that long. Hope you enjoy your retirement!!

If they were to post it at your place of employment, I dont think there is much you can do, but for them to post it in a public place, I would think they would need a release signed by you. That my worth.

What makes this a great place is we can give and take and not get all bent out of shape, and you are right, everybody has the right to voice their opinion, and thats what I did, maybe I should not have used the word "Harsh", if any offense was taken by Spear, I apologize, that was not my intent. I just didn't think his statements were appropriate due to the nature of the post. I also agree with you about the church goer statement, that doesn't make one a better rider just because they go to church, but it does show some of his character. I would like to see the accident report to find out what actually did cause the accident, a heart attack while riding or failure to ride safely. -
Looking good Dan, looks like there will be plenty of space for all those 1st Gens, and then some................

I didn't read that it said he was driving aggressive at the time of the accident, it did state that he had health issues with his heart, and was revived on the scene by a paramedic, he could have suffered a heart attack causing the accident, I think your statements were a little harsh concerning the accident. Our prayers go out to his family and friends. -
I will sleep very well tonite, we started at 9:30 this morning and I came back into the house at 8:00 pm..........I knelt down to get something out of the fridge, and I almost couldn't stand up I was so stiff. I didn't feel that bad when I came in, but after I showered, sat down for a while I started stiffening up. I will sleep well tonite, taking the day off tomorrow from working on the bike, gonna sit back and watch the NASCAR race at on tv.

Another Saturday working on the bike, we got the engine back in, since there was only 2 of us it took some extra time to get it in, we had a few memory lapses, loosing tools, nuts, bolts, you name it we misplace it at one time or another. Got the clutch working after a little difficulty, but finally got it bled out and working. A couple of nuts and hex screws got misplaced and it took some time searching, so we finally gave up and I saw K-Rider off, I went back out to the shop and low and behold I picked up a coffee cup and there they were with a bunch of other bolts I will probably be looking for later. So I continued working getting the motor all bolted back in and all the frame rails attached. Still had some daylight left so I figured I would start installing the newly painted side cases. Got all but one installed and trying to download the pics. It was taking me so long to really make progress on the 1st Gen, I thought for sure you would have your garage built and using it before I completed my job, now its looking like that may not be true. Now about your snake encounter, I am surrounded by woods and overgrowth, but I haven't seen 1 snake in the 10 years we have been in this house, let alone find one in my home. Now when Charlene and I live in Shreveport, La, way, way back in the day, 1977, we rented an apartment outside of Shreveport. One morning I heard an ear piercing scream, ran to the scream and found Charlene standing on the coffee table I think yelling snake, snake!! :shock3: She pointed to the hallway leading to the bath room and there on the floor was a baby snake, at first it looked like one of those rubber snakes, but then it started moving. Now I don't have a fear of snakes, I have handled many of them in my youth, that's another story for another time, so I picked it up, placed it in an empty mayo jar and went straight to the managers office and gave her an unsolicited gift.............Told her what happened, and she sent maint. over to check the place real good, because usually where there is one there are others. Nothing to find. It turned out to be a baby rattler, but I couldn't tell that because it hadnt formed any rattlers yet. Not long after we moved to rattlesnake country.........TEXAS!!!!

That is the plan Dano..........hopefully everything will come together pretty easy, the hard part is the re-install............all downhill from there.
