  1. Is he going over to the dark side.....................:shock3:
  2. Just what I have been looking for, I have been eyeing some sport touring bikes,the Concours isnt comfortable for me, to far over the tank and too much weight on my hands and wrist, I would love to test drive it and see how it fits me.................
  3. I am jealous, I could retire today, could have retired last Sept, but the wife said NO!!! Congratulations................
  4. Ask how many people have been helped and see how many responses you get, and I would be the first cause I have been helped more times than I can remember,and I have been a member since 2005. Don is one of the most caring, generous, friendly person you could ever want to meet, and he still puts up with this bunch of loonies. I have had the pleasure of knowing Don since 2005 when he came to Vogel/Tail of the Dragon, and he has always been there whenever I or anyone else needed help. I have always come away feeling like I am one of his best friends and I bet everyone else feels the same.............I hope Don gets rich enough to retire from this gang, he deserves it!!!
  5. I am amazed at how well my 83 runs now with the 86 gears in it, I know they are the same ratios as the 83, but with that and the diaphragms all replaced it is like riding a new bike, the power is amazing, I forgot how good it feels to run through all the gears and not have to worry about it popping out of second..........after about a week went on a nice ride with Jamie and Gene aka K-Rider and opened her up and hit 100 amazingly quick..........took my breath away, it almost feels like it has a turbo there is a very noticeable kick around 4500 RPM when you drop the hammer........Its not a hard job to do, just time comsuming and you need a lot of help, which I got from friends and members..........I would do it again if I had to. I used all the gears out of the 86 when I did mine. Just make sure you follow all the steps in dis-assembly and reassembly so you wont be doing double work, Don't ask me how I know, but I do!!
  6. If Dan has the right one, I just sent him some pipes, so if he wants to part with it and if he is sure its an 83, I will wait on Dan, if its not right I will get back to you. Appreciated everyones help.
  7. Thats it Dan...that is the 83............
  8. I am looking for something similar, very sharp bike............good luck with it.
  9. The main difference is that the 83 does not have the clock in the bottom screen and the is just one LCD screen where as the others have the clock in them and have 2 LCD screens. Hope that helps.
  10. Wow Mini, glad she didnt get Jeffs looks.......she is beautiful!!!! And I voted.

  15. It is accessed after removing the windshield and dash cover.........thanks. Here is the link telling you how to remove it. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=33328
  16. Does anyone have a spare computer board for the dash display for an 83, I think mine is bad and I am not to good with a soldering gun..........would like to just replace it and be done with it.........I know mine has been resoldered at least 2 times by the Muffin in the past, but he aint around...........
  17. Hope you had a wonderful birthday Rick..........what did you give yourself this year............. :Happy Birthday::Happy Birthday::Happy Birthday::group cheers::group cheers::group cheers::Crazy_139::Crazy_139::Crazy_139::beer::beer::beer::wow::wow::wow:
  18. I tried it first with the 2.2k hooked it to the pos acces term.......no go, found the old line that went into the battery and soldered it to the line so both were in line, which someone said worked for them, and still no fix. As for the elec connectors for the brake, I unplugged them and and re did them and still no joy on the brake fluid indicator......... These are the only two problems not resolved on the bike since I put it back together. Never had a problem with the brake fluid indicator, but did have intermittent problems with the battery fluid light, maybe the cpu needs re-soldering?
  19. Sorry to hear things havent been so good at the home front, hope things start getting better for you and your family.........pardon our ribbing, I am sure we all didnt realize there was a very good reason for you not logging many miles. You and your family are in our prayers........and take some time for yourself...........you deserve it buddy, and isnt retirement just around the corner!!!
  20. First problem is the low brake fluid indicator is lit on my dash, checked both reservoirs and they are full, now can they be too full and make it light up, second problem is I replaceD the battery with an AGM battery, therefore the battery level light is on, I bought the 2.2k resistor and placed it inline along with the one that is already there, connected it to the acc. terminal on the fuse block............still lit........whats gives?
  21. You can get hurt that way..........................:bang head:
  22. I have had the Venture back on the road for a little over 2 weeks and have ridden it everyday back and forth to work and a nice long ride the first weekend it was fixed, so I have put about 400-500 miles on it it that short period of time......Skid, your letting us down, seems you like your jeep better,so might as well sell the midnight to someone who really appreciates it.........Dan, dont know about you, you got too many bikes that dont run and you cant even get one of them running for any lenght of time..........shame on both of you, not a good standard to be setting!!! Skid, does this mean you will be bring the jeep and the bike to Vogel next year?????
  23. Jamie and I put Avons on our bikes when we changed tire brands back in 2007, we both bought the Venom, Jamie's ride was a 2005 G/W, mine 83 Venture, weight difference a little over 125 lbs. I ran my rear tire at Avons max pressure listed on the tire, which was either 48 or 50 lbs, Jamie ran his at the G/W suggest rear tire pressure. We both did a lot of 2 up riding, his tire only lasted about 6-7 thousand miles, mine lasted a little over 17 thousand. Others here have said the same thing, on these heavy bikes you need to run max pressure in the tire or they will wear incredibly fast, and that gets expensive.........
