I may live in Atlanta/Newnan, but I thought you knew I was from Nawlins...............You know how we feel about the Dirty Birds..................
-
Bob, I think the Dirty Birds are going down..............Its going to be San Fran going to New Orleans from the NFC. I think the AFC is a littler harder to call, but I think the Pats have the edge. \

Prayers and good thoughts going up for you. Hope all goes well.

I lived in NOLA for 55 years and never really found any good BBQ there. Seafood is great and hardly anybody messes that up. I will be getting off of a cruise ship on Super Bowl Sunday. Enjoy your visit.

I can recommend two bakeries in New Orleans that excell in making the best King Cakes around. One is Haydel's bakery in Jefferson, La. My wife lived around the corner from them all of her life. They will ship anywhere in the world. The other is Gambino's located in New Orleans. Home | Haydel's Bakery New Orleans LA http://www.gambinos.com/shop/default.php

For my daughter that is, 2 weeks ago she was pinned upon completeing her RN Nursing school. Next step was taking the state exam to get her license. Well she took it last Thursday, and she was sure she flunked it, she was devastated. She got an email from the state on Sat. morning that she passed the test and was issued her RN License. Charlene and I are as proud as we can be. 2 1/2 years ago she decided she wanted to become a nurse. She is a devoted mother to our grandsons and she juggled being a mom, wife and student while maintaining a 3.8 gpa, and received the Deans Leadership Award. This Thursday she will be graduating and its all over. Now all she has to do is find a job, and there are no shortage of nursing jobs around here. I know she is going to be an outstanding nurse, and this coming from a little girl who couldnt stand the sight of blood as a kid.

Last cruise I purchased one of those things you hang around your neck to keep my ID and cruise card in, it worked great until I went out on the foredeck above the bridge and the wind caught it and out of the corner of my eye I saw something go flying over the railing inot the water, I look down at my feet and there is my drivers license, the cruise card went for a swim. We now have water tight containers for carrying cash and cards in, the work really good. I take water and soft drinks also, and the chocolate buffet was way too rich for me last time............

Charlene and I, Wingman aka Jamie, Paula, several cousins and their spouses will be departing form NOLA on a 7 day Caribbean cruise. This is our second cruise and looking forward to it. We are doing it differently this time, only booking one excursion, the rest we will do freestyle on our own. Four ports, Cozumel, Costa Maya, Belize, and Roatan. If you have any suggestions on what to do or see while we are freestyling, please feel free to let us know. Last cruise was on Carvinal, this one is on the Norwegian Star. :dancefool: Have heard lots of good things about Norwegian.

I pulled the radio and cassette deck out of the trike a few weeks ago and at first glance I thought someone had put insulation in there, but after looking closer it turned out to be a nest of some sort, I guess it got in through the vent in the front of the fairing. I pulled so much chewed up cloth and paper it was really packed in there really good. Looked under the other side of the fairing but nothing there.

Not one that I really wanted to join. About 2 weeks ago I started waking up in the middle of the night with a raging headache that was felt mostly behind the eyes. Went to the Dr. today because I couldnt shake this mornings headache, had to miss work, so went to the Dr. and now I have to take another med for high blood pressure. I am hoping the Dr. gets it right with the meds the first time, everyone I know has to take a couple of different ones before they hit on the right one. Starting out on Diovan, hope it works, cant take the headaches any longer.

Clearing out 1st gen parts
DragonRider replied to Squidley's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
Brad, I could use a front fender for my 83, its got a chunk missing out of the side of it. I will need to repaint to match so color not a concern. You said you might also have a cover for the class unit under the rear box and a headlight adjustment knob for the trike. Let me know how much. -
May need som Phoenix AZ help. Possible ripoff

I once had a 9mm, but it got confiscated by Murphy, NC pd on a bogus stop. I want to replace it now but I want another similar handgun but am undecided on what caliber, should I go with the 9, .40 cal or larger maybe .45 or .50 cal. I still have 2 other semi autos but both are 380, they just dont have the stopping power or the capacity. I don't want a revolver, not enough capacity, that I know. So looking for some input from some other handgun owners. And I will be getting my CC very, very soon. -
It will probably get more riding time now that somebody liked it enough to take it, and I understand Jeff wasn't 100% happy with it anyway, rumor has it that Jeff is still a 1st Gen kinda guy. Jeff if you come this way before you can ride a 2 wheeler, you can ride my trike!

Found this poem on Facebook, thought everyone would enjoy it......... When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value. Later, when the nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital. One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem. And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet. Cranky Old Man What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see? What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me? A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise, Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes? Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply. When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!' Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do. And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe? Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will, With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill? Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see? Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me. I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still, As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will. I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother, Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet. A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap. Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep. At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own. Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home. A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast, Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last. At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone, But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn. At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee, Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me. Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead. I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread. For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own. And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known. I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel. It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool. The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart. There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart. But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells, And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain. And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again. I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast. And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last. So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see. Not a cranky old man . Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!! Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within. We will all, one day, be there, too!

Has anyone ever ridden a sport touring bike??
DragonRider replied to we2riders's topic in Watering Hole
My friend has an 08 and I was thingking about getting one but after riding his, and his has 1 1/2 inch risers for the handlebars, it was still to much lean over the tank and too much pressure on my hands. It had great power, was very easy to ride and seemed to know what you wanted to do it before you did it. I found it liked to be under power in turns. I will stick to my 2 1st gens and my cruiser. Too old for sports riding. -
Well yesterday I was finally feeling well enough to finish putting the R1 brake calipers with new pads on the 93 trike. At first it felt marginally better but not by much. I took it out for a test ride and after a few stops from varying speeds using the front brakes only (both sides) they starting getting better. By the time I got back home after about 20 miles I was able to cut down the stopping distance using front and rear by almost half of what it had before the change. Now as soon as I can save a few more dollars I will put the SS brake lines on, then see how much it improves. So far I only have $134.00 invested in this project.

This was read on the Dr Phil show on Wednesday by Dr Phil and his wife, Robin at the end of his show. Then it was followed by a bell tolling for each life taken at Sandy Hook Elementary on Friday. I'm sure it will go viral, and it should since Jesus is the LIGHT. Eleven Days Before Christmas >> Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 a.m. > > when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate. >> Their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air, > > they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there. > > They were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say, > > they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day. > > "Where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse. > > "This is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house." > > When what to their wondering eyes did appear, > > but Jesus, their Savior, the children gathered near. > > He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same. > > Then He opened His arms and He called them by name, > > and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring. > > Those children all flew into the arms of their King > > and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace, > > one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face. > > And as if He could read all the questions she had > > He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad." > > Then He looked down on earth, the world far below, > > He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe. > > Then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, > > "Let My power and presence re-enter this land!" > > "may this country be delivered from the hands of fools" > > "I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!" > > Then He and the children stood up without a sound. > > "Come now my children, let me show you around." > > Excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran, > > all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can. > > And I heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, > > "In the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT." > > > Written by Cameo Smith, Mt. Wolf, PA >
