1. I cleaned it up a little, did some searching, in doing so I found a spare key under one of the side covers, and speaking of side covers, found 4 broken tabs, on the fix list, added seafoam to the tank, runs like crap on heavy concentration of sea foam......let it soak and try it again tomorrow, will be changing the plugs, check the diaphrams and replace if neccessary. I took it for about a 6 mile ride, it will take some getting used to. Going to replace the fuse box, pulled out 1 fuse and one of the spades that holds it in broke.........on the fix list too. Here are some pics just after the wash, still need to polish and clean up some of the alum and chrome. And the lovely couple who delivered the bike decked out in their St. Jude shirts..............
2. Looks like we will be tour both facilities, thats what they want to do, so waiting to hear back from them. But its all a go for Aug. 6. Thanks Patty for helping cheerlead this event. I am sure we will have more show than just those that respond. Regardless its about what we are giving to the Kids at St. Jude, but its a heck of a lot of fun when we show up in mass.................
3. The bike was better than I expected, but it needs a little TLC before I ride it any, its got some electrical gremlins, needs some seafoam, and a good massage to bring out the beauty in this trike.
4. It was here when I got home from work, they beat me by about 5 minutes, they were standing on the drive waiting for Charlene to open the door, she didnt hear them, she was busy cleaning up the house for our special guest, No not the bike, its a resident now..........I cant thank Squid and Sweet Nothing enuff..........and Hummingbird gets a big thanks too, I am still pinching myself the bike is better than the pictures................cant belive it. Brad and Lonna took some pics of me on it so I am sure you all will see them soon........ This group of VR is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5. Here is the link to the link for St. Jude ride.............Donations can be made to me at Paypal at this email. partinguy@yahoo.com http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=72590&highlight=jude
6. Very nice Dick, I bet your glad you didnt pass on this one...............Nice catch.........and purty too.................
7. It looks like it could be an aftermarket antenna mount for a 1st Gen.......just a guess on my part.
8. It only took Yammy 7 years to make some very nice changes to the V Star 1300, I bought the 2007 when it first came out, I really like what they have done to it, mine is similar, I added the fairing, hard bags. But I like this one better. Add a tourpak to it and its the new Venture!!!!
9. Post some pics as soon as you can, I hope mine doesnt get evicted for a prettier girl...LOL
10. Blame on it on me................I know you have been eyeing that 93 of mine you got sitting there............LOL
11. When I replaced my tranny in my 83, I completely removed the YICS system. When you do that you can either block off the ports or interconnect them, the left ones are connected together with a y connector so you can connect the vacum sensor hose to it, the right side just connect to each other, my bike seems to run much better than before and still getting great gas mileage. It was just one less thing to put back and have to take off later when it goes bad, and I didnt even check mine for leaks, it could have been leaking already.
12. You left off one choice..............NEVER! I agree with Jactana this is one nice bike, I would buy this if I could afford it.
13. I have only seen one like that before, and it was on the ugly bike that Muffin bought from a member here in Ga. I dont remember it working to well, I was thinking at the time that it was an aftermarket CB for the Venture.
14. Pipe connecting the water pump to the cooling system.
15. There still are lots of good parts out there even some old stock OEM. You are right about one thing, some people want way to much for old used parts, but I would rather my bike be factory original equip. than aftermarket. I would rather have my 83 than a new 2nd Gen.
16. Check out the V Star 1300 Deluxe, factory fairing with GPS, XM Radio, Bluetooth, built in, and hard bags. Now that is a nice bike.
17. Ebay.............. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=yamaha+venture+cb+radio&_sacat=10063&_odkw=yamaha+venture&_osacat=10063
18. Thanks Dan..........................
19. Its getting better, I can put some weight on it, going to the orthopedist tomorrow, still have a problem rotating the ankle. I was able to put my work boot on, and walked on it a little, but not sure I can go 9 hours in them. I will find out tomorrow.
20. Ok, down for 2 Lg.
21. I just received a ton of St. Jude shirts from Jason Murphy that they had left over. Its to late to start auctions since we are going to St. Jude on the 6th of next month. What I would like to do is offer them up for donations. The shipping would be Priority Mail and the cost of that is $5.00. That will cover as many as I can stuff in the box, which is normally 3-4. Instead of starting a bidding war on them, a $10.00 donation per shirt plus a $5.00 for shipping up to 4 shirts would greatly increase our donation to St. Jude. So you can donate by paypal or you can snail mail a personal check to me. Please note, if you use paypal I need shirt sizes and your mailing address. If you pay by check place a note with your sizes in the envelope.. If you plan on going to Memphis on Oct 6, you can pm me and let me know how many and what sizes and I will set them aside for you and get your donation there. Thanks to everyone for supporting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Paypal addy is partin_guy@yahoo.com Snail mail is ........ Lewis Cramer 160 Teal Pl. Newnan, Ga. 30263
22. Dan, thanks for not setting her loose on me...............LOL Congrats on the new computer, my newest computer that I bought new is at least 6 years old. I just upgrade the memory and its better than ever. Having a son in law that gets his hands on all his companies used computers, they change them every year, I should be good for a long time. I just hate changing computers, it takes a while to get everything on them that I want. I also just added a 2 TB external hd, and I can use it to backup all my computers and laptops, plus if there ever is an emergency and we have to leave the house in a big hurry, like fire or something really bad, all I have to do is grab the external hd and run. everything is on it.
23. Thanks for the info, still praying for Mary and the boys..............
24. Its not completely apart, I split the cases and removed the tranny and swapped it into my 83 since it was shot. As far as I know it was a running engine. Oil pump is out, in fact it is still sitting on my work bench. What parts do you need, I am sure it wont take much to pull them out if they are still in the engine, I know the gears on the pump are good, I had the oil pump out to pull the tranny.
