Bring your carb tune with you when you come.............
-
If the light is red when you pull up to it, all you have to do is kill your engine, and restart it, that generates a larger magnetic field that just your bike does, this will in turn make the light cycle............works every time for me.

Just checked the gas mileage on the just rebuilt Venture, she got 47 mpg and this was before the diaphragm change and 2 of the 4 were bad. Cant wait to check this tankful. Hoping to get over 50. And the carbs haven't even been synced yet. And my wife thinks I ought to sell it because its so old, hell compared to me its very young, its only 29 years old. Thanks Yamaha for building such a quality bike.

So they gave you a loner that didn't belong to them, someone else's bike, and they want you to take responsibility for the damages.......don't think so, you did the right thing by filing with your insurance co, so that's who they have to deal with. You should get your bike and not have to worry about the wing, their mistake was giving you someone else's bike as a loaner. To top it off, if it was my wing, I would go after them for loaning my bike out, they owe him, not you owe them. I would contact an attorney if you don't get your bike back.

I cant remember whose picture or what it was, but I had a similar problem a while back...Cant remember what I did to clear it up.

Go ahead and do it, you wont spend a lot of time doing it, the hard part was getting those 4 tamper proof screws out, but with a little tap with the hammer and a pair of vice grips they came right out.........I replaced all of the screws with allen head screws...........next time much easier.

Hey the last 2 years we did it in the cage cause the wife cant ride that far, so take the cage, many do, you will still have a ball and see a great place.

I received the carb diaphragms yesterday from Sirus, best purchase so far for the old girl. Took about 1 1/2 hour to change them out. Now I have to find someone with a carb tune so we can do that. Took her for a spin and I have to say, I had forgotten how good these bikes run. I actually thought it was running pretty good, but I was wrong, glad I decided to keep her. I had the most enjoyable ride so far today, only meant to go around the block but went around the county...........I was totally blown away, its like having a new bike all over again.

Great pics Peggy, you made me feel ever worse that I already felt for not being there........your a woman after my own heart.........one who love motorcycles and loves riding, Charlene can do without, so she thinks I should too, well at least I should only own one, her theory is I can only ride one at a time...........LOL, we carry spare tires right, so since we cant carry a spare on the bike, we need that spare bike...RIGHT!!!!!! But I digress, really nice pics.....Thanks. And Peggy is an experienced tent construction expert, she helped me with my first time tent construction at Skids.

I have been so busy with the 1st Gen, I have negelected the St. Jude auctions, I hope to start mailing them out today, please forgive me for my lack of motivation for getting this done.

Very nice bike Alan, I am also thinking of downsizing, but I will keep the Venture, I have had it too long and put too much blood sweat and tears into her, and I dont think anyone could appreciate her the way I do, so I will be selling the V Star 1300, dont need 2 touring cruisers, and will be getting something similar, really want a Kawi Concours, but will see whats available for what cash I have.

The great folks at St. Jude called me yesterday and we set up a date for our annual ride to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The date is Oct. 6, 2012. We will meet at our usual place which is the Flying J Truck Stop in W. Memphis, Ark. We will meet there for 11:00 am that Sat. morning. We will have lunch there, then proceed over to St. Jude where they will be waiting for us to take a tour of the hospital and/or The Ronald McDonald House. If we have enough participation we will split the groups and tour the facility of your choice. I need to know how many members attending want to tour the hospital or the RM house. Here is the link to the poll to make your selection. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=688718#post688718 FLying J Truck Stop/Pilot 3400 Service Loop RD. 1-40 Exit 280/I-55 Exit 4 W. Having two Yammers, that's down right scary, I didnt realize that Earl had such a strong resemblance to Yammer, and we shared a tent at MD 2009. Surely wished I could have been there but something always gets in the way, and I cant blame it one the 1st Gen not being ready.............there's always next year!!!!

No wonder you didn't say anything last night, It is actually carrying less weight now than when I first got her 8 years ago.................and Charlene saying you are so laid back and quiet...........she hasn't seen your corruption since joining VR.
-
I am thinking I didn't get them bled good enough, did it by myself, not the easiest thing to do especially when doing the front, Charlene is going to help me later and see if I don't see some improvement, I know its not the pads, they don't have more than 10,000 miles on them.
-
Jeff you are oh so right about that...........dont ask me how I know...........!!!

Many thanks and a tip of the helmet to Bob for donating a rear master brake cylinder for my 83 Venture, what I wasn't expecting was something that looked like it came straight from the factory, if Bob hadnt told me it was rebuilt, I would have thought it was brand spanking new, I now have brakes, not the greatest, but have rear brakes again, next step will be the stainless steel brake lines front and back, that will be a great improvement, its not 100% yet but its getting there. Still waiting on the carb diaphragms from Sirius, they should be here sometime next week. Once again the members here are fantastic, couldnt ask for a nicer bunch of people, always willing to help out another. Thanks again Bob, since you wont let me pay you for it, I will be making a donation to the St. Jude fund.

Rebuilding and Modding my 83
DragonRider replied to icebrrg3rd's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Now your making me wish I had done the same to my engine, yours looks fantastic, I only painted the side engine casings, I should have had them powder coated, but that didnt pop into this old brain till I was almost finished.........Good job, I know the feeling of getting it running again, mine sat for over a year, until a friend at work got me motivated and helped me 3 weekends straight, couldnt have done it without him..........He is a member and co-worker also.............. Congratulations on a job well done!!!!:clap2::thumbsup: -
Sorry for your loss, getting old is no fun for some folks, some do it gracefully, others not so. Our prayers go out to your family at this time, I know exactly what your going through, I was in the same boat many years ago. My wife also stepped up to help with my parents when their health was failing. You must have married a keeper and a great one at that, I was lucky to do the same. God Bless, Lewis & Charlene

What a way to start the weekend reading this post & seeing pictures of MD starting without me again...........dang, next year no stopping me........of course I said that the last two years since my first MD in 2009. Hope everyone arrives safe and sound and has a great time, which I know they will the Nelson's know how to treat family and friends, members and non-members alike.
