  1. If you still have the original fuse box with the glass fuses, replace it with the upgraded fuse box that Skydoc17 sells, it a great fix and cleans up all the extra wiring and uses the small spade type fuses. Its easy to install and fixes all your electrial problems stemming from that old antique fuse block. I did it and it only took about 45 mins to do, but go out and buy the fuses before it gets there........they dont come with the kit. Not knocking Earl on that, it keeps the costs down. He has adds in the classified section for several of his upgrades for the 1st gens and all are of fantastic quality and reasonably priced.
  2. That is one more thing that makes the 1st Gen the better bike, everything mutes when you talk on the IC on the 1st Gen........................:stirthepot:
  3. Did you disconnect the breather hose from the engine under the carbs, if you didnt get it back on good and clamped tight it could be coming from there, the hose should be connected and the hose connected to the breather box.
  4. The venture is a heavy bike, you need to run the max air pressure as listed on the sidewall of the tire, on my Venom it was 50 on the rear and I ran 45 in the front, that made my bike handle much better. These engines are built to run at high rpm, I never get out of 4th gear until at least 60. 5th gear is more an overdrive. Up your pressures in your tires and take it for a spin then let us know how it feels.
  5. What year is your bike, I have an extra oil pan from the motor that Masterguns donated to me, its yours for the shipping if it will fit. It is from an 86.
  6. You know we have the tooth fairy, fairy god mothers, now we have the Chrome Fairy...............:rotfl:
  7. Mine dont harbor pets or exotic animals........I have had to call code enforcement on a couple of mine........one didnt want to pay a garbage collection service and threw their garbage bags in the back yard in the woods.........was atrracting wild animals we dont care for around here, they handled that, fined the renter and the owner, owner evicted then sold the house, now very nice people there, neighbor across the street running a business out of his residence, another renter, has a gigantic roll off dumpster in his front yard, there were two, down to one, replaced the other with an a-frame storage building in the front yard, he cleans out foreclosed homes and brings all that junk home keeps what he sells in the building and the rest goes in the dumpster, has junk all over the yard............doesnt help an already low home valuation when you got that as an eye sore in the neighborhood..............they were given one week to clean it up or get cited every day they dont, guess what, 5 days gone by and no change..........wish I was home when they come by to check on him.................sounds like some of Yammers neighbors have moved into the neighborhood:bang head::bang head:
  8. Have a great B/Day Buddy..............have you reached the age where you starting having birthdays in reverse....................:rotfl:
  9. How much you asking for the 85? I have a friend who might be interested in a project bike, as long as the project isnt too big!

  13. Dave, its Sat. Oct, 6, 2012. Myself and whoever else wants to join me, will be leaving Newnan around 4:00 am Sat. morning. That puts us in Memphis around 11:00/11:30.
  14. Prayers going up for this young lady............
  15. I have a dear old friend that I have known since high school, and he needs a little help from the big man above. He has suffered two strokes in the last 10 years, the first he recovered from, the second not so good, left side of his body is practically useless, cant walk without a cane or and only for short distances, uses a wheelchair most of the time, he is now in Tulane Hospital in New Orleans, has an infection in his good foot, (he is also diabetic) and might loose his big toe or worse his leg up to mid-calf. He has always been the strong silent type, but when I talked to him 2 nights ago after he was admitted to the hospital, he broke down and could hardly speak, he is normally not the emotional type and this really tore me up. Please offer up some prayer for him, he isnt a church person or religious at all, but I know that doesnt matter to the man above. He is the last of my life long friends that I have left and this hurts me as much as having it happen to family.........
  16. Nascar is indeed using fuel injection and a special blend of gas/ethanol, they started using it this year, 2012. They are not obtaining the gas mileage they were getting when using carbs, they are still having some problems with fuel pressure and it is getting more reliable as time goes on.........I also believe F! and Indy car have been using it for some years now.
  17. Forgot to post this pic I took on our Newnan M&E. This little guys name is Lucky!!!
  18. Several times when I have pulled over to use the cell phone or make some kind of adjustment, I have had people stop, cars, trucks, and bikes. There are still some good people out there no matter what they ride or drive.
  19. It took a gentle push down on the frame of the carbs, like you suggested to Todd. That did the trick. Thanks again Brad. Any chance you can make it to Memphis for the St. Jude ride on Oct 6, love to see you guys there.
  20. It was a great surprise to see 86er and Bubba again. Gene got to meet Bubba and came away laughing and not believing what he was seeing. After we got back to my house we had some really cold adult beverage. After the bikes cooled down we went down and put the finishing touch on my freshly finished 83, Todd had his carb tune with him, so we just had to sync the carbs. Now she runs even sweeter than before, we had to call in the Calvary because we couldnt get them to match side to side. Tried calling the Muffin but no luck there, we finally got hold of Squidley and he gave us a few tips on how to correct it. Brad came through for us and we finished it up. Thanks Todd and Squidley, another payoff for my big $12.00 investment. Todd ended up spending the night and we talked and drank till Todd started falling asleep . ANother testimony to the worth of this fantastic place, THANKS DON!!!!!
  21. Like you said, better the car than the bike..........I had an extremely close call a few weeks ago, 1 sec either way I would have reacted to it and crashed or hit it........too dang close for me, I have had them close but this was closeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Your wife is unhappy:crying:, but thats what insurance is for.
